Let the Mocks begin.......

21. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss (6-2, 225 pounds)
The Steelers started to love Dart late in the pre-draft process during his rise as a big-armed, athletic, mentally- and physically-tough QB prospect. He's a great fit for Arthur Smith's offense and can correct the Kenny Pickett first-round wrong.

83. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • R.J. Harvey, RB, UCF (5-8, 205 pounds)
The Steelers have Jaylen Warren with Najee Harris walking in free agency, but they may be pivoting to more speed and quickness overall in their backfield.

123. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • David Walker, EDGE, Central Arkansas (6-1, 263 pounds)

156. Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Ajani Cornelius, OT, Oregon (6-5, 310 pounds)

185. Pittsburgh Steelers (from Bears through Seahawks)

  • Tim Smith, DT, Alabama (6-4, 302 pounds)

229. Pittsburgh Steelers (from Falcons through Eagles)

  • Kaden Prather, WR, Maryland (6-3, 204 pounds)

21. Dart, QB - since Nolen, and Grant are both gone, I stick with Dart.
83. Jordan Philips, DT - too early for a RB, and Harvey isn't much different from a guy I'll get later.
123. JJ Pegues, DT - others considered, Dorian Strong, DJ Giddens, Jaylen Reed.
156. Ajani Cornelius, OT - great value here, I'll stick with him.
185. Miles Frazier, OG - trenches!!
229. Raheim Sanders, RB - dealt with some lower leg injuries that took some speed away, but is healthier now. Ran a 4.4 and still has the size to run someone over if needed. Nicknamed the rocket for a reason.

With AI, the prompting is a key element. Here is what perplexity AI provided. I noticed that the draft order was incorrect and I asked if trades were assumed in the output and it confirmed that yes, trades were made. So, here it is.

1. Tennessee Titans - Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The Titans address their most pressing need at quarterback with Ward, a dynamic passer who can lead their rebuild.

2. Cleveland Browns - Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

With a need to protect Kenny Pickett and improve their offensive line, Membou is a high-upside tackle who fits their scheme.

3. New York Giants - Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Carter’s elite pass-rushing ability fills a major need for the Giants’ defense and provides an immediate impact player.

4. Arizona Cardinals - Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

Hunter’s versatility as a cornerback or wide receiver gives Arizona flexibility to address multiple positions of need.

5. Denver Broncos - Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

With Courtland Sutton’s contract expiring soon, McMillan adds length and athleticism to Denver's receiving corps.

6. Los Angeles Rams - Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

The Rams bolster their defensive line with Graham, a disruptive interior force who can replace Aaron Donald long-term.

7. Green Bay Packers - Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Jeanty’s explosiveness rejuvenates Green Bay’s backfield while addressing their need for offensive playmakers.

8. Washington Commanders - Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

Warren provides Washington with a versatile tight end who can dominate as both a blocker and receiver.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jalon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

Walker adds much-needed pass-rushing ability to Tampa Bay’s defense in transition.

10. Atlanta Falcons - Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia

Atlanta addresses its long-standing pass-rush woes with Williams’ size and athleticism.

Picks 11–20

11. Chicago Bears - Will Campbell, OT, LSU

Campbell solidifies the offensive line to protect Caleb Williams and improve the Bears' run game.

12. Minnesota Vikings - Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

Starks enhances Minnesota's secondary with his range and ball skills.

13. New England Patriots - Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

Odunze provides Drake Maye with a reliable target to elevate New England’s passing attack.

14. Seattle Seahawks - Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

Banks strengthens Seattle’s offensive line and helps protect Geno Smith.

15. Cleveland Browns (via trade) - Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Coleman adds size and playmaking ability to Cleveland’s receiving corps.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars - Walter Nolen, DL, Mississippi

Nolen reinforces Jacksonville’s defensive front with his power and quickness.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

Barron is a versatile cornerback who addresses Pittsburgh’s secondary needs effectively.

