Date: January 8, 2018 In September, President Donald Trump set in motion a process that will strip protections from nearly 800,000 Dreamers, young people who came to the United States more than a decade ago and who are American by every measure except a piece of paper. Ending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) will lead to the deportation of Dreamers, separating them from their homes, their communities, and their loved ones— hundreds of thousands of whom are U.S. citizens. Ending DACA will drive these young people— 91 percent of whom are in the workforce—out of their jobs, upending their ability to live a life with dignity, to provide for their family members, and to build a future that benefits all of us. Ending DACA will prevent many of these young people from pursuing higher education, choking off their tremendous human potential and squandering talent that this country has invested in through years of primary and secondary school education. These harms to Dreamers are not off in the distant future. They will not just hover on the horizon until March. They are happening today and they have been happening every day for the last four months. Nearly 15,000 DACA recipients already have lost protection from deportation; each time Congress forgoes an opportunity to pass legislation—as it did on September 8, December 8, and December 21—more lives are thrown into disarray and ruined. Now is the time for Democrats to stand on principle and to fight hard. The fight to protect Dreamers is not only a moral imperative, it is also a critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success. Donald Trump and the Republican Party continue to jeopardize the futures of millions of Dreamers and their families and throw up roadblocks to meaningful legislative reform, and it is up to Democrats to stand up for them. As with all of the chaos in 2017, Donald Trump created this problem. It was entirely within his power to leave DACA intact. If a legal challenge to the program had been brought he could have allowed it to be addressed by the courts. The current crisis could have been averted. Instead,
Trump seized an opportunity to play to the racists in his base by proactively and abruptly ending the program....

I think most people know this.....not that the DNC would ever admit it, but they know full well.

I think it should be assumed that anything a political action committee or political body does that appears benevolent on the surface is actually being done for self serving reasons. Politicians and political activists don't have a benevolent bone in their bodies. If you look up self serving in the dictionary, the definition should be "Politician".

Not to mention the narrative that voter ID laws discriminates against poor people. The fact is, it will reveal the ugly truth that illegals have been voting in large numbers.

I'm of a mind that it really doesn't matter that much who the candidate is, just some basic direction is all that we get anyway. Fred knows.....

Coping with Democracy: Overcoming the Shame of Voting

I do not see how anyone with the slightest self-respect could vote.

Anyway, you can’t vote for a candidate, because there aren’t any. The apparent existence of candidates is a sleight-of-hand.

Do you believe that, say, Gore was a candidate? No. He, like any candidate, is a committee consisting of three speechwriters, a gestures coach, two pollsters, a makeup artist, an image consultant, and several crooked advisers. An alleged candidate is a phantasm, a blank slate or, in the case of Al, a mass of unflavored bean curd.

A candidate is what his advisers tell you he is. Think about it. Often you can read in the Washington Post that the candidate, Senator Palmoil, say, is having image problems. Focus groups have discovered, the writer will explain, that he is seen as Insufficiently Manly, that he is not thought by the voters to be adequately decisive, and that his delivery of a speech is positively Caesarian.

Sure enough, in his next appearance on television, Palmoil will appear wearing a codpiece. It may have a NOW sticker on it so as not to be threatening to women, and not be excessively protuberant, and perhaps be in an ambiguous beige so as not to be clearly black or white, but it will look no end manly. He will then say Something Decisive, invented for him by the speechwriters and crooked advisers. He will contemplate at the teleprompter with an unblinking pole-axed stare, to communicate firmness, and avoid waving his hands around as if he were swatting bugs.

For the next week the talking heads of the Yankee Capital will drone about the effectiveness of the candidate’s access of masculinity, about the precise tone of voice in the saying of Something Decisive, and whether the NOW sticker on the codpiece was overkill. In short, the mechanism of deception will be discussed until it collapses into rubble.

I’m going to vote for that?

Anyway, you won’t know who you’re electing until after you have elected him. A campaign is intended to hide the candidate, not to reveal him. The truth is that few candidates have the knowledge or experience to run a Shriners’ picnic.

A crucial point however is that American elections are not about policy, but about the division of spoils-appointments, contracts, invitations to parties at the White House. Sure, Republicans behave slightly differently from Democrats-but only slightly. Which is to say that elections don’t matter.

The economy determines the fate of this country. Presidents don’t. They are at worst annoyances and embarrassments, at best a sort of national hobby. What counts is Intel, Microsoft, Boeing, Lucent Technologies, Cisco, AT&T, agribusiness, the Internet. We survive on a strong economic back and a weak governmental mind. Always have, always will.

That argument so ludicrous its the closest thing to an admission from self serving democrats.

All about votes. It always has been. It's not news. It's fact. The democrats could give two ***** about those folks. Just as they give two ***** about all of the slums, high crime and employment rates in those demographics. Just vote for us. Nothing will change, but we will make sure to keep you enslaved to us.

And this is why Trump.

Exactly. There must exist a permanent underclass for democRATS to stay in business.

And this is why Trump.

Trump has an ego, that can't be denied, but he has also has a genuine love of country... unlike most career politicians.

Libtards refuse to acknowledge that, so blinded by hate they only view Trump as an attention seeking narcissist, in it for only himself.

Of course. I'll bet you California is in play without the huge numbers of illegals voting DNC.

Somewhere Tibs is shocked and devastated to learn that Democrats don't actually care about illegal aliens and that he's been taken hook, line and sinker with the lie.

"But...they told me, they care about illegal aliens. Dreamers, ya know? A better world. That we are humanitarians. And now...now...it's all about...VOTES??? They don't give a **** about those Salvadorans?"
