Making Lemonade from Lemons

The coach has been picked. Now the next big question is quarterback. And that could take a few years to figure out. But make no mistake, this is ALL ABOUT the coach and QB tandem that is formed out of this hiring.
This is absolutely correct.

Say whatever you want about the head coach, coordinators, position coaching or the owner.

The most promising way to achieve a SB win is to employ a HOF QB, in their prime, on your roster.

Noll won 4 with Bradshaw. Cowher and Tomlin snagged 1 each with Ben.

Without the commodity of a HOF caliber QB on the roster, especially with the way the rules are structured in today's game, the propensity to win the SB is greatly diminished.

It's very interesting to me, seeing the current SB match up, with one QB (Maye) emerging as a front line starter with the potential to deemed great as his career progresses. He was the 3rd overall pick 2 years ago.

Darnold as well was a 3rd overall pick 6 years ago... And has certainly taken some time to develop. But he's played at a very high level the last two years.

Neither of these guys are being called future HOFers...yet.

Looking at our roster... We have a far past prime HOF qb... An unproven 6th round rookie and a career backup.

To think anything like a playoff win is in the cards for next season is folly to me right now. McCarthy at this point, with Kahn, needs a home run draft to get this team turned around with a QB of the future. The aged out HOFer playing with new or revamped systems on both sides of the ball might eek out a playoff win should the draft pan out nicely. Otherwise, I think a couple of tough seasons lie ahead.

I think one year closer to death is exactly what this franchise needs. Now that Tomlin is gone and the "no losing season" BS is finally gone, maybe we can actually suck enough to fix the QB situation around here. That's what it took to get Bradshaw and Roethlisberger. And that's normally what it takes historically around the league.

It takes a top-10 pick in the right draft. There are exceptions. There are times pick #15 or pick #20 work. There are times non-first rounders work (rare). But if we want it to happen sooner rather than later, 2026 HAS to be a disaster. And I say bring it on.

Because all signs are pointing to a bunch of the same BS that drove me away from this team for a decade. Maybe that's good enough for you guys. Maybe nonsense and undisciplined football that gets you blown out in the playoffs is exactly what everyone wants around here. But I don't want that at all. I want suckage. I want to see the worst disfunctional crap all year. I want Watt to demand a trade. I want Heyward to get so frustrated he retires.

Let's blow this **** up.

I just see no other way to get good. You guys might. Hell, some think you already have Brock Purdy on the roster and we are a WR and some magic free agent away from being a Super Bowl champion. I don't see any of that. Not even close.
Rodgers coming back for another season would be the definition of the same old bullshit. I don't know if Will Howard is the next Brock Purdy. Neither do you. But I'd like to find out sooner than later.

You want to blow it up, but you also want to bring Rodgers back? What? Another year with him as the Steelers' starting QB is another year of exactly what you don't want.

And that there is exactly why you bring in a bad stopgap QB that is easily benched, not Rodgers.
The Steelers already have a bad stopgap QB...Mason Rudolph.

If we're taking a mid round flier, F it, just take Allar. I think he has a 10 cent head, but that was the book on Josh Allen, too.
Please, for the love of God, no.

Allar is Christian Hackenberg 2.0.

Given Tomlin resigned, a new coach is not a sign of anything when it comes to the front office and ownership. What is more telling is that when Tomlin resigned all coaches were told to look for new jobs, which hopefully is a sign the higher ups do realise substantive change is needed.

Yeah “he resigned” before he got fired
He chose the lore honorable exit

The new coach being an offensive mind is definitely a sign in my book, as is the “resignation”
