Justin Fields last 17 games

Fields has played solidly over his last 17 games, with two bad offenses around him in Chicago and Pittsburgh. I would sign him for a couple of years (at what most likely will be a reasonable rate, comparatively speaking) and see what he can do in 2025 as the full-time starter.

I saw Fields go thru his progressions during games. No one is open at times. Then people on here stated he didn't go thru them fast enough. Then I saw the exact same thing from Russ and every other QB we have had since Ben. With our limited offensive philosophy. Our limited scheme. Our limited ability in play calling. Who is at fault? I am not saying Fields is the best at reading defenses. I just want some proof besides simply parroting what some say on here over and over. Dude has had 5 OCs in 5 seasons.

I'm just telling you what I saw. Then, others here said the same thing.

I'm not the biggest Russ fan either. We are in a bad spot concerning QBs. Having a lousy scheme doesn't help either. Just one of the things about the Tomlin era that drives me nuts.

Between Russ and Fields, let's sign Fields for cheaper. Either way the play book has to be upgraded, the O line has to be fixed, and some legit receivers are needed.

Won't happen... so in lieu of that... I PAY Ben to sit with JF 4 hrs every day of training camp and go over every piece of film where the kid threw a pass, even his Bears days if I can get it, ESPECIALLY any where he threw a pick.

I also thought fields was too slow at reads. But he would make good use of legs and pull it down and gain yards.
I thought russ would be better. At first he seemed to be. But as the season wore on , i saw the same things from russ. But once he pulled it down he couldnt get out of there.

So now i dont like either of them. But fields has the bigger up side.

champion....didn't look any better than Fields reading defenses. One could argue Fields looked better.

Now you could be correct. He sucks. Just show me that he sucks....instead of just saying he sucks. I saw him in games going thru his progression as fast as Russ did. Or at least that is my opinion.

Are you kidding? There is a plethora of film from his first three seasons in the league that can be relied upon to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he has trouble reading defenses.

Fields reads might be on the slow side....I tend to lean that our system simply sucks for QBs. Just my take.

1st of all there is nothing more common than crazy athletic skills but lacking the brains to be a great QB, happens all the time. Knowing who is open and where to throw the ball comes 1st, I don't Fields gets it. Unlike Daniels, he doesn't know how to find the open man. His stats look promising but they don't tell the whole picture. He panics too often and drills his passes into a covered WR. He simply lacks the ability to seek and destroy like Daniels. You can't teach that. 2ndly, if you CAN teach it, you are 100% right, Tomlin ain't gonna be the 1 who does. He's clueless as a QB teacher. Hopeless. Big Ben overcame a miraculous obstacle in blowing off Fraudlin's lead in the 2nd half.

I don’t think Fields lacks brains cooch. It can be just that his vision isn’t great in reading the field quickly.

Plenty of great QBs had low wonderlick test scores.

But keep that flame strong.💪

There are a few breakdowns if certain games from this past year that are positive. I'll see if I can find them. I know one of them was used on Cam Newton's YouTube.



This is one of them. Shows a couple plays that were whiped out by penalty, but showed really good things from Fields.

I thought he had moments . I think Smith had him improved off his Chicago stint.

How far can he improve on top of that is a question out of my knowledge…
 
We should've traded for Doncic, he sure can pass better than Fields and Wilson

He absolutely had moments. That throw to Pickens that he was scrambling and Jones held on, was ridiculous!

I think he wants it, works hard, keeps his head down. As professional as you can get. The type of player needed in the locker room.

It just makes sense in all the ways. Young, athletic, humble, works hard, good guy.

Nothing wrong with giving those types a try. I think we saw Russell was going in the wrong direction. Not sure that is salvageable.

Easier said than done; if it were that easy to accomplish, it would have been done already, but Tomlin comes with so many obstacles.
