Initial Thoughts on bugles Game

Very exciting game. We really dominated, IMO. A few gaffs, but nothing harsh.

That pick 6 was a penalty not a pick.

The Oline gave life to Najee, Warren, and the other guy whose name my old brain can't remember.

Pickens is his own worst enemy.

Porter - Comon man!

This Tomlin hater, who predicted we lose, is coming around. I would love to wear a Tomlin hat.

Offense looked great
Defense looked awful
Lucky to escape with the win

Russ 5-1 and looked great today
Fields record now 4-2 with 2 saves
Nice to see the combo clicking cuz we needed every point put up

The backs looked good
The OL was solid, even Broderick
The TEs stepped up-even a Muth sighting!!! What?
Washington is a beast
GP awesome as always, 1st penalty was right, 2nd is just NFL horseshyte
Hope CA3 is ok
Even Van made a play

Defense was awful, putrid and should never play zone again until they learn how to

Couldn’t stop the run, couldn’t stop the pass
Embarrassing unit today

Luckily they got a couple TOs and a score to offset their absolute futile effort otherwise

JPJr cheats every play, sometimes twice!!
Minkah still doing his invisibility thing
Preston looked good the handful of plays he had
41!!! Doing great things again to contribute
Cam looked good
Watt needs to be moved around more

Lucky to escape with a shootout divisional road win

5-0 now with games watched at my dive bar and drunk AF thanks to the all the Champaign of beers you can drink for $10 special

Toasting the Tomlinship!!!!
Standard upheld

Now that we won AGAIN time to fight all the ******* TOMLIN haters all week on SteelerNation

Where are all you ******* at?
lol….. can’t remember seeing you much after what was probably the worst coached game in years against the Browns. Hypocrite.
Find another team I’m tired of your **** go away

Seriously, just go away. No one likes you here, bro. We won

get the **** out of here.
I’m sure everyone on this site disagrees with others all the time. I sure disagree with some of the **** you spread.

Telling a person to find another team….no one likes you on here…get the **** out of here…just go away.Thats a different level..makes you sound like a whiny little preteen. A female one at that.

You deserve to be called out for this post.

I saw none of the game, but DangeRuss lit up my fantasy league.

The Escaloser is working hard right now... an unusually large portion of those dips in Cinci still had Playoff aspirations
They were quite docile in my section. We had quite a few Steelers fans around me. Very cute Bengal's fan next to us.

I wish i could contact mrs DJFAN and tell her that she should get you that for christmas. TOMLIN #1 on a hat.

Yeah, given grabbing receivers was an issue for him coming out of college, I tend to believe he got away with a lot last season and with the league becoming familiar with him, teams are asking officials to watch him more closely.

He's going to have to change the way he plays, and there's no guarantee he's going to be able to.

Last year, it seemed like the Steelers had finally broken their drought when it comes to drafting and developing a top CB under Tomlin. Not so sure now.
It’s so obvious too. He’s beat on almost every play and he’s hanging on for dear life

Arthur Smith and Tomlin deserve credit for changing the offense to throw more, not necessarily total number of throws, but by throwing more on 1st and 2nd downs. They also attacked the middle more and got Freiermuth involved.

The run game looked good too, not because they were trying to run into a brick wall with predictable play calling, but because they mixed in the pass and run so well that the defense was guessing. This has to be the path forward.

I still don't understand why Warren is used so sparingly. If you want Najee to be the lead back, fine but the carries should be more like 60/40 at least.

Again zero targets for Mike Williams. I get it that you like blocking but in a game where you opened things up and Russ was cooking, how could you not get at least 1 deep shot for Mike Williams?

Let's talk JPJ. He is a bit handsy and he is being unfairly targeted by the refs. Both can be true. Every DB puts hands on WRs to keep track of them but Joey has such long arms that it's easier for the refs to see it and they flag him for contact that is rarely called on other DBs. Even other steeler DBs get away with contact that Joey does not.

Tomlin needs to make an issue of this with the league. Send in a reel of JPJ getting called for minor contact followed by other DBs doing worse with no call at all. Maybe just pick one of the Ravens DBs and show the 10+ plays per game where they grabbed with no call,. You could do this with almost any DB.

Porter was bad for that at PSU. He got away with it a lot in college. Been screaming about him all year but my TV never seems to listen. :ROFLMAO: He seems to have regressed.
Since it CONTINUES to happen, you have no choice but to lay the blame on the Coaches. Which one is up to you, but if they wanted it to end, they would do what it takes to end it.

The D turned in ANOTHER simply atrocious effort. They were almost successful in putting up a TYPICAL playoff performance.

Put boxing gloves on him in practice. He won't be able to grab ****. I'd like to see him turning around for the ball more. That solves a lot of issues.

I'm getting concerned with Minkah. On the season, he has 0 INT and only 2 passes defensed. Here's Burrow's passing chart. Plenty of throws over the middle including 3 TDs and he's barely involved. I understand him playing center field so maybe he's too deep to be involved in many plays but even in the redzone where it's compressed, he just doesn't seem involved.

If Minkah is grading out well each week IE, he's doing what the coaches ask of him, then maybe you need to consider asking something else of him from time to time. Is there no other DB on the team that can be trusted from time to time to play the deep third so Minkah can go make a play?

It much better discussing clear issues like Picken's headspace and Joey's hands and the abysmal fuucking refs after a win rather than debating the multitude of clear coaching/OL errors that cost the game last week.

All in all a needed win that puts more distance on the Rats and shows a positive evolution in the Offense and the O playcalling. But far from the level of play needed for late January.

The Steelers have beaten 3 of the top 4 scoring offenses in the league
I surely would not have thought they would beat them in a shootout style game. I thought our D would have to be very good to win. I’m learning new things about this team. It’s quite refreshing. 🙂
