I know some here don't give a rats *** about individual stats, and some will say "who cares, we suck"... blah blah blah. I just wanted to take a second to point out a few things about some of our stars on offense.

LeVeon Bell is third in the league in rushing (he's behind Foster by 16 yards), and we haven't really given him a ton of carries the past two games. Still, we haven't had a back in the top five in rushing since Willie Parker. He has the highest ypa for any back with over 100 carries at 5.1 (currently 9 backs with over 100 carries, and 5 more within 10 carries). Less than 100 yards separates DeMarco Murray and LeVeon Bell in total yards from scrimmage. Pretty impressive when you consider the pace Murray is on in rushing yards. Bell does it all (already over 900 yards from scrimmage).

Antonio Brown is first in the league in receiving yards, second in the league in receptions (Matt Forte of all people leads the league). Pretty impressive when you consider that we really haven't had a second option step up and take any heat away from Brown. He's doing it week in, week out against the best the other team has to offer, and usually with safety help. Truly one of the best WR in the game today. He's also second in the league in 20+ yard receptions with 12 (Julio Jones has 14). 34 of Browns 50 catches have been for first downs.

Now if we can just get more scoring from the bunch (still think Brown was IN on that TD catch), but this game shows that we CAN score from the redzone, now why we can't do it consistently is the big question.

I think we'll start to see a LOT more of Martavis Bryant from here on out. He had no problems getting behind the coverage, and the more time he can get with Ben, the better the timing will be. He could be a huge asset in opening up the rest of the offense.

I wouldn't judge Bryants NFL potential by this game alone. The Texan's safeties are known for getting tourched deep and this is something the Steelers actually game planned for. It will be interesting to see how Bryant steps up the rest of the year.

Oh yeah...sit Wheaton and Archer on the bench. They're about as productive as an Ebola Czar.

I was just talking on the phone about this.

and Allen. and Deebo. Unproductive players getting too much playing time.

but wait for it they will improve eventually after the season ends with another 8 and 8 year !

Bench them and put them out there two plays later ! brilliant !

The guys on the Houston team were not able to cover a lunch box with a blanket, that had something to do with it. Brown looked like he just touched the line so he was out but it looked to be about as close as you could get. At the end of the play they showed a divot of soil that had a small chunk of the soil with the stripe on it removed, the close up made it look like he was just barely touching the line.

Still lots of work to do before the team is good again. Tomlin did not know he would need the kicking team down to the area the ball was for a field goal just to stupid for words had to take a delay of game penalty for not being aware, glad it did not cost us points.

Houston actually played the better game with the exception of the inopportune fumble and interception. Had those plays been further away from the end zone they might have won the game. They played hard and generally did a better job in most areas of the game except for about two minutes. Good things from our offense on getting tds when the chances came.

Team gets by on emotion because there is some talent there. They go as the O goes.

Brown looked in and it looked like his feet slid outwards touching inbounds first. I always thought there had to be irrefutable evidence to overturn a call. But the refs missed that memo.

Tomlin's cluelessness was on display again, go figure. I will say this about the coaching staff; At least they made some roster moves to bring in some raw talent. You can say that some of it was due to injuries but the fact remains that Bryant was a key factor tonight. Putting Gaines in over Allen proved to be a good move. Tuitt getting more playing time, McCullers clogged up the middle on the zone stretch running play and effectively shut it down. Lance Moore is getting more targets and he's actually getting seperation week after week.

Where the hell is Heath Miller? There was a play where the Texans were bringing the house and the middle of the field was wide open...and we handed the ball off for a loss? AUDIBLE BEN!!!!!! Get Heath in space and let the big man crush the Safeties.

Dri Archer...Can this coaching staff not design a play where Archer is covered by an ILB? Did anyone else notice how damn slow Brian Cushing was? Wouldn't it had been great to have him cover Archer on a skinny post? And pull his *** off of kick return!!

There are a lot of safeties in the league known for getting torched. And while I'm not going to pin our future on Bryant being a stud, right now he's a piece the offense has been missing sorely. Someone who can get deep, and even when covered can at least make a play on the ball.

I'm really not sure how this individual stats thread got turned into another Tomlin thread...

1. Lance Moore thinks he's better than he is. He's a middle-of-the-road WR, and his stretching out nearly resulted in a fumble. Good when it works, but that could have KILLED us had it been ruled a fumble...and before anyone trots out rules interpretations, we have all seen how the refs make the incorrect call on a consistent basis.

2. As was said in the game thread, get McCullers in the weight room to get some endurance up. Big man is still pushing the Texans center, but got gassed halfway to Houston.

