Ike was pissed.

So how do you have so much information on the Billionaire owners that you can make a statement like that. Some of those folks are likely very much like you or me with one great exception, they became very successful. I would not be surprised to learn that there are some that are real ***** just like any group you wish to pick.

The point is that people that get angry about "millionaire athletes" making a lot of money are ignoring the fact that if it wasn't them pocketing the revenue, it would be the much smaller and much richer crowd of billionaire owners instead. So if you're already the self-appointed representative for the "ordinary American" - which group would you rather see flourishing? When people rant about athletes, truthfully it all just sounds a bit subtly racist to me.

Pro athletes wouldn't be getting paid as much as they do if the money wasn't there in in the first place.

Point missed. Not at all talking about which group I would rather see flourishing.

"And here's what I don't understand. Why is there so much disdain for millionaire players vs. "regular Americans", but we'd gladly rob them to line the pockets of BILLIONAIRE owners who would kick all your mothers in the baby-makers if it meant getting a dollar out of them?"

Question was: So how do you have so much information on the Billionaire owners that you can make a statement like that. My question to you was how can you make a blanket statement like you did about the owners of the teams, seems a bit racist or communist to me or even worse, makes me think you feel entitled to the property and work of another even though you did nothing to earn it.

People generally don't become rich enough to own a pro football team while being opposed to... compromising their moral standards. Do I know any of them personally? No. Just making generalizations. And besides, they could all be angels but that doesn't take away from the fact that they are richer than the players but nobody seems to complain about them raking in the rest of the NFL's revenues.

I think people in sports (owners / athletes) all make way too much money especially considering people like teachers / doctors make peanuts comparatively. Being a teacher now a days is not an easy task. You cant discipline kids, alot of kids are out of control, and then you got the psychos who are shooting up schools. They are doing this for what around 50-60 grand / year. When the president of the USA makes 2x less than an NFL rookie I think something is wrong. How many of these athletes would struggle to even hold a job flipping burgers for $7.50 / hr? ....I realize if athletes take a paycut it will just line the owners pockets so I dont know what the solution is. The only real way to control it is to stop going to / watching games and buying merchandise which I do not see happening. Only other way would be to cap what players and owners make and any extra revenue would go toward NFL charities, paying NFL retirees, or toward some type of safety research.

big taxes on big salaries is the only way you could fix that

Again another generalization. I have known some folks that were extremely wealthy in my life and they did not have to compromise their standards as you say. They simply were better at things than other folks and put in lots of hard work. They did not do anything other than the equivalent of working 2 shifts all the time on their business, and being talented at it. I'm not saying all of them are like that but that is one of the keys to success and the folks I knew that were extremely wealthy were like that. Some of the other things they did upon their death after taking care of their families financially they left large sums of money to various charities or set up a foundation to benefit folks less fortunate.

There is a similarity between the very rich and the athlete in many cases. They are among the best at what they do. They have talents that the rest of us do not, weather it is in the field of play or the field of business.

As to determining how much someone should make, I do not think anyone makes too much money other than those idiots in the District of Columbia. Our president will continue to get a pension long after he retires that will amount to a huge benefit. They also end up with health care that the rest of us could only dream about. There are lots of things that come with his job that he does not have to pay for, we do, and we will continue to do so till his death. That is a compensation package the rest of us will never see. One can make a good argument that actors, musicians, writers, various media types, athletes, and business people are the very best at their chosen fields, can you actually say that about a politician, didn't think so.

Look for the made-for-television tear-jerker on the Lifetime Movie Network coming soon:

Prepare yourself for the salty outlook from a rapidly aging veteran who can no longer cover my grandmother. Awash yourself in the pain of disloyalty -- can you imagine having to strap on those cleats for yet another season at a mere $2.75 million? Experience the heartbreak of a 34-year old man who's already been paid tens of millions and should have already mapped out the financial security for several future generations. Don't miss...

The Isaac Taylor Story: Interceptions Are Overrated

what you will create is uncoachable players who play for stats and forsake their assignments.
uh. He did. That's the point of the article.

Actually he didn't that's WHY there is an article.

I'll explain- Sample interview...

So, Ike, were you pissed about the paycut?

Not at all, I've made a lot of money here, and I've been smart enough to bank it. I've seen what happens when other guys leave, and I didn't want to be one of them. I'm actually pretty thrilled the Rooneys did't just cut me after the year I had last year.

That's the response I'd expect, it's not like the dude was a shutdown corner last year, so yeah, eat that humble pie, and ******* chew instead of yapping.

Joe

Part of the reason Ike may have been pissed. He took the blame but wasnt always at fault. Did he have a down year? Yes but not as bad as being portrayed possibly. Which is probably why a safety was taken over corner in free agency.

Great interview by Ike today at 11 PM as soon as they have it posted on KDKA I will post a link ..according to him he is a yinzer . Loves the city I don't want to misquote it so I will wait until I can post it.

there is a certain website that I shall not mention that has the Yinzer quote.

If you google ike taylor yinzer it is the second result

I think that Ike basically realizes that he didn't earn his paycheck last year and if he plays well this year for less money, it's a wash and he can ask for mo' money next year. Also he saw how things worked out for James Harrison and he knows he's better off staying here.

Hey Ike, Give James Harrison a call and ask him if he shoulda taken the ****** pay cut. He's got plenty of ******* time to answer his phone, now shut the **** up and play some football.

Joe

Yup. If Jerome Bettis can take a pay cut, so can Ike Taylor.
