The alternative: free tuition, free healthcare, open borders, reparations & government assistance left and right, all paid for by the hardworking U.S. taxpayer. “We want to be proportionate,” Trump told reporters Saturday.

However, the president also said he has not ruled out using military force against Iran in the future.

The only problem I have with sanctions is that they are going to hurt "normal" people and not the government / military. Plus I am sure Iran has some back channels to get some money that wont trickle down to civilians.

Shocking, I tell you, shocking. Trump was briefed about potential casualties well before he authorized the strikes. His version of how - and why - he walked it back is a bunch of bs. Again, I'm glad he decided against it, it was the right choice. Still, it numbs the mind how extremely dishonest the man is.

In may ways Trump is transparent. He said he called off the attack because one drone does not equal 150 human lives, and hit Iran with a crippling cyber attack instead.

Funny I had the exact opposite reaction on the whole matter. I thought "Oh **** he's got them in a perfect spot now!" He's thrown them a bone and agreed to stop the raids based on what Pelosi and the Dems are asking him to do. His very next move is going to stand in front of them (along with the press) and go "Ok the raids are off for two weeks like you wanted, either you work with me to get a deal done to solve the border crisis, or let the raiding parties begin and I'll make sure everyone knows you could have stopped them if you wanted to."

The level the recent sanctions by Trump/America on Iran has had on their economy just highlights to me how lenient the Obama administration was on Iran to start with.

Sounds to me like what we should really be focusing on isn't the fact Iran is now a caged animal again and being pushed into a corner, but the fact this same animal was let loose by the Obama foreign policy machine to reign terror on the whole region. Sounds like almost all the economic relief Iran got by "negotiating" with Obama's statehouse went to funding terror and spreading their Shia extremism and the moment it was taken away, their economy is collapsing again.

Maybe if they had taken the economic relief while they had it and spent it on their people and infrastructure, they wouldn't be so effected, but we all know that didn't happen. They decided to spend the money to get their hands dirty in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

I'm 100% in favor of keeping the pressure on and ratcheting it up as much as possible. Iran is a big problem. Their influence over Iraq is real and a major, major concern to peace in the region. The conflicts they are funding in Syria and Yemen have cost thousands of lives. Their money directly goes to sleeper cells of terrorist activity against western targets. There is no doubt about this based just on what has transpired in the region over the last 5 years (sine Obama release and gave them $140 billion dollars as part of the Iran treaty).

The only thing to get them back to the table is heavy sanctions and likely an air strike or two. We need a completely new agreement with them that not only restricts nuclear proliferation but also eliminates their ability to fund Shia-backed civil wars throughout the region.

Oh.... and **** Obama. What a ******* mess he left. His weak *** apology tour and "everyone loves me" bending over to terrorists is the worst foreign policy era in my lifetime.
