Didn't see that. Will have to get a different FA.Just saying, Higgins has been tagged with the Franchise tag. His cost raised significantly.

When a guy is like that it's called addition by subtraction. You really can't win with a guy like that.
They wouod need something immediately. They will get their bones picked on this one because he's been a first class arsehole. But what are you gonna do. Watch it another year and then let him walk. Or worse actually give him a long term deal.Agreed. Move him while they can v get something for him.
With the draft being in piss in 2026, would not surprise me if you trade him after the draft for 2026 compensation
Julian Edelman spells it out for those who still don't get it. We are basically a predictable joke in the NFL.Omar has to be one of the most frustrated guys in the building. No matter what that man gives Tomlin and that bunch of maladroit imbeciles, the players will be handicapped by conservative play designs and Tomlin's abhorrence for using the middle 3rd of the field. You could time travel to 1976 like Bill and Ted, pack the entire Steelers team into that phone booth, deliver them to Mike Tomlin and he'd find a way to go 10-7. It's useless, pointless, and unavailing to believe that anything other than aborting Tomlin and his congress of fetuses will solve anything, let alone trading away TJ for bleak future.
I don't think we win with or without him. With this offensive scheme....When a guy is like that it's called addition by subtraction. You really can't win with a guy like that.
Trade him during training camp after you see how your other investments at the position lookThey wouod need something immediately. Trade him before the draft and you get immediate return. They aren't winning sweet F'A next year either way.Trade him during training camp after you see how your other investments at the position look

Can't even blame Tomlin really anymore. It all goes back to Rooney.This.
I’ve been following the team seriously for 30 years and this year for the 1st time it hits so hard that free agency, the draft, personnel moves in the offseason etc. are all but irrelevant because Tomlin will waste them in his outdated system and lead them to his ceiling of a 1st round playoff beat down loss
For the record I do not think Pickens will be a Steeler come Draft day maybe even start of FA. Not sure the market. Hoping a second maybe a third worst. Then grab one of the FA's like Higgins to replace his numbers and then use a day one or two pick and you have a significantly better wr room without the ridiculous behavior.
Yeah....I don't see us moving him for a 2nd. Maybe a 1st depending how high it is and even then I don't know. We probably simply extend him.We are not getting Higgins, no way we trade draft collateral and pay his contract demand
For a 3rd you let GP play out his deal and take the comp pick. No way he leaves for less than a 2nd imo
He’s a prime candidate for play out final year then see what comp pick he gives.
And the WR room won’t be better without him, maybe less dramatic but also much less talented
Put 2 “nice guys” out there like Van and Skowronek and watch the 9 man boxes entirely shut the offense down. I’m highly doubtful any free agent receivers are wanting to come to this abysmal Tomlin scheme that doesn’t even have a QB rostered other than Skylar Thompson.
Not that it matters as this team is just doing doughnuts down in a ditch

I think FA's period. They need to have a deal/player to announce during the negotiation period. If they don't have a QB ready the first day of FA, they are going to lose out on any potential FA they had their eyes on. The longer this goes on, the worse it looks. We're gonna have to be the Jags and over pay for below average players.
Cooks seems like he has been on 10 different teams lately and hasn't done anything. Hopkins was not good in KC and you could argue JuJu looked better. Diggs and Allen have had big declines. Cooper is just a guy at this point. Godwin might be the best of the bunch, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade over CAIII he is at this point. I do think we need upgrades at WR but I don't think it's the main issue. If we ran a proper offense and used the various weapons we have I don't think our WR would look that badThe FA WR market might be worse than the FA QB market. The top two guys are likely to be tagged, and then you have a bunch of older vets on the clear downswing of their careers.
Diggs is 31, coming off a serious injury
Allen is 32, nothing close to what he once was
Cooper is 31, see above
Godwin is 29, likely to be tagged AND is coming off injury
Cooks is 32, lost his speed
Hopkins is 33
After that, you're really reaching. Trading Pickens leaves you WAY worse off and creates an even bigger hole. The only way you trade Pickens away is if you're going full rebuild mode. And you know Rooney will never admit or allow that, so it's patch work to get that 9-10 wins.

The Pickens issues, like those with AB, Bryant, Claypuff, etc.....all show that management's decision making in drafting or in player development is lacking.Keeping Pickens just sends a real ****** message. And his antics are on full display. You just can't have that.
They get 1st round talent in 2, 3rd, later. You can get lucky.....you can. But most of the time every team new the talent. And every team knew the issues. The Pickens issues, like those with AB, Bryant, Claypuff, etc.....all show that management's decision making in drafting or in player development is lacking.
Which #1 WR of the past decade was not a problem?
The real issues are either getting trade value to establish replacement at WR1, or culture to fix WR attitudes. Neither seems likely.
Thing is the WR market isn’t great. So you would have to trade him and recoup a WR in the draft.Keeping Pickens just sends a real ****** message. And his antics are on full display. You just can't have that.
That's why we trade a later pick for Kirk. The FA WR market might be worse than the FA QB market. The top two guys are likely to be tagged, and then you have a bunch of older vets on the clear downswing of their careers.

If the jags don't want him, with how thin they are at quality WR...why would we want him? That's why we trade a later pick for Kirk.
