Kenny to be benched?

Looking ahead, what if Mitch plays well over the next few weeks? Say the team goes 3-0 and Mitch throws for 200 yards/game with 5-6 TDs and 0-1 turnovers. Does Pickett go back into the lineup? I don't how they could.
It's a pleasant fiction, but I just don't see it. Mitch is what he is, and I just do not see any QB just killing it in this system.

I'd love to see it happen though.

I am interested in seeing a post Canada gameplan with Mitch. Last week in relief play, he made the right reads/throws coming in cold. Short game planning week and the extended time off next week should let Mitch adjust things with Faulkner and Sullivan and put in what he likes and his input. Remember, Mitch did play under 2 good coordinators in Nagy and Dabol although he was backup for Dabol, he was still involved with how that offense ran. Perhaps Mitch will be in an offense tonight that he’s more comfortable with. He doesn’t need to be a world beater, he just needs to be efficient and not become Mitch Toorisky in the red zone

I disagree. We've seen massive changes in 'how we approach things' w/ Omar Khan at GM. We've also seen our OC jettisoned mid-season - something that hasn't happened since JMM was a tike...
OK, but Canada DID make it into his 3rd year; that's not too reassuring when it comes to "change." Sure we axed him mid-season for the 1st time since a coordinator has been fired mid-season since 1941, but the fact that he even made it to the '23 season is madness. That shows me Tomin has too much power.

No he didn't. He threw at least three directly into double and even triple coverage. He got really lucky to not get picked.

I feel this way about Kenny. I think it's safe to say he is not a generational talent. But I'm not comfortable saying he is no good. So let's assume you wanna draft a new guy next year. Let's play a game called qbs drafted higher than KP or costed more capital who are or look like busts. I will start.......Justin Fields.
Round 2. Trey Lance

My concern with Kenny is not the sophmore slump. If it was a sophmore slump he would still have a game or two where he would throw 300 yards and have 2-3 TDs. Instead he has been consistently depressing.

You still have to give KP a year under a new OC. Canaduh instilled a lot of the bad ju-ju into KP. Any 1st rounder, and especially at QB, deserves a chance through his 3rd year (2nd starting season for him). I think you have to go into next year thinking KP is QB1. He needs the reps with the 1's in the preseason and camp, especially with hopefully an entirely new O staff. If things still suck past the halfway point in the year, then, you might think of pulling him.
Depends on who the new coordinator is.
If it's another internal hire, it won't matter who's playing QB.

I'll go to my usual response on this and there are others. Allen didn't have IT his 1st 2 or so years. He finally got the right offseason coach and came back with IT and now he's one of the best in the game. KP can come back and win games. That's very important. He does have things to work on but Canaduh was definitely holding him back. You have to give him next year to see what he has. I know I would. And, as I said before, if he isn't much better next year under and entirely new O coaching staff (if Tomlin will even go that far), then you start looking for a later 1st round QB who might be better than him because that's where our .500 or so team will be picking.
Tomlin will 90% likely hire from within for the new OC position. You know it, I know it, EVERYONE knows it.

Under Canaduh, Ben, Trubisky, and KP have failed. Canaduh is the common denominator who may have ruined KP coming in as a rookie. I said it countless times before, this is exactly what the Clowns did to many 1st round top QB's coming into the NFL. Under Canaduh, we were the factory of crapness. KP has had less than one full year as the QB1 with the proper reps, etc. with the 1's. I really can't see the Steelers giving up on him heading into next year. Who else are they going to try? It won't be a draft pick becase even if they lose out, they still aren''t getting a top QB in the draft and the same will happen next year. And, they will still be under Tomlin and living in his fears.

I needed some hope heading into last night. It was wishful thinking, but Mitch was worse than I expected.
