Tough to pick from with the human highlight reel, Kendrick "Turnstile" Green, but this one certainly makes the clip:

"Oh, move him to guard!"

Yeah, sure. Brilliant. Make sure he has a 320 lb. athlete over his nose EVERY play, and not just against some 3-man fronts, yeah, that'll do it.

Anybody now defending passing on Creed Humphrey needs a serious mental health checkup.

Aaaaand the guy they passed on with the 2nd round pick, Creed Humphrey, dominating Pro-Bowler Cam Heyward:

That choice is going to haunt the Steelers for years.

To be fair on that play you had two on Cam which contributed to him being on his heels. Easy to run out of gas on a play with two bodies sapping your strength. Not that Creed wasn't the better option for the Steelers.

I watched a replay of the Steelers vs. the Vikings and focused just on Green. You cannot appreciate how genuinely horrible he is until you focus on just him. Bad does not do his awfulness justice. Flaccidly horrendous? Embarrassingly incompetent? Laughably unqualified? All of the above.

Meanwhile, watch Creed Humphrey - he calls the blocking and the assignments are solid. He takes on defensive tackles and stuffs them on passing plays and pushes them aside on most running plays. He does not whiff, does not stand there holding his dick as his assignment is crushing his QB, does not airmail snaps, and does his job very, very well a huge percentage of the time.

Passing on Humphrey was a ****-up of the highest order and those who made the decision need to answer for it.

Meanwhile, Green needs to sit. He will probably whiff on hitting the bench and land on somebody's foot, but I am willing to take the gamble.

They need to sit Green the last two games and start Hassenauer. At least he's a natural center and a better option at this point than Green. Green needs some serious off season work to build his strength and come back at his natural position guard. And he should be a a backup at that providing depth. The guy gets devoured by these bigger, stronger defensive lineman.

Not sure he is even going to cut it as a G and the team shouldn't take stock in it.

Green's only real option is at center. He's not much smaller than Pouncey was. He's too small to play guard but not center. He needs to get in an NFL weight room and have an NFL offseason. Hopefully, he can strengthen the right areas and work on better technique. They will give him every opportunity to keep the C job but hopefully, they will have the balls to move to someone else if he hasn't dramatically improved heading into camp next year. They should sit him for Hosenfeffer as Green has also hit the rookie wall.

Yep.

Watching him getting absolutely abused by NFL defensive tackles and NT's does not give me confidence he will ever be an NFL-quality interior lineman. I mean it's one thing if he struggles once in a while against an elite nose tackle, but he is thrown around like a rag doll against anybody he faces.

Seriously, Derrick Nnadi?

Green hit the rookie wall in the first few weeks of the season. He was a guy I really had to sell myself on after they drafted him. The way he plays an offseason in the weight room doesn’t seem like a fix. He’s been flat out bad.

Moore, Green, Smith, and Humphrey got a picture after the game. Man, what could have been if we had those two guys instead of the two we got. You’d have the interior built and could focus on the tackles next year. Big miss by the front office this year.

They should approach free agency and the draft like they aren't expecting him to start. Really only way you can approach the problem successfully.

Yep. Misses that big will drag down a team for several years. The degree of horrible regarding the decision to pass on Humphrey in the 2nd is patently obvious at this point. Also, Trey Smith was a great pick by KC and some on this forum - Supe in particular - were high on Smith, pointing out that Tennessee's problems were not due to him. Also, 6th round?!? Nope, pass on Smith and take a guy whose selection I can defend - Quincy Roche - and then CUT HIM and watch him do really well with the Giants.

Not just a ****-up, but a ****-up squared.

Only the Steelers, with one of the worst OL situations in the league, pass on all of the top tackle prospects in a deep tackle draft as well as such a talented center prospect.

You are spot on saying they need to approach the draft with center as an opening. Tyler Linderbaum is at the top of my draft board.

The Steelers traded a future fourth for Loudermilk, who wasn’t even on some draft boards. I like him as a developmental guy, but the Steelers get their guy regardless of round. Give me Smith in the fourth over a guy like Buddy Johnson, who has special teams player and zero impact defender written all over him.

I think Greens ceiling in the NFL is backup guard. Ok to spot start but not every day starter. He must get stronger though this off season. I hope to hell Tomlin isn't sold on this guy being the starting center moving forward next season or we will have a repeat of this season. That's my concern!