18. Miami Dolphins - Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

Loveland gives Miami a dynamic tight end to complement their offensive weapons.

19. Detroit Lions - Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

Emmanwori bolsters Detroit’s secondary with physicality and coverage ability.

20. Los Angeles Chargers - Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Golden improves the Chargers’ receiving corps with polished route-running skills for Justin Herbert.

Picks 21–32

21. Baltimore Ravens - Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama

Booker strengthens Baltimore’s interior offensive line for both run blocking and pass protection.

22. Dallas Cowboys - Josh Conerly Jr., OT

Conerly provides Dallas with depth at tackle while addressing their aging offensive line.

23. Buffalo Bills - Derrick Harmon (DT), Oregon

Harmon adds rotational depth on Buffalo's defensive front to complement Ed Oliver.

24. Kansas City Chiefs - Luther Burden III (WR), Missouri

Burden gives Patrick Mahomes another explosive weapon in the passing game.

25. Philadelphia Eagles - Nic Scourton (EDGE), Texas A&M

Scourton strengthens Philadelphia's pass rush opposite Haason Reddick.

26. San Francisco 49ers - Aireontae Ersery (OT), Minnesota

Ersery provides San Francisco with an heir apparent to Trent Williams at left tackle.

27. Carolina Panthers - Trey Amos (CB), Mississippi

Amos upgrades Carolina's secondary with his breakout potential as a lockdown cornerback.

28. Las Vegas Raiders - Shedeur Sanders (QB), Colorado

Sanders offers Las Vegas a developmental quarterback option behind Geno Smith.

29. New Orleans Saints - Darien Porter (CB), Iowa State

Porter improves New Orleans’ secondary depth with his athletic upside as a converted cornerback.

30. Houston Texans (via trade) - Elic Ayomanor (WR), Stanford

Ayomanor gives Houston another weapon for C.J. Stroud in the passing game.

31. Arizona Cardinals (via trade) - Donovan Ezeiruaku (EDGE), Boston College

Ezeiruaku adds depth to Arizona's pass rush alongside Abdul Carter.

32. Denver Broncos (via trade) - Xavier Watts (S), Notre Dame

Watts shores up Denver's secondary with his versatility as both a coverage safety and run defender.
Look at 13 and 15.....Berm's right

21. Dart, QB - since Nolen, and Grant are both gone, I stick with Dart.
83. Jordan Philips, DT - too early for a RB, and Harvey isn't much different from a guy I'll get later.

229. Raheim Sanders, RB - dealt with some lower leg injuries that took some speed away, but is healthier now. Ran a 4.4 and still has the size to run someone over if needed. Nicknamed the rocket for a reason.
21. Nick Emmanwori, S, South Cockalina.
Minkah's 29 and if last season is any indicator, is slowing. Emmanwori is a HUGE dude to play Safety at 6-3, 200. Considered Dart, as well.

83. Jordan Phillips, DT, Maryland. We just absolutely need some beef on the line.

123. Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon. see above

156. Dont'e Thornton, WR, Tennessee. Board darling and diamond in the rough. The only position we coach up is WR and Thornton doesn't need much coaching up. Could have waited a round, but is what it be.

185. Donovan Edwards, RB, Meatchicken. Just a feeling he'll be a better pro than college player.

229. Brady Cook, QB, Missouri. Most unheralded QB in the draft and certainly not the best. Career should be as a backup. Flyer on him and if he progresses he's gold. if not, it was a 7th

That mock should be taken out behind the barn and shot. Abjectly horrible on all levels.

