Initial Thoughts on Giants Game

Highsmith was great creating pressure, but there were a lot of big Gint runs in the space he created by going so far upfield on every play. Queen or Wilson have to fill that space, especially when Minkah seems lost in space
Not sure if that was the game plan for him? The previous game he stayed home a lot more and was good in the run game.
I saw Patrick Queen jogging around a few times. I will have to rewatch.

Yep definitely weren’t gap sound in this one.

So I dont know about all of you, but I am extremely bullish on our chances this season now...
This was the exact type of game we would have lost in previous years. We didnt. We arent overly reliant on any one thing this season... the O suddenlly has a passing game... the Run game looks good. The D is chalk full of playmakers... scheme out TJ, Minkah and heyward and you get big plays from Dj, Highsmith, Bishop, elliot, or Herbig ...
The D has been one of the top 3 scoring D's all year... it isnt overly dependent on pressure or takeaways... but it does have a lot of timely ones..

The Special teams has been thoroughly impressive as a whole...

Watching teams this year, i don't think there are any significantly better than the Steelers... and I think that as injured guys get back and the line gels more, there is room for improvement yet

I would like to see them blitz a little more often. It might pull the second guy off Watt or the Blitzer comes on a free run to the QB.

My biggest thought was it's good news, bad news. Good news they're 6-2 and the offense is trending up. Bad news, they may think they don't need to add a WR.

I don't want them going crazy, but there has to be a decent WR they can get for a 3rd rounder.

Russ looked better than last week. His timing with the WRs is better. It will help the WRs to play with a veteran QB that can give them direction.

Mission accomplished for the first half. With their brutal second half schedule they had to be 6-2 in the first half.

It's hard to expect more than 4-4 in the last 8. The browns are much better with Chubb back and Jameis at QB. Bengals are dangerous. Ravens games will be tough. Wash no longer looks like a gimmie. Eagles are getting better each week. Chiefs on Christmas will be a battle on a Wednesday after playing the Ravens.

The good news is they will get Frazier back at C. Sutton to play nickel. Maybe a new WR.

Looking at next year, if they don't keep Fields, just saying, Daniel Jones is a great fit for Arthur Smith's offense. He's a great athlete, can throw on the move. Similar to Ryan Tannehill who was great in Smith's offense.

Tonight's game was a perfect example of Jones career. He's talented. He does make plays but he also makes a number of bad plays per game. I have no idea why the Giants don't have RPO in their offense. I think Jones could be good in Smith's simple system.

Offense rolling at the start....gotta get TDs instead of FGs though
They scored 2 more TD’s, they just didn’t count.
Defense started slow..actually got some helpful flags early though
The D is a clusterfuk against the run. That 2 man DL bullshyte needs to go. Only played well in the 3rd qtr.
watching Broderic Jones makes me cry
I am really starting to worry he might be a bad pick for a #1 pick. Looking as if the really need to consider extending Dan Moore, until Jones gets hus shyte together @ LT
first half was very disappointing.
O looked light years better, D looked crappy as usual
Defense better in the second half, back to back sacks by Watt and highsmith
Better 1 quarter, without Watt and Highsmith, they would have lost the 3rd game for them
huge punt return TD for CAIII
I have felt ir was only a matter of time. The way the game was going, I fully expected a flag on that return
followed by a big TD Catch for CAIII
Confidence breeds confidence
Jefferon made a few plays....nice to see WRs not named Pickens step up a bit
Credit the better QB play for their improvement
Wilson threw some nice deep balls
Overall, a really good game, that boneheaded run parallel to the line not withstanding
Watt with the HUGE strip sack fumble recovery after the Wilson fumble
The man just makes plays when they are needed
game was too close at the end
Thank the porous D for that
Beanie ******* Bishop with the pick to end it

Oh and I still hate that soft zone play 10 yards off crap.

A lot of guys out of place in stopping the run this evening. No reason they can't fix that with the players they have.
I don't know whether to complain or understand better "why" we're not rotating DLs to help stop the run. Our base defense, all night, was nickel 2-4-5.

Once the Giants figured out how to neutralize Cam---boom--- that RB got real dangerous. In passing situations, we still gave their WRs too much space. JPJ is still a work in progress... and I didn't see much of our SS most of the night...

I believe that’s 25s and ILBs responsibility in the defense they’re calling alot.
Regardless.. they play 39 in single high way too much… your single high safety is like the kid they threw into games in right field to get his two innings in little league..
39 is better than that..

There's a reason that Watt and Highsmith got those contracts, they are expected to perform this way.
Which raises the question in my mind why they were on the sidelines on the play Bishop got the INT. When you know they had to pass, why were our key rushers not in the game? Resting?

It's a win but I was hoping for more. At least we have a big play threat now. Didn't like the big runs the D gave up. Didn't like the big pass plays the secondary gave up. I mean it was the Giants not the Chiefs.

They need to take the bye week and address some of what went on last night defensively.

I also have more concerns about the D than the O right now.
Giving up too many big plays, both running and passing.

I’d feel better if the Gmen were known to be great at running the ball. Maybe they are?

Someone here said that Najee was a bum. Who was that?

My thoughts from another post on Jones: WTF happened with Jones? Good rookie season playing a new position but comes back this year and looks worse. I hate he has to practice both OT positions but he is awful right now. Too many penalties, pressures, and sacks allowed. I hope he gets back to LT next year and can get back to form at his natural position. The Steelers have screwed up so many OL by playing them out of position and they leave and play much better at their natural position. Enough with the need to play multiple positions. Master one instead of being just average (or worse) at multiple positions.

C’mon man! Don’t give Lloyd any ideas!
The only reason he hadn’t shown up yet is because he’s struggling to pin something on Tomlin. Lol

Is there lingering arm injury issue??

Russell Wilson is averaging 9.5 yards per pass attempt.

Last year, Pickett averaged 10.3 yards ... per COMPLETION.
