Matt Canada is garbage.

I don't know if it's the offense he wants to run but rather the only one he can run.
 
I ask why this complete coaching staff is not on the hot seat. I do not know how many caught Tomlin post game but when a coach a head coach that seems to be the envy of the league is asked about the drop off pass to Harris on fourth down his quote is we ran out of bullets by then the question is why is he leading this team. The banner across this board and media in general for three games the off season and half of last year is Ben is the problem. Just look at the weakness in this team this year and really a few years. We lost physicality, no discipline, just terrible tackling, no blocking skills as we have no running game long before last year, receivers supposedly are strength that can not get separation and how many dropped balls, a secondary that has been suspect way more than not. , a defense that even playing good can not get off the field leading to a long distance for the offense. If Ben is the reason and should be gone than why is this complete coaching staff not on the hot seat as well? How many of these coaches would be picked by any other team. Why is Mr Rooney so madly in love with Tomlin, he has seen the style play of this team and how it has gone backwards . No leadership, no one can light the fire. Today after the half this defense three plays in a row gave up 12 yards each play, as Cincy went down the field and only by a penalty they kicked a field goal. Reality we should have lost to Buffalo if it was not the over throw to wide open receivers that would have been TD and a fluke block punt by missed Assignment blocking. Easy to blame Ben he is the only one man enough to stand up and point the finger at him. With all the self destructing penalties not once do you catch Tomlin lighting a fire on anyone on the sidelines. New offense not one thing looks different and Tomlin continued miss fire on fourth downs and his total melt down last game runs a play game already over, and a good receiver is down and out. So why is he and his coaching staff not the ones talked about here or on any upcoming sports media BSt talk show?

Ben's escapability is minimal at this point and you're underselling Rudolph's movement in the pocket. The fact is defenses have zero respect for the Steelers running or passing game right now. They aren't scared at all of Ben or the Steelers receivers.

Oh **** cmon that is some kind of Jimmied stat. Likely averaged in with the 7 hitch passes they throw every game. It isn't like teams are bringing pressure. They just let a front 5 eat the run and drop coverage. But he is surveying a lot and missing a ton of checks.

AND how could you blame them. The STEELERS have shown nothing to be scared of. Coaching has laxed to an unheard of degree. Injuries have decimated the entire team.

MOSTly though the coaching has shown nothing in regards to adjustments, accountability, and actually going out an doing it,........ coaching. Why does it take a 1/2 season or more to get a "dropsies" receiver to stay late and work the JUGGs machine. Why is the OL in such a shambles and no help with play calling. Play calling that is obtrocious in all aspects.

Not a rant but the STEELERS were once known as a physical team but since Tomlin has taken over that sense has eroded away to ***** football. There is not much physical left in our organization. Don't equate "Physical" with saggressive uncontrolled banter. Anybody can hit and fight and spit back but many cannot physically beat the man in front of you consistantly. Can't tackle with dominance or gang tanckle much. Claypool seems shy, not physical yet body dominant and is that due to not being coached up ? I think you get where I'm coming from here.

I don't have the answer as I'm not at practice or complex daily but I do know physicality / team identity / coaching / etc. all start at the top and the Head Coach is the top.


As for BEN, it is not all his fault but he is the ONLY one taking reponsibility. His ability may have slipped but he is getting VER MINIMAL hekp of any kind.OL is not gelling as fast as it should, play calling is abismal, Najee has been under utalized, where the hell is the FB. For some reason our game plan is the same stratagy that hasn't worked for quite awhile now and no imaginative or adjustment culture. He is the best QB on the roster but maybe a change may be needed, something to spark.


Both Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher would have stepped in on many facets of this coaching staff. We can ONLY compair Coach Tomlin to these two as they are the ONLY three to coach the steelers of late. Some say without BEN we will experience the 80s again.......... HELLO....... 3 PO wins in ten years is pretty near the 80s. What have we accomplished in the last ten years other than waste a bunch of talent along with a Franchise QB.

I hope they can regroup and find what is needed to make a successful season. I hope Coach Tomlin re-evaluates and steps up with more hands on OR hands off which ever seems to be needed. The players need coaching up on everything, tackling, running, covering, getting open, route and tree knowledge, everything and .....

including PHYSICALLITY, how to be tough. James Harrison comes to mind.........

Who is Matt Canada?? and why is he not doing his job?..It's not ALL Big Ben's fault...just 66%...as Ben goes..so does the team..if he plays well the team plays well and if he is off then the team is off...BB looks hurt and he kept "rubbing" his throwing arm during the game. It's not the same. Yes it is very sad that the "powers that be" have not had enough forsight to be "grooming" someone to take BB place when it is time for him to go (like now) . Everyone can see he has gotten slower...yes he can get the ball out fast, however you have to be able to move also. I know that we will have to go with what we have cause putting Mason Rudolf in will be like "throwing in the terrible towel".
 
The bad line plays into the D so many ways. First the don't have to blitz to get pressure. Pressure comes quick so the secondary can play close which leads to short passes not working. Also with everyone crowding up close we can not run the ball.

I absolutely agree with everything you say, but you must realize, this problem is NOT a zero-sum game. The coaching staff, the receivers, the schemes, the offensive line, they've all been 100% pitiful. But, Ben has also been pitiful as well, yes, he has...and you'd have to be blind or batshit crazy to think that Ben's gonna grow a wild hair out of his *** and revert back to his better days if threy only do this or they only change that..at this point, I think its safe to assume that he simply no longer has the ability to consistently play like he used to...for him, its pretty much over. His calling card for the majority of his prime, was making chicken salad outta chicken ****, and its as clear as can be, that he's simply not capable of hanging his hat on that reputation anymore. I mean, for the love of God, his inaccuracy on any ball thrown 15 yards or further is downright alarming, and thats just one aspect of how low his game has sunk. Some players just hit that wall like a sack of potatoes at 100mph (remember Peyton?), and Ben looks to be one of those guys.

But yeah, addressing the obvious about Ben doesnt take away from your points at all, you're absolutely correct about the everything else being putrid

Rudy isn't going to do dick with this OL. Haskins won't be any better. Hit some check downs, maybe.

This line has to become middle of the pack average if they want to hit .500 on the year. I'm moving closer to thinking Ben is done being the slinger. I'd take him as a seasoned manager behind a power running game. **** they had him throw it 58 times. That's not the running game commitment I thought they would do. Watch what happens to our passing game when we can run the ball. It will be like night and day. The same goes for a pass rush on defense, makes your coners look twice as good as they actually are.

At least I can say I have zero expectations, so it's hard to be let down like lasts years hindenburg season ending.

58 times tells the story. NO run game and asking BEN to carry the team. It's past Bens ability to carry this team currently, Coach Tomlin should know that without being told. BEN can lead this team but for criminy sakes he needs help which happens to be in short supply.

I always have expectations even as low a quality play this team exhibits currently. Can they and I mean everybody on the PITTSBURGH STEELERS elevate their play / role / coaching / management / ownership etc.................. ?
