Initial thoughts on the Bills game

Hell yes. Expecting old school Steeler football and a win and then on to Baltimore. If Harris touches the ball 25 times and Rudy keeps protecting the ball we win this game. Watt being out worries me but we can still get pressure on Allen and he has shown some Luck like tendencies throwing ugly balls. Tomlin is going to throw everything at them to win this game and get to Baltimore and ruin their SB season . Nobody but us can stop them unless there are injuries and zebras being zebras. I'm stoked

I know everyone on the sports shows on Fox and ESPN think we are a joke. And maybe we will lose big. But I kinda doubt it. And to me it's obvious, this game comes down to one thing, and that is " TOP ". Time of possession. If you look at it, the Bills were 7-2 at home this season. And technically it was 1 loss. Cause the Jags game was at a neutral site


Bills lost to Denver in Buffalo. And the one common factor both games have is each teams commitment to Rushing the ball. Go ahead and look those games up. The jags ran the ball like 40 times, and Denver 38 times. And averaging a good YPC is not even a factor. Denver averaged only 3.2 YPC. But yet they held the ball for like 37:30 for the game.

And no, neither the Jags or Denver dominated Josh Allen with pressure or QB Sacks. In fact, neither team had any Sacks.


Simple, keep Allen on the bench as much as possible. Keep Rushing the ball with Najee and Williams. Make sure we try and keep Rudolph in as short of 2nd & 3rd and short yardage as possible. Don't take any unnecessary risks on 4th downs, just punt it away, and keep Buffalo on as long a field as possible. And trust me, the longer the Bills have to go, you know sooner or later Allen will throw an Interception here or fumble the ball.

And of course the added bonus of getting back not one, but BOTH our Starting Safties in Kazee & Fitzpatrick. 👍. Not to mention Eldon Roberts is back at ILB. And he is our best at covering the TE. And you know he knows Buffalo, and what they like to do. So that's an advantage for Pittsburgh.

Yes fans, we could screw up with a mistake or two of our own. And yes we might lose, and normally the last seeded playoff teams are supposed to lose.

But to me, I personally feel at this particular time, the Steelers are a very Dangerous team that the National media are disregarding
And that is a mistake.

Our O-Line, which was as bad as it gets 10 weeks through the season has now galvanized and has come together. And for the last month, the Steelers are averaging more Rushing yards per game than ANY other NFL team.

So I say....Buffalo, you'd better not Discount us.

For some reasons I’ve seen a lot of Bills games over the last few years with Allan as QB. Whenever he has one of those 2-3 int,fumble games he always seems to comeback stellar the next game. I worry getting behind early. Taking away our run game. I still have visions of that 40-3 shellacking. Not sure how we play if it’s going to be heavy snow. Or how Mason throws the ball in that type of weather. Cam has to have a big game. I hope they play Benton a lot. And Herbig.
It’s going to be tough. Any given Sunday. They can do it. They really have to remain focused. We drafted Naj for these type of games in January.

What does a troll smell like to you? Sort of a combination of a carp left out to bake in the sun and a squirrel that got stuck in the walls. Unmistakable stench and extremely easy to spot.
 
Last three playoff games, all losses where the Def allowed 40+ points.

No Watt, playing our 'hot' 3rd string QB.

Early line is Pitt +10.

Of course, the 'any given Sunday' axiom applies.

Would like to see a foul weather game with wind. Turnover potential increase is exponential, the running game will rule the day. That would give us the best chance, in my humble opinion.

I'm not worried about Mason. I want to see us run like hell. No turnovers. If we come up short, Perc is going to have to have the game of his life and pin em deep. It's going to be an old fashioned ground game and we proved last week we can do it. It won't be pretty... It'll be Steeler Football and we're going to win this ******.

Not quite correct, both the Cleveland and Jacksonville losses the O gave up a touchdown as well as a turnover in the red zone (in my opinion if the O leaves the D having to defend from inside their own 20, that score is on the O, not the D). The KC game was the only one where the D gave up 40 points. Admittedly the D did still give up more than 30 points in those two games which is not good.

The Bills will sell out to stop the run. I could see them blitzing a lot. The OL will have to play above and beyond. DJ& Pickens will need to make a big play or two.

If they can't get to the quarterback, you can expect a ton of passes exploiting their zone defense.

Then you have Allen running the ball when all else fails.

I can see them either in a tight game or blown out.
 
The Steelers will have to stop James Cook and Josh Allen from running the ball, if they are going to have any chance of winning this game and advancing in the playoffs.

The Bills have only been giving up 90 yards per game on the ground over the last 5 or 6 games.
