Issue with Tomlin teams recently but it could go back further.

you act like im unaware.. I have accepted the fact hes here and this is how it is. Id rather talk about the players , the line,, Larry O. , Minkas lack of splash, the lack of darts in short to medium , etc..
if we just blame tomlin every game wtf is there to talk about? Nothing. Its tomlins fault, see ya next week.

What is the common denominator of the long ongoing reoccurring issue?

There's only so many times you can scape goat your assistant coaches..lol.

I certainly don't harp about the HC like some do on here 24/7.

I don't even get mad about it. I just enjoy it for what it is each week.

They certainly have more issues than Tomlin, but he's the head cheese.

Most of the issues are from coaches not teaching and running the same **** for far too long when it has gone completely stale and is easily countered.

Again, Im aware of all of this. I dont post a ton, but i read here daily.

There isnt good material to even comment on. Its Tomlin. Well , you and ihavent been privy to wtf is going on.

Cant we talk about the players and schemes? Cant we talk about who is playing like crap, and who is doing great?

TJ been quiet for at least 3 games now. Larry goes on vacation for 2nd halves. We still arent throwing to friermuth or Mt Washington near enough.

**** tomlin. Lets talk about other things.. Like why the **** does Aditi kinkwabala's opinion mean a damn thing?

Wow, wow, wow there is WAY too much logic and facts in this thread…where are our resident Tomlin defenders from the game day threads to just dismiss everyone in this thread as “haters” or tell us “to go root for another team” or “be happy we’re 8-3” and ignore the terrible coaching decisions in the Browns game…

instead, just create a non Tomlin topic Thread.

instead, just create a non Tomlin topic Thread.

I am going to start a thread about the infuriating Groundhog Day repetition of errors by one coach, Tike Momlin. Same sheeit, different day with that guy.

"We don't have to change anything schematically."
- Mike Tomlin
Someone brought this up in a different thread. And I'll ask you the same thing I asked there. First off, what the hell do you want him to say? "Well, Sideline guy. This is what we are gonna do. I'm gonna tell you our exact plans so guys sitting at home won't be pissed about my answer. But at the same time, any Brown exec who may be watching can also hear our exact plans. But the guys at home will be satisfied." Who gives a hot damn what he says to a sideline reporter? It's so stupid. What matters is the result. The question was specific to Garrett. And Garrett didn't have any sacks after halftime. So they musta done something.

And why the hell do any of you listen to what any coach, Mike Tomlin or otherwise, says? They all take a graduate course in bullshiit. Or they say nothing. There is very little in between. Noll said pretty much nothing. Cowher was, and Tomlin is, bullshiit. This finally dawned on me years ago with Cowher during the rough patch from '98-'00. In the season final in '97 he rested guys against Tennessee to get ready for the playoffs. They lost. Fine. But when they were in the rough patch he was asked about playing young guys at some point to see what they had. He didn't want to do that. He jabbered on about not doing that because they were trying to win, the integrity of the game and fans come out to see players. Well, what about the final in '97? I loved Cowher, but it was pretty much at that point I stopped listening to anything he said, or any coach for that matter. Like I said, I was used to Noll saying nothing, so I got fooled for a while into thinking the bullshiit meant something.

The unfortunate phrase there is "that one game" most of the time it was Timmons trying to cover Welker, or Bostic trying to cover Chris freaking Hogan, or name any other ILB and any other quick NE WR.
About as painful as Foote 3, then 5, then 7 yards behind Rice scurrying thru the middle of the field.

I wanted him to say " it was embarrassing that we didn't plan to give turnstile Dan some help until he whiffed on Garrett twice, then we noticed we forgot to tell our OL that he might try that old LeBeau X blitz and come up the middle. Combined with my poor decision making on the fg try and those two 4th downs where we got manhandled, we are damn lucky to get out of this first half still in the game".

One of my questions is why everyone loves Muth so much?

Is it just cuz a bunch of yinzers are traditionalists and used to saying Heeeaaaath from when we had a great TE? Now the can’t help but wanna say Muuuth?

Dude couldn’t be more run of the mill average as a passing threat and is subpar as a blocker whiffing frequently and getting knocked off his ability to get into a route by chipping. Skowronek was blocking better than him for effs sake.

It ain’t like he’s a little TE. Think he needs some technique AND time in the weight room.

Overpaid for what what he’s giving. Been dangerously average at best post Ben making him look good.

While funny...and perhaps satisfying, I don't think it would have helped that much. They were still down 10-3 at half. I would have still been pissed if he said he cured cancer.

Your last statement kind of answers your first. The Steelers seemed to love him with the contract they gave him. So act like it...or don't give out contracts like that.

both Muth and Worshington have a **** ton of upside and ability, but during the Canada and Smith eras, they've largely been ignored. The few times they are targeted, minus an attempt to leap for a ball, they've been excellent. What do you do when you have a piss poor offensive line? Play action and quick strikes with crossing routes, screens, and when you're desperate...back shoulder fades. I'd kill to see a damn seem route when the safeties walk into the box on 3rd and short, not that that happens often with this team.

And that all goes back to Tomlin....and then up to the Rooney's. The new STANDARD is here and alive. We all know what that is.

I'm stealing this and giving you absolutely zero credit. :ROFLMAO: Not sure if you created that or reposted it, but it's brilliant
I had it made a while back. I kept it as I had this odd feeling it would continue to be fitting.😅

Yeah it's not like we don't see the blueprint every single week when teams chip Watt with the TE, then slide the RG to his side to help the RT too, but again, we do what we do and that should be good enough. There's nothing else we can do schematically or whatever the **** Tomlin said going into halftime. He was probably to worried about when the dumbest time to bring your back up QB in to throw the ball, oh yeah in the snow storm on a big 3rd down, that's when.

weird to say for a Pittsburgh team, but no snow and this is a win

that long throw by Fields reminded me of the game 10-15 years ago, also in a snow/windstorm, at the mistake by the lake when, on 3rd and 1, they lined up 5 wide and Ben threw a **** pass that had zero probability of completion.......

I would say Washington has the higher upside in the AS offense, or at least fits the scheme better

Both do have good completion to target rates that’s for sure

To your point about a crap OL, nothing wrong with the occasional slant either but definitely it would be refreshing to see them attack the seam and expose all that open grass in the middle of the field

Muth -- like Devin Bush and maybe some others over the years -- kind of typifies the '10's onward and particularly the last 7 or 8 years of this era of Tomlin football and maybe the NFL itself. The physicality is gone. Muth is the guy with pretty boy muscles but who lacks country strong grit and strength and we've seen that with his blocking. Factor in Tomlin's unimaginative approach to using one much less 2 TEs and it has always felt like something is missing with Muth despite the fact the fans had an easy transition from "Heathhh" to "Muttthhhhh."
