Justin Fields to test free agency

I would be surprised if anyone in this FA crop or draft is a long term answer anyhow. Maybe this kills two birds with one stone. Very high draft pick next year and rare two bad crops in a row and Tomlin reign of mediocrity ends.
His issue is he wants the guarantee he will be the starter. Even if the Steelers draft a QB, this should be an easy ask for them to give. Fields should be the QB1 in OTA's, the preseason, and the start of the season. They royally screwed this up if they lose him. If they sign Rodgers, it will be a huge mistake that will set the team back for years.

They've been nothing BUT setting the team back for years for how long now? Nothing changes. Clown-lin in charge is bad, bad for Steelers football.
Well, is there any Pitt QB who will embarrass them like Marino in 1984? I'd say we are safe there.

No surprise here! Justin has a bad taste of being pulled after a 4-2,start and never regaining the top spot when Russ started the slide.
I think more than anything he wants guarantee of starting job and may not trust Tomlin.
He gets to FA I think he’s gone and then we’re stuck with Russ who the Steelers will say they wanted all along.
I’ve seen enough of Russ in his eleven game audition. It’s like I said before last season…. Takes a lot of sacks, doesn’t use the middle of the field, and has very limited mobility. I have a feeling he’s going to be the guy. I don’t think there’s any market for him.

You should watch DK Sports Daily shot for last Friday. It goes deep into the making up of player’s agents.
Fields has the type of agent that doesn’t necessarily look out for the player. Gets out there as to even create false narratives. Think similar to the agent LeVeon Bell had……….. to a degree.
Justin is pretty down to earth, but yet he hired this agent. I’ve said that he could have been signed sooner, Justin was conducive to that at one time.
Now it’s a wait and see and ultimately creating a RE-active decision on the Steelers part.
I haven’t had any priv y to any insider information, but neither has anyone else. I just hope this gets done even if having to pay way more than most here think.

We have one proven yet I would say fragile WR,that I’ve said from day one will bolt for FA as soon as he can. We have an OLine that is rebuilding and have yet to prove itself. We have a TE that I believe could be a Top 3,but the system doesn’t allow him to shine,we have one RB that has yet to prove himself as a legitimate #1 option. Hmmmmm,is there anything else. We have a OC that in my eyes has yet to prove himself of worth. We have a HC that has put all this on the Field. And without going into detail,let’s just say I have no confidence at all in his abilities to develop an offensive scheme that will garner success. The last 5+ years have been brutal offensively. And lastly we have an Owner that seems to enable this production.
What top QB or WR would want to come here? Only the ones past their prime dreaming about past glory and wanting another great payday. We are becoming a graveyard for QB’s already. The only way is hitting it through the draft.

I felt the legit liked Kenny. I do not see them having anyone to reach for at 1.21. There are what three QBs projected in that round. There are like 8 teams needing QB. Now a couple will get a vet but if you need a qb and you are taking one of those dudes besides Maybe Darnold or perhaps Fields......you are likely going QB anyhow. Giants, Jets, Atlanta, Browns, just off top of my head are for sure in market. Then like the Colts, Raiders, Seahawks, no draftworthy QB is going to make it to the Steelers.

Probably not, but in Cheap Art II's mind, cheaper is always the collective all-encompassing factor (except only when dealing with Big Ben or Clown-lin). Look at last year's QB situation: he chooses Russ and Fields as the ongoing QBs to deal with. Why would that be? Both were screaming deals and so he magically lands on both being his QB options for 2024. Russ came in as basically free. And just like magic, he ends up our starting QB. All 5 consecutive losses and all of the 5' 9" QB. You got to wonder why he can't seem to see open receivers running down the field.

Not really unless they give him a multi-year deal. In fact, any QB they overpay with a multi-year contract would set the team back for years. Right now, until they can find the right QB, go with cheap, short-term stopgaps. Even holding out for Fields to develop, they should not overpay.
Atlanta is not taking a QB. They have Penix from last year...and I doubt the Colts take one either.
We're gonna need to move up to 11 to have a chance at a blue chipper QB...

Yes you are correct. My bad as the kids say. I wouldn't rule out Colts though. They are not moving up to 11 for Jaxson Dart. They are going to get a bridge guy and wait for a better opportunity. Going just rookie QB is a rebuild. They are not rebuilding under Tomlin. Tgey may take a QB but not in the first round this draft.

The free agency class is a disaster. The draft class at qb is a disaster. They better meet Fields at his starter terms. Just give him a 3 yr 70 million deal and be done with it.
I just don't believe there is one for the taking. Kenny was the first QB taken on a poor crop. There is 3 guys listed as first round picks currently. And not a chance they last, none are really worth trading up for and the Steelers don't have much to leverage on that trade.