3. Bell and Brown both need to stop their bullshit "First Down!" celebration. Do that **** after a TD.

4. Keisel at NT - I don't understand that at all. Granted, he's slower than he used to be, and we're using him in a lot of the ways we did Aaron Smith towards the end of his career, but a NT DaBeard is not.

5. Mitchell needs to wrap up RBs, not just hit them high. A few times he went to POP Foster, but just bounced off. Wrap it up.

6. Adams coming off the bench may have been a good move for him. Maybe that's what he needs. He still makes me want to scream when he's whiffing at the guy running past him, but I've gotten used to his consistent sucking.

7. Beachum getting injured would have destroyed us. What was the plan? Wallace was coming in...to play what? Granted, he was our only available OL, but how would that musical chairs have worked?

8. We need to stop putting Worilds in the middle of the D. Let the ****** rush the passer. That's what he does best.

9. When Shazier gets back, we're going to have a ton of speed.

10. Moats was getting after it on the first series...then was pulled for Deebo. SMH.

I agree stop putting Worlids in the middle and blitzing him on loop put him right at the edge and get him to burst full speed and get his pad level low to go under the RT and get a sack.
About time we saw Troy mostly near the L.O.S he is not a play maker in the seconday anymore .
Mcullers should dress even if Mclendon is fine, Spence is a liability in coverage we will really need shazier to help vs the Colts spread attack hopefully he can jump a few passes intended for Bradshaw.
TY will be a really tough match up.

If Beachum was out, Wallace was going in at center and Pouncey would have been the LT.

Adams looked better than expected, I tought they would line jj and jj would just eat him like how he ate DeCastro but he held his ground.
If only Adams can be used more in a unbalanced line get more PT it should boast his morale and maybe next year or late down the stretch he can put him at LT Beachum at LG as Foster is slow , fat and a misfit for the zone.

How about this stat, If we beat the colts next week Ben will be only one of four Quarterbacks to win 100of their first 150games. the other three. Terry Bradshaw, Tom Brady, and Payton Manning. Pretty damn good company.

I was looking at some of Bens stats, and how people can say he is not a hall of famer is beyond me. Wins first 15 games, youngest QB to win SB, t2nd most perfect passer ratings, only QB to do it twice in a single season, Two SB rings, three appearances. One of the toughest QB's to ever play. 6th best winning percentage in NFL history, Brady, Staubach, Montana, Manning, Bradshaw, and Big Ben.

If he doesn't make it first year it will be only because of perceived wrongs he committed OFF FIELD.

Yeah, right.

Some here want him traded while he still has value.

Let that sink in, I think we might be the ONLY fanbase in the world that would have a qb of this ability, who has stated multiple times he wants to retire here, that we would trade away so we can get back to lighting defenses up like we did in the 80's and 90's.

Yeah, right.

Yeah right What. it was expected you would have something negative to say. what of the things I listed do you have a problem with? Oh let me go ahead and answer, worst QB rating of any QB to win the SB. My reply, who got them thru the playoffs to even be in the SB?

Ben Had a great Defense, that's what got them there. Of the QB's mentioned who didn't have a great defense?

I do not want Ben to go anywhere. He can be coached up he has talent. 101 problems but that probably the Steelers least.......

Sure he bone heads here and there, and has lost some foot speed.

But with better talent and coaching he could still bring home another ring IMO...........

Yeah, right.

he's no Jumpball Joe, but he's pretty goddamn good in his own right.
as for you, I've yet to see you contribute anything worthwhile to this board. If this weren't a kinder, gentler board, one would tell you to go fist yourself while sucking off a short-fused stick of TNT.

You can't write Wheaton off yet. He looked very good in the first 4 games and made many crucial catches. He has not looked nearly as good the last 3 games but he is still basically a rookie. He was injured most of last year and didn't play much. I'd keep him dressed and let DHB or Justin Brown sit.

I also think McCullers showed enough to get a hat and some reps each week. He will only get better.

Some people think you can pull a QB out of your ***. Go look at the QBs drafted the past 10 years. Only a few, and I mean a damn few, are worth a ****. Ben isn't Manning but Manning is a once in a generation player. Trading Ben is just asinine. When Ben retires these people are going to love the Kordell Stewarts, Kent Grahams, and Landry Jones of the world.

Something is up with Wheaton's timing with Ben. Some of the times it looks like Wheaton took a bad turn, didn't quite get the route right, etc. but other times (fewer) Ben misses him.

bench Wheaton and have him earn his job back, that way you aren't over playing him and ditching him either

But who do we have that is better than Wheaton showed in the 1st 4 games of the season? Definitely not DHB and not Justin Brown. I think you still dress Wheaton but maybe put Bryant and Moore in the game before him. Maybe that will get his attention.

I think eventually he will bounce back
