Kendrick Green "highlight"

I hope I'm wrong, I just don't think Green is a quality NFL center.
I don't think he's quality anything expect for drawing penalties and bad snaps.

I really don't know what to think. I find it hard to believe that he has completely regressed into absolute crap from earlier in the season when it looked like the entire line was improving. I know the scheme is horrible, the offense is horrible, and the OL coach clearly wasn't the right guy... but does that mean that Green is crap? There are so many things wrong, it's hard to say it's all this or it's all that. Pouncey wasn't the strongest, but he was athletic. I guess we'll see, there's just so much wrong with this whole year, it's hard to tell anything really...

I don't think the line ever played particularly well. Instead it has just been so awful that any signs of competence and that someone equated to them playing well. Pouncey was athletic and looked like he belonged from Day 1. JC Hassenauer, who isn't any good, looks like a Pro Bowler compared to what Green has shown.

This entire year so far has been a shitshow led by Tomlin. Green and Moore don't get passes and neither does anyone but I will wait until at least next year to label anyone a bust. Green probably shouldn't have been the starter and Hosenfeffer or someone else should have but that is the choice Tomlin made. Green has obviously hit the rookie wall over the past few weeks a regressed. It might be good if he doesn't start this week due to injury and maybe next week as well.

I've yet to see any of Green's strengths. Am I missing something or why does Green get the benefit of the doubt of an offseason of strength training while guys like Jarvis Jones and Artie Burns were recognized as busts early on? Did I just not see some potential Green will develop into a starting-caliber center that others are seeing this season? As you pointed out, Green's athleticism is why they drafted him over Humphrey (despite Humphrey's historic RAS for the center position), and we don't see Green dominating in this area.
SF448, i cannot refute anything you said there.

The cases where i've seen fleeting glimpses of Green's speed have been on plays where Najee bounced it outside and Green is seen upfield of Najee near the sideline! - and other such plays where Green is upfield in the replay.

Canada just will not call plays to Green's strength - the outside zone running game.

i cannot give him the benefit of the doubt and you've got a point. The only thing i can say is Green was drafted for only one reason: he can fly. i think rather than burning down the entire OL, i'd keep Green at starting Center and burn down the existing running game.

The issue is a quarter of the time he gets downfield but doesn’t make the block…

He also plays with hideous leverage… he has a frame and athletic ability , he just needs a lot of work and shouldn’t be starting year 1

Pouncey played center throughout his college career.

The Steelers apparently considered Green a "plug and play" center despite him hardly playing there in college.

As Insaniti said, Green has impressive athleticism, though it has not translated to the field with any consistency.

They asked way too much of him right away, but I can still see him developing in a year or two.

Coaching will be the key, which is hard to be optimistic about, to be honest.

in an inside zone running game, i agree with you. Green suck with leverage. It's almost like he's never going to be stout in there.

But when it comes to moving his *** outside and washing linebackers, Green might be so great - we just may never know.
