lawrence timmons missing from the Dolphins breaking news

It can't be a player beef. No reason to leave because of that. Unless someone banged his girl. I'm thinking it's front office or coaching staff said something reprehensible to him.

Here's the interesting fact of this story, is that if a player went AWOL in the past, the team immediate throws them under the bus. In this instance, silence. That is telling to me, that the organization did something inappropriate that the NFLPA may get involved with. If that's the case, you're looking at a lawsuit.

PFT says it was personal and he want to return to playing immediately. But he will see a Dr first? whatever that means

If I had to guess he is having depression issues. But that is purely a guess.

Not my problem, let the Dolphins worry about it

One of the Dolphins coaches was quoted as saying Timmons will be back and on the field but that this particular issue was something, "they have never seen before". Color me intrigued. Wonder if it was some kind of bizarre mental health issue...or maybe a crazy side effect of a medication or something.

or maybe it's worse than that

'Fins unsure if Timmons will remain with team

Dolphins coach Adam Gase is unsure if SLB Lawrence Timmons will remain with the team going forward.

Timmons is dealing with a personal situation. He was back with the team on Monday. Expect clarity to emerge some time in the next 48 hours.

Dolphins haven’t made any decisions about Lawrence Timmons

The mystery of Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons continues to deepen not resolve.

Despite reports suggesting that Timmons will return to the Dolphins and, presumably, everything will continue as if nothing happened, the Dolphins have made no decisions about what to do with Timmons, who signed a two-year, $12 million deal with a $5.5 million signing bonus earlier this year and a whopping $11 million fully guaranteed at signing.

It would be unwise to cut Timmons over the incident, given the sizable guarantee. They could, at most, suspend him four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team, which would wipe out all future guarantees and permit recovery of a portion of the signing bonus. They then could cut him, if that’s what the organization decides to do.

Coach Adam Gase addressed the situation with reporters on Monday, but didn’t really provide any new information.

“I have nothing to add for what I have right now,” Gase said. “Really just gathering a lot of information.”

Gase added that he hasn’t spoken to Timmons, and that he has “no idea” whether Timmons was even in the building. It became clear through Gase’s comments that he’s far more concerned about the players who capped a trying 10 days of hurricane-related delays and relocations and turmoil by fighting for a win, and that in turn he doesn’t have much sympathy for guys who failed to participate.

“Be on time and play hard,” Gase said regarding his rules. “I don’t know if that’s real hard.”

Asked about his tolerance level for violations of those principles, Gase said, “What do you think? I got two rules. It’s not that hard.”

It sounds like it will be hard for Timmons to get back in the good graces of the team and, more specifically, his coach.

Boot him or take him back, but Dolphins must be rid of Timmons distraction fast

Adam Gase had a chance Monday to convey understanding, or even sympathy, for the mysterious matter of veteran linebacker Lawrence Timmons going AWOL from the Miami Dolphins on the eve of Sunday’s season opener.

The head coach did neither, with short, clipped answers that not only served to divert the line of questioning but also presented a stern view of the entire situation.

Any updates on Timmons? “Not currently.”

Is he in the building.? “No idea” — followed by a declaration that Gase’s priority is with players who actually played in the 19-17 road victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Later in his Monday postmortem at Davie headquarters Gase said something just as telling when asked what hard-fast rules he has for his players.

“Be on time and play hard,” he said.

And what would be the tolerance level for those who fail to meet those rules?

“What do you think?,” said Gase, unsmiling. “I got two rules.”

Disappearing from the team Saturday without notice for several hours would very likely qualify as not being on time.

Clearly, the Dolphins must make a fast and certain decision regarding Timmons:

Dismiss him from the team immediately for his behavior.

Absolve him to a degree he’s back in the locker room and on the field.

Or take him back but only after an admonishment and perhaps a club fine.

It is the indecision, including Gase’s Monday responses, that could fester into a distraction if allowed to continue. There are reports that what led Timmons to go AWOL in turn led to his seeking professional help.

There have been other rumors. Already, questions about Timmons rose to the top of the media hit list Monday, ahead of Sunday’s win, Jay Cutler’s debut, Hurricane Irma or the next opponent.

'Fins indefinitely suspend Lawrence Timmons

Dolphins suspended SLB Lawrence Timmons indefinitely for violating team rules.

Dealing with a personal situation, Timmons went AWOL from the team on Saturday night. He was reportedly back with the club on Monday, but the Dolphins have decided the transgression must be punished. "Indefinite" team suspensions have a way of lasting only a game or two, but Timmons' situation is extremely murky.

Anything from one week to the Dolphins moving on completely is on the table. Under the CBA, four weeks is the max length of Timmons' suspension. The ban should void the $4.5 million guaranteed in Timmons' deal.

So he was caught heading to Pittsburgh..

His family is still in the burgh.

The cat is homesick, and doesn't want to be away from his family.

Some people don't adjust to being away from their families well.

I am taking it as this was the case here, unless I hear otherwise.
