I just want the compensation.Who cares? Well ....at least I don’t.

I just want the compensation.
It really depends in the language in the contract. I don't have access
Liked but dislikeRemember Tomlin stepped down with time remaining on his contract.
I think it might come down to the Rooney and how he looks at it.
Rooney could just let by-gones be by-gones to help make Tomlin a more desirable hire
without having to give up anything for him..
I could see the Rooney waiving the compensation if Mike said help me getting this job.

Must smell wonderful...Lily Tomlin
I just want the compensation.

Must smell wonderful...
You were already paid the compensation for Mike
Years and years of mediocrity
Now you want more?
The only reason I would care is the steelers could get compensation

Again, the previous Steelers FO believed that if Bill Cowher ever went back to coaching, they still had his rights because he retired with a year left on his deal... with player contracts thats true for sure... its never been tested with coaches..There was an option for next season but the deadline to pick up that option has passed with no report of them having exercised that option. The understanding seems to be if they didn't then he is free to sign anywhere next year.
He'd have to sit next year too. As far as my understandingI think Mike deliberately waited a year to make sure the Steelers get no compensation. A final parting gift.
I understand what you are saying but multiple credible reports say that isn't the case and that he is Scott free. I hope we would, but I don't think he coaches again anyway.Again, the previous Steelers FO believed that if Bill Cowher ever went back to coaching, they still had his rights because he retired with a year left on his deal... with player contracts thats true for sure... its never been tested with coaches..
You sign a 3 year deal.. if you coach/ play 2 then quit, you owe that team 1 year if you ever unretire..
The only way the Steelers arent owed Comp picks from a team is if they secretly fired him and him stepping away was to save face...
Not unless we had picked up his option from multiple reports. He'd have to sit next year too. As far as my understanding
How can you seek him back after he left and you had to sign another HC? Also....there was compensation for Payton becuase he was under contract.....ai said we would have received compensation for Cowher. He had a year left. Harbaugh was fired. No compensation. Maybe I read it wrong. Either way I don't care honestly. Just glad we are now past THE TOMLIN ERA. I thought for a bit it might not happen in my life time.....and I am 56.I understand what you are saying but multiple credible reports say that isn't the case and that he is Scott free. I hope we would, but I don't think he coaches again anyway.
Per Ai for what it is worth.
Would the Steelers Get Compensation if Mike Tomlin Returns to Coaching?
If Mike Tomlin returns to coaching in 2027, the Pittsburgh Steelers are unlikely to receive any draft compensation from a team that hires him.
Why no compensation is expected
Tomlin’s contract with the Steelers ran through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027. At the end of the 2025 season, it became clear that once his contract expired, he would be “free and clear” — meaning the Steelers would no longer have rights to compensation for himwww.steelcurtainnetwork.com+1. This is different from situations where a coach is under a long-term contract and can be “tolling” (contractually tied) to the team, which is how other teams have secured draft picks in the past.
How it compares to other cases
- Bill Cowher: If he had coached again, the Steelers would have been entitled to compensation, as he was under contract
NBC Sports.
- Sean Payton: The Saints received draft capital when Payton moved to the Broncos, because he was under a long-term contract
Steelers Now.
- John Harbaugh: After being fired, he was free to be hired by another team without compensation
NBC Sports.
What this means for 2027
If Tomlin signs with another NFL team in 2027, the Steelers would not be able to claim draft pick compensation. Even if they tried to toll his contract, they would have little leverage, as they are not seeking him back at this timewww.steelcurtainnetwork.com+1.
Bottom line: The Steelers are not expected to get any draft capital if Tomlin returns to coaching in 2027 — the window for that kind of compensation has closed with his contract’s expiration.

You are correct. I belueve initial reports said any team would need to trade for him if he coached in '27. That was incorrect. Not unless we had picked up his option from multiple reports.
EXACTLY, I don’t care what or who he does.
I just want him to land a NFL Coaching job that pays us compensation.
The higher the compensation the better as I don’t care if the compensation is looked
as proof of his coaching decorum of ability.
Just get a NFL Coaching job Mike Tomlin, our Steelers will be better for it.

He’d look great being part of the mistake by the lake, at least 2 games a year our D would look historic as they’d only have to defend half the field.
Him Going to CLE would be compensation enough to me
In all reality, I wouldn’t fear his Coaching ability against us.
I’d fear more his sub-coaches (pending on hires) than he himself. NOTE: This would be limited due to his control freakisms.
