Initial Thoughts on Bills Game

I always thought Tomlin was lazy, but he has taken that to a whole new level! How the heck do you not recognize the fact that the Bills had two new OTs? How do you not realize that they have the best run game attack in the league? Yet, the esteemed leader of our beloved Steelers felt that it was better to only have 2 down lineman to try and stop their passing attack! I saw three down lineman maybe 10 times all game and you can bet that the Bills were licking their chops every time they broke huddle and saw it as well! We should have stacked the box to stop the run and make the Bills pass the ball to win, thereby exposing their two new shiny toys on the outside of their line. But nope, the defensive genius Tomlin is, he tried to outsmart them and refused to make changes for fear that the Bills would catch on and throw a new wrinkle at his disastrous defense! He's a complete moron and has always been a moron. A high school coach could do a better job with this team!

The same reason he hasn't realized teams double and or chip double Watt on 85% of the plays, yet there is never anything to offset that, he just lets it happen and hope the ROLB can get home, over load the opposite side, you know every team has at least 2 guys on Watt. Buffalo was running down our throat and we have our best tackling DB (Ramsey) 20 yards off the LOS.

What team would trade for Tomlin now?
The Chiefs hired Andy Reid after he went 4-12 and got fired by the Eagles in 2012. I have no doubt that a desperate franchise would be willing to trade for Tomlin. The key is if he would ever be willing to accept it. The "Fire Tomlin" chants are a good start to possibly helping him realize that he's finally worn out his welcome in Pittsburgh.

I used to laugh at stuff like this, but now…. Nope. It’s the Steelers logo bright and bold for all to see and that’s sad.
Yep tough to make fun of them when they've won a playoff game more recently than we have, and more recently in Pittsburgh than us :(

I have to mention yet again the fact that the Steelers are not only bad, but they are old. Here are their best players:

TJ Watt - 31
Jalen Ramsey - 31
Cam Heyward - 36
Chris Boswell - 34
Jaylen Warren - 27
DK Metcalf - 28
Pat Freiermuth - 27
Isaac Seumalo - 32

The only young players with potential impact skills:

Darnell Washington - 24
Derrick Harmon - 22
Troy Fautanu - 25
Kaleb Johnson - 22

That's it. A team with that many old guys and a startling lack of young talent is not going to get better and is basically guaranteed to get worse.

I don't know why I watched the low-lights of the game, but I did. I am just floored that this team is so incredibly bad. I watched Cook scream off a run right past Wilson who ran straight into the O-lineman never even looking at the RB. In what bizzaro world does a linebacker willingly throw his body into an O lineman?

Tomlin's time with the Steelers is COOKED. The Steelers and Tomlin will mutually part ways so they both save face, no doubt. If you want to get back to the Steeler way, Sign Hines Ward as the next OC and Byron Leftwich as the Head Coach. (The NFL doesn't like non-coordinators becoming head coaches, look at what Jeff Saturday went though.) Otherwise I'd love to see Hines ward as the HC.

Tomlin did say before the season that this defense would be historic.
he sure didnt lie.

The only thing he is stacking is paddys at burger King

Just get a good Coach that can scheme to help your weakness's, not just do what we do! Buffalo has a **** defense, but they played up close to LOS because they know everything is going to be a quick short pass, they held us to 7 points and totally shut us down.
Ironically, the Bills o was running the same predictable **** and we did nothing to counter it... two deep safeties and not a deep pass to be found

yep saw that, they are running down our throat and our most physical DB (Ramsey) is 20 yards off the LOS

TJ used to get chipped and double teamed. Now he can't even handle a TE. Hope he holds out for more money again next season.
yep, he is engaged, like the other DLs, and ok with that.

What about Zach Frazier and Nick Herbig? Payton Wilson shows flashes and could still become more consistent over time.

There are some younger pieces to build around, as even receivers like Metcalf and Freiermuth are not dinosaurs. Far from it.

They just need coaching better able to utilize their talents. More inside passing so opposing DBs cannot just sit on every out-breaking or vertical route would be nice.

The problem is they'll both be a couple years older and slower by the time Tomlin is most likely gone.

If Rooney would eat the money and make a change this winter, the new coaching could potentially get more out of this roster, assuming some upgrades are made in certain areas, at least IMO.
