he cant cover deep, can't catch, I see William Gay as a better option vs a opponents #1 with mitchell or Will allen help over the top.

nickel on flanker Gay Se Cortez Slot Ike slot 2 Mccain heavy dime Blake in 3-2-6

My guess is he'll be matched up with co-grandpa Steve Smith, the two of them can slow-waltz down the field. So he'll be on the field for at least this next game. After that, it's anyone's guess.

No. Gay isn't going to put up good results in the starting lineup. He is one of the better nickel corners in the league. They made their bed when they brought Taylor back and passed on the top cornerbacks in the draft.

It's well past time to get him out of the lineup. He's a liability. (As is Cam Thomas by the way)

The Steelers arrogantly drafted a midget in round 3 this tear and again didn't bother to waste time drafting a CB before the 5th round once again, We refuse to address serious needs early under Tomlin instead waiting for the situation to be dire before forcing many high round picks to fix a problem, see the Oline and all the wasted picks, Gilbert, Adams, etc. React instead of act, the Tomlin way.

Franco, why didn't we draft a CB round 1? Or round 2? Or round 4? Or pick better corners last year, or the year before? It's like Dri Archer is solely responsible for our lack of CB depth, cracks me up. I wish it was that easy. Just don't pick Archer and we'd have us a bonafide lock-down, starting corner - a nice and shiny one - ready to come in and push Ike to the curb. I'm scratching my head thinking which CB was on the board at the end of the third that was gonna do that, but I hear you.

I still can't figure out why we signed him back this year...

Shaquille could have done what he did.

When you are a mediocre team with a ton of holes you don't waste your ONLY 3rd round pick on a small gimmick player who will never be a starter. Think a decent 3rd round corner would help more than the midget this year and in the future or you still wanna keep drafting late round CBs and hope they can do the job ?

I voted no but only because I don't think they have anyone who is better.

I don't believe he is defending the pick of archer but rather asking you who would you have rather taken with the 3rd pick in last years draft? Which you neglected to answer.

the last two options of the poll are actually the same answer, "too ealry to tell, give him a couple more games"

cover corners who were better options then taking Archer
Pierre Desir
Jaylon Watkins
Walt Aikens
Kieth Mcgill
EJ Gaines

No thank you to Gay. Ike is the better option; he's wildly inconsistent but good for a handful of good performances.

Gay has been solid since he came back from spending that year in Arizona. Also with Troy and Ike we don't know how much is due to them playing LeBeau's friggen' cushion.

As opposed to the dream of Taylor covering Green? Seriously, how can you guys say he's better than Gay? I agree Gay is MUCH better in the slot, but Taylor is ABYSMAL! I'd rather have a rookie out there making mistakes, but learning and getting better, than Taylor continuing to suck.

Wished Ike would have refused the pay cut.

When he missed the easy interception Sunday, I was "pissed".

Big play Willie Gay could do better and should be the starter.

I select D. We don't have anyone else to replace him with.

Yeah, a poll like this is meaningless because this is the truth of the matter. If Ike was in the way of some world-class replacement it would be one thing to clamor for the coaches to get him off the field. But he's the best we've got, so we have to live with it another year. Even then, I don't see anyone on the current roster threatening to surpass him next year, so either we have to draft an immediate-impact starter, roll the free agency dice, or think about extending him yet another year while we hopefully find someone to develop.

If we extend him, Colbert should be immediately fired! You've got to be kidding me. And no, he's not the best we've got. Gay is better. A rookie couldn't really do worse.

Gay is better. We're not talking about the Ike Taylor from 2008, but the Ike Taylor of today. It's crystal clear that Gay is better.

I think Willie is playing very well in the role he has. If I recall correctly, when he had to step into the #1 or #2 role, he was not able to perform very well and he had previously performed well in a role similar to his current role. His role now seems to be his limit. Just because he does that well, does not mean he can do any better than Ike at Ike's position.

People seem to forget why there was so much Gay bashing () for so long.

1.) Gay does a solid job as a Nickle CB

2.) Gay gets promoted to the #2 CB and proceeds to get burnt time after time. Gets demoted.

3.) We bring Gay back as a Nickle Back, but the indelible mark of stench is too great. So everyone continues to believe that Gay is terrible

4.) Gay proves that he is a pretty good Nickle CB.

Now fans want to repeat the process all over again?! Didnt we learn from our past mistakes?
