I'll say it,

wonder if Deebo and Joe will be discussing this on their podcast.

"Hey Deebo - whatcha think about Cam saying Josh Allen hurt him?"

what? a QB hurt a DL? the mfwhat?

"And I'm getting out of here before you flip out."
Man, I hope so, would love to hear Harrison's response to that.

Sad to say, but after getting $$$$$, Myles continues to perform....where as.......hmmmmm
I've said it before, I'll say it again... a DC like Jim Schwartz would do wonders for TJ Watt. He understands how to put his star players in the best positions to win. He moves Garrett around, they run stunts specifically to get Garrett free or at least help him get one on ones, and the Browns usually have a pretty solid D that's handcuffed by a horrendous offense.

Swap Garrett and TJ right now, the only thing changing is who they play for, you can swap the stats... Austin/Tomlin does absolutely NOTHING to help TJ out. It's why TJ is THE MOST CHIPPED player in the NFL by a WIDE margin. You would think a player that has 14 sacks in the last 5 games would get that kind of attention right? But I've watched the Browns games the past few weeks, and he's not in the same spot over and over and over and over and over again.

I agree, I watched the game where Garrett had 4 sacks or maybe 5 sacks, but he wasn't doubled on one of his sacks.

I dunno about that, I seem to remember, I believe it was James Harrison, saying something about telling the LB coach to move TJ to the left side of the formation because he had a move on the left side that he couldn't do on the right. Perhaps, and I know this is blasphemy, TJ isn't as versatile as Garrett in terms of technique. Perhaps moving him around isn't as beneficial as us fans believe it would help him.

To me, the issue isn't TJ, it's the defense around him. It's difficult to get a sack when the RPO and quick passing game carves up the backers and secondary. It's difficult to get a sack when they rush for almost 300 yards and never put opposing offenses in 3rd and long situations. Why aren't they loading up the right-side pressure to move offensive protections from the right to the left away from TJ? Why aren't they roaming TJ pre-snap from maybe the middle and then last second run up to the left? Bring the safety and backer on a blitz and move TJ into zone coverage? They do nothing and It's maddening!

IDK—Just from the infamous and usually spot on steel dino’s eyeball test.
It seems to me in my humble opinion that number 90 is not quite the player he once was and his status has reduced from Superman to slightly above mere mortal.

TJ is doubled / chipped about 1.5x more than any other player. The soft zones allow quick pass and catches with no chance for a pass rush. I do think TJ slowed down a bit, but you can't expect a guy to constantly beat doubles. What I don't understand is when we blitz and play soft behind it. It makes it so easy for the QB to find someone. If you are going to blitz at least play tight against the receiver so the QB has to think / hesitate a little.

The whole culture is rotten. It's time for a total cleansing.

EXACTLY, you can’t change a part or two and call it good, the HC on down.

there might be a couple sub-coachs’ to stay, but I can’t think of any right off the top….. Maybe QB coach.

Salute the nation

Staple of the Tomlin defense, easy over the middle completions, quick and no time for defender to get a sack.

I'll blame Tomlin for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. I agree with what you're saying. Watt stays on one side of the defense because that is what he wants to do. It's not stubbornness, rather where he knows he's most effective. His get-off, which was his best trait, is slowing down. He's just an aging player who's still producing, just not at a $40 million level.

Ten years ago who among us would have thought Danny Smith would end up being the best assistant coach on the team?

Post the video (sorry if you already did and I missed it). I've seen three different angles and saw nothing of substance.
You can see it clearly if you just look at Allen's right leg and nothing else. He does a sideways jab with his leg into Cam's stomach. Then look at Cam's reaction...you just don't jump up into a dudes face and tell him " You're ******* up!" out of nowhere.

It happens quickly at about the two second mark. I thought he had used his foot when I first saw it at full speed...I had to download that video and run it on my computer at 1/10 speed since you can't do that on you tube. At full speed you can see it's done intentionally by the way his leg swings.