If he's getting abused this bad, one off-season in the weight room won't make up that deficit. It's more like 2-3 years going the natural route. If he even has the athletic ability to play at a blue chip starter level. They need a badass center now,not a project that in all probability won't reach the level they need.

On another note I'm concerned with some of the drafting moves we make. Taking Edmunds in the first when teams had him as a third and fourth round selection. We could have gotten this guy in the third and if someone else grabbed him before us, oh well. Then trading 2022 fourth round pick for Loudermilk who I think can be good depth player but they could have had him later without trading a pick. A few years ago trading a fifth for TE Nick Vennet who was just a guy who do nothing here. Moving up 10 spots in the 2019 draft giving up our 2'nd round pick in that draft and our third in the 2020 draft, to select an undersized ILB whose looking more and more like a bust. Reaching for a Jarvis Jones in the middle of the draft who it was reported had spinal stenosis which should have been a red flag, panicking and selecting Artie Burns because they needed a CB who was nothing special and could have taken better talent. Sanquez Golden in the second round who never played a game for us. There is more but this post is too long now. All these moves and many more has finally come to fruition and now they want Tomlin to retool this thing. Holy crap!

Green is probably ranked 50-60th in the league for centers. Most other team's backups are better than him.

"Hey Ben, enjoy your last season. We're going to start this guy all season for you."

-Tomlin.

Golsen is the only one on your list that I cab excuses the kid had no injury flags, it was a case of bad luck, like Shazier.

Golson just couldn't find the field. However we did find gold with his teammate Mike Hilton whom we should have kept. Oh well!

I am actually hopeful with Moore. He has been coming along as the season went on. I think next season he’ll be fine and even better than this year. Green- let him bulk up and get some good off season coaching/work in and give him a short leash next year. He is extremely lost out there

Green has a small frame so there really isn't much room to bulk up. I also don't know if he can add enough functional strength to make up for the lost part you describe. Way too much of this throughout the season.

I have hope for Dan Moore but it may be more wishful thinking. He's at least shown a few things this year. The problem is he has given up a ton of pressures and sacks. He probably needed a full two years of development before getting on the field and he's in there as a rookie.

Freiermuth was a solid pick for us at a position of need, especially since Ebron is unreliable and soon to be departing. Good hands and the man can block, perfect Steelers type of TE who will be here for many years, so the value is about even. The mistake we made was not so much passing on Humphrey, but passing on Quinn Meinzerz in the 3rd who was there for the taking, and who's been solid for the Broncos and can play either guard or center. So we could've had Harris, Freiermuth, and a solid Meinzerz anchoring the line for our first 3 picks if we had made the correct selection. Now we have to hope that somehow Green can be coached up and developed otherwise that 3rd pick is a wasted one.

Sorry, disagree. You are talking about getting a good player at a position the team just does not count on vs. an elite player at a position that was a vacuum that screamed to be filled.

Every pre-draft ranking noted that Humphrey was a very, VERY good prospect. His raw athletic skill numbers were the best ever seen for a center. He did everything well - bench, vertical, broad jump, 40, shuttle, with insane quickness at 10 yards in the 40.

He was also a 3-year starter at Oklahoma with film to support the numbers. He was considered a late-first round, early 2nd round talent and was there for the Steelers at 57.

Freiermuth is a good player, likely to be a very good player. Humphrey looks like a multi-year All-Pro. I take Humphrey 9 times out of 10 this past April, and 11 times out of 10 now that we see the film and numbers match up.

Meinerz looks like a solid guard as well. Jesus, if the Steelers go Harris, Humphrey, Meinerz, guaran-*******-tee they don't run toss plays on 3rd or 4th and 1.

And here's a clip of Quinn Meinerz, selected 98 by the Donkeys, 11 picks after the Steelers took Turnstile Green:

What a ****-up of a draft. I know some were thrilled with the draft early on since the first four picks were starting, but in retrospect, the Steelers passed on some very, very good interior line prospects for no credible reason.

In closing, Kendrick "Turnstile, Get My QB Killed, I Suck" Green blows. And sucks. And has waaay too long a nickname.

Drafting midgets for their position is a Tomlin staple, see Archer and Bush. He thinks he is smarter than anyone else and that his football genius can buck the players being outliers. We see how that has worked out for us.