He absolutely is. AI is so flawed it's actually quite funny. I work with it a lot for my job and I've witnessed it spit out an answer that had NOTHING to do with the topic. They call it "Hallucination"

Oh we just call that “Coochin’”

I didn't want to do any more trading back as there is little to no chance of the Steelers doing so, but I did one more time to get back that 2nd round pick. This turned out pretty well. Took Harmon (DT) and Caldwell (NT with versatility, double team taker, and pass rush capable) both from Oregon's starting DL. This solidifies the DL now and moving forward when Heyward retires (probably after this year if I had to guess). I snagged Hampton to be our RB2 this year and RB1 after that. Shough was there in the 3rd (probably will be gone in the 2nd, though) as the Steelers will almost definitely snag a QB this year and possibly next year as well. Riley can be our nickel CB, and Tate is a good OG that can hopefully develop into a starter once Semeoulo is gone (probably after this year).

Agree. Most of the mocks are pointless (but fun for football junkies like myself) as players drop unrealistically far and the trades also fall into that category.

Lloyd and Windy do it here quite often.

Salute the nation

So...Shedur Sanders is going to be in the facility today.

https://nypost.com/2025/04/09/sport...eelers-before-2025-nfl-draft-in-curious-move/

Remember what I said, 'playstyle-wise' he's the closest player, at QB that we've had in a while. His accuracy is above the line and he can make every NFL throw. Does he have the probability to bring a circus with him, if we draft him, yes; but, in today's NFL - any young player can do this as they are all "influencers".

Shedur, like Ben, takes a lot of sacks because he doesn't throw the ball away but he doesn't throw INTs like Kenny "I'm a Brown Now" Pickett.

Mobility isn't his strong suit but as long as he gets the ball to his players - I'm ok w/ that.

Personally, and I'll end w/ this, if the OL gives the incumbent QB (Rudy included) sufficient time to throw, the offense COULD BE 100 times better than last year. The running game will need to be consistent and I'm sure the FO will address a suitable replacement for Najee.

Ok let the lamenting begin...

if Shedeur drops to 21, its a no-brainer to take him. That would indicate that Jaxson Dart was off the board as the 2nd QB and other talent was also drafted. I'll admit that Shedeur does have the arm to make all NFL throws. He also has the confidence and swagger that we've not had at QB since Ben. Being Deion's son, stepping onto an NFL field wouldn't be overwhelming since he's been getting loads of attention from the first time he put shoulder pads on. Per https://www.nfl.com/prospects/shedeur-sanders/32005341-4e47-8221-56fd-8e3864421298, his weaknesses are below:
  • Spacing and clearly defined route combinations make decision-making easier.
  • Drops beyond proper pocket depth and into edge rusher’s path.
  • Throws with a longer operation time.
  • Has completions on tape that will be interceptions in the pros.
  • Inconsistent bringing his lower half through his delivery.
  • Needs to become OK with taking profits and moving on.
  • Appears too confident in his off-platform game despite a lack of zip.
  • Doesn’t offer up much escapability quickness from the pocket.
  • Much too willing to take a big sack instead of throwing it away.
I don't know that we'd be able to fix much, or any, of that list with the current staff. The bolded lines are the ones that give me concern. His "inconsistency bringing his lower half through his delivery" could likely correct the "longer operation time" and "lack of zip" on "off-platform" throws. Kinda surprising that Neon didn't get those corrected - or maybe he corrected them as much as was possible.

I'd not move up to draft him, but would take him at 21.

I know he's an amazing player and will be for years, but I would include TJ Watt in a trade for a top 8 pick in order to draft Sanders.

TJ is amazing, but we aren't going anywhere without a qb and by the time we have a qb that can get us to the big show, TJ will be probably ready to retire.

The smart move is to use your assets and get the qb now. We have some good pieces on offense and we have two solid edge rushers. Just do it.

Problem is I am not locked into Sanders as having the IT factor. Plus the D scheme for how crappy it is would be twice as bad if TJ was shipped off. You are trying to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Team has too many holes to play swap and hope.

They're also not going to try to sign Rodgers and then move TJ.

If they aren't signing Rodgers and still need a qb they might. The foresight on the qb situation has been lacking.
Just not the way they do things. They don’t move top performers.