At 1/10 I caught the frames where his knee is in Cam's stomach. Those are the 2 pics below video.

After that Cam gets lost in the wash as he gets pushed back...the knee action was not an effect of being helped up by his teammates...that had not occured yet. It was a dikk move on Allen's part as Cam was trying to get up. It's not like he was holding him down or anything...just a dikk move.

Cam Heyward is coming across as a little b!tch, whining to the media and taking personal fouls in game about a QB doing something to him. That's where we are now, our leader on defense is whining about a QB being to rough, come on. Imagine Lambert, Mean Joe, Porter, Harrison, etc. whining to the media about a QB
Cam Heyward is no leader. I lost all respect for him when he had his infantile hold out. If ownership had a pair they'd have told him to play or stay home and get nothing.

on the 29 plays the same video, TJ is shown getting repeatedly handled by some rookie TE. His fire was gone.

Watt has definitely slowed down since the middle of last season. He's still a good player for now, but that may not be the case next season or the season after, as his brother started to decline pretty rapidly around his age.

I kind of wonder if he could feel the decline coming with how last season ended for him and pushed for one last payday as a result.

Herbig is becoming the best edge guy on the team, if he's not yet. He definitely needs to be playing more than he is, but money talks, and Watt and Highsmith are making a lot.

Part of me wonders if he has just become tired of the whole situation.

We all know they're never winning another Superbowl with Tomlin. There's little doubt he knows it too.

I think there is some truth to that, but there's also a reason that Garrett lines up on the defensive right side MORE than the other spots. He has better moves from that side. But it doesn't stop them from moving him around to keep offenses from being able to do what they do to TJ.

And yes, the defense around TJ is also holding him back. When you have 5 OL, and a RB/TE that is 6 guys you can use for protection. Then the Steelers line up with 2 OLB, and 2 DL... It's a numbers game that never works out in the Steelers favor. On rare occasions they have tried to put Herbig next to TJ, but the numbers are still 6 on 5. You need to force the OL to wonder where the pressure is coming from, create matchups in YOUR favor...but right now they are playing INTO every offenses perfect scenario. Play off the WR, chip or double TJ, get the ball out fast, it's just pitch and catch.

Since they have Ramsey playing safety now, they should be able to keep 3 DL on the field at all times. But they need to send a blitz from somewhere, use stunts, something other than just rushing everyone straight up the field while being outnumbered.

yep, kinda like Pickens figured it much more quickly.

When Wayne Gretzky played and scored more points than imaginable almost every night, he played many different spots based on in game situations, because at no point in professional sports does any position or head coach not want his best player in the best position to either score, or attract enough opposition attention to allow the other, lesser talented players a much better chance at scoring.

The idea of TJ playing at left edge, always, is just dumb coaching at every level.

I’m afraid the Steelers are saddled with some baaaad contracts here and they need to unload some if they can.
Next season Watt 42 million, Ramsey 17 million, Metcalf 35 million. Highsmith and Queen on their last year of their pricey contracts.
They simply have to dump some of these contracts by trying to trade some of these players.
Would not expect any #1 draft picks and maybe and I mean maybe a #2 for Watt. Metcalf possibly a # 3 and the rest whatever you can get.
The team simply has to cut loose from these bad contracts and aging, older players. Think young and bring in the younger, hungrier, faster kids. Gotten absolutely nowhere with these guys.
Also cut loose of Cam Heyward as well!

I think Metcalf is still young and talented enough to keep around for awhile. If the Steelers want to develop a QB (Howard or someone else) within the next few years, they're going to need some established talent at WR.

Metcalf is definitely overpaid relative to his current production, but I think it's generally understood his stats are deflated a lot by the offense he is currently in.

There are reasons why Pickens, Diontae Johnson, and Chase Claypool all had borderline psychotic breaks after promising starts to their careers with the Steelers

Getting rid of ramsey would cost next to nothing on next year's cap
