Joey Porter Jr.............................. not dad

I agree with the Herbig assessment, but add 2 points:
I don't think any of the other 31 teams give him this rich of a deal
And
I think several other teams would offer Joey $28-30M per year as a top 15 CB right now.
I totally agree...I figured the exact same money too.

If you can’t get a first for the player there is ZERO chance the player is worth top $$$ at his position
If you can't make the pro bowl, and lead the league in penalties for your career timeframe there is ZERO chance you are worth top $$.

I rarely oppose the team, but I think they're being cheap on this one.
I'm my mind they have been backed in a corner and don't want to 'move with the times'... so, yes, pony up and give the kid his 31M and move on.

The backup plan of Jalen Ramsey at DB in his place needs to stay in the genie bottle...

IMHO the Steelers will allow it, have no reason to believe otherwise with this flaccid owner

Just last year, had a moronic incident where a Steeler got into an altercation with a fan in the stands (a moronic player with past history of stupidity), said player even had language in his contract to void guarantee money in his contract should he do some stupid detrimental to the team BS…said moron gets himself suspended through his own complete selfish stupidity yet same flaccid owner does ZERO to reprimand the moron.

It’s what Art “the flaccid” does in his kingdom
Let’s the clowns run the court

Fully expect JpJ to do whatever he pleases with zero repercussions or accountability

The standard is the standard
So it really wasn't Coach Tomlin's fault???

I'm stunned... lies!!! We've been bamboozled!!!

That's the range he should be in, but the Porter House thinks differently (speculation)

why dont he take the steelers offer,, whatever less than what he wants and use it as a 1 year extension,, instead of multi year.?

One of the talking heads suggested using franchise tag $$$amount(s)$$$ to put a two year package together and get him signed.

I truly wonder what Steelers starting offer to Herbig's agent was at.
I think you have to look at Herbig’s contract really kicking in next year when he’s likely to be a full time starter. That’s when I think they’ll make a move with Highsmith or Watt.

It’s bizarre given how hard it is to get top CBs. I think part is they just don’t value the position as much as pass rushers. I know a lot like Asante Samuel and he’s good, but he also doesn’t have the length against big WRs. JPJ’s arm length is in something like the 98th percentile. He should be the long-term answer with Dean a short-term solution until Everett (hopefully) becomes ready.

Whether it kicks in next season as you say because they move on from Highsmith or not......doesn't change the fact that they over paid on the guy.

I would have to say $$$ what the Steelers feel is a reasonable starting point for them…… the Steelers.

Joey has a number and my point being…….. the two side are to far apart

With the know bold mouth / bravado / of the dad, the compromising is being hampered.

My SPECULATION is the Steelers are at $25-28mil where-as Joey camp is at $31-34 mil.

The guaranteed $$$$$$ is probably the main hold in the whole thing.

I’m not an expert, but have been known to negotiate the river while Kayaking,….. ………

wait “Navigate” would be the word………………….

Probably over paid on Herbig....Washington and Benton.....all situational part time players(paying on potential is the phrase).... but the guy that has started since his rookie season and gotten better every year they want to low ball. Pitiful.

Herbig and Benton in my opinion not overpaid. I am super glad they locked up 2 young talents. Washington? Not sure

Herbig’s around the 16th highest paid edge defender and $25 million behind the highest paid guy. Not exactly breaking the bank for an up and comer who expects to be the starter in 2027.

Watt, Ramsey, and Metcalf are guys who are overpaid.

It's like the Steelers sent Pac-Man Jones to negotiate the deal with Joey Sr.

Pick up the phone and get this done Omar!

its Assante Samuel that will take his place not Ramsey.
For love of god yes that should be the move if necessary-Samuel would be way better than Ramsey, but we need Joey

As Bermuda said, all things considered 31 million a year should be the number, I wonder if either side will agree to that tho

For me it would take a crazy trade offer to move him. Depending on who the team is a 1st and a 2-4 somewhere in that range depending on the team.

Say like Dallas they would need to give me a 1 and a 2.

Hence a crazy trade offer.

Meh. Possibly....yet they are back ups. And Porter "a starter"....is probably the biggest young talent on the team. Pay him.
