Matt Canada is garbage.

Ok all of you who believe best chance of winning lies with Roethlisberger even though he is slightly below 80 passer rating he has 3 TDs to three ints. Have they scored 4 offensive TD's. What I'm asking you all is how many weeks are you prepared to stick with this story. If you are gonna wait till 10 or 12 you will not be giving a fair look to what is in the roster. It will be mailed in at this rate by then.

If you are going to list the reasons why the steeler offense is struggling Ben will be like 8th on the list. It's just convenient to blame the QB because then it seems an easy fix. Just switch Qbs and no more problems.

You are quoting an article from November 2020 when they had won what 9 or 10 straight games a couple weeks before teams really adjusted and they started looking exactly like they do now. Ben is done. He is the best thing to happen to this franchise after the 70s. No question. But he is done. And maybe it's because of the team. But mutual choices were made.

We already know what's on the roster. No help is coming. We can make a trade, scan the waiver wire, or raid other teams' practice squads for linemen or QBs but we're pretty much ******. We just have no talent there. Ben has been taking a beating since about 2006 and it shows. The organization just doesn't give a **** about having an offensive line or coaching staff. You know, like back in Cowher's day, when they didn't give a **** about having a QB.
 
It was previously said, but any of you who believe this is Canada's offense are smoking the stickiest of the ickiest.
I think it's apparent that this is ONLY what Ben is comfortable with.......which is everything pre-Canada and zero Canada.
In Canada's offense, the QB should be under center the MAJORITY of the game.....not one or two plays a game for receiver sweeps.
Ben is not comfortable under center. Never has been, never will be.
He is "Brooks Hatlin" for anyone who gets the Shawshank reference.
Nobody can teach this old dog new tricks because he doesn't want to learn them.

Hopefully, Canada is laying his foundation for everyone else on O that'll be here after Ben retires at season's end.
We will NOT see the Full Canada until Ben retires.

This is NOT shots at Ben.
The only shade I'm throwing at the D is injuries. Not making excuses, but we saw what a 100% D can do. See Buffalo week 1.
Our offense is in shambles. NOBODY is excused. EVERYONE is responsible.
But I think some/most of the disconnect is Ben's inability to FULLY commit to Canada's philosophy and reverting to what's comfortable.

We have **** on the roster. Stick them in when the season is lost. The future qb isn't on this team yet .

Again I'm going to keep repeating this in every thread. The Steelers have no running game because of a garbage OL, they can't pass block for **** either. No qb is doing well being one dimensional since last season. Every week you will see the defenses stack the line. Works like a charm.

I'd let BB ride out. At this rate of getting smashed he won't last 9 games before significant injury.

How could it be worse. And if it is who cares. Rudolph has a 77 passer rating and throws one more interception? Really? Then you can say there is no starters on the roster. Next year if there is no draft options you can stop gap a FA. Or are you gonna add to the 10 million they remortgaged on Ben for next year ?

It's going to be ****** for awhile. The end of the Ben era is near. Everyone is going to get their backup qb wish soon enough. Then the real suffering begins.


This team isn't sniffing another championship with this staff.

And his fast release are on the designed short throws. Lately when he has to go through his progressions, he's definitely a step behind.

And I'm starting to agree that this isn't so much Canada's offense, but Ben's offense. Looks pretty much like last year minus more motions etc.

The answer on whether the team would be better with Rudolph depends on who is making the play calls. If it's Bens choice to throw 3 yrd passes then maybe Rudolph would help. If it's the coaches then Ben is the best choice. Listening to Tomlins presser about the 4th down pass to Harris makes it seem like it's more on the coaches. No matter who the QB is the offense has to open up or we will honestly be lucky to win another game

It’s gonna be a long season. Idk if it’s the coaches or Ben. It’s pretty evident though that the Oline has issues, Ben is looking every bit of the 18 years of rough nfl play and this new offense is doing the offensive weapons a disservice.
 
I’m not going to blame Ben… look… we know the other team knows bens strengths and weaknesses&s… so it should easy to plan for that… we don’t.. we play to our weaknesses… horrible… spread the receivers out, motion Harris in and out of backfield but lineup and hit the other team in the teeth… no… we can’t even get a third and one… it’s bs.. somehow we (the front office) thinks a bunch of persnap motion is going to win the day… but I got news! Its what happens after the snap that counts!!!! Get Harris in open field, jet sweeps screens give him 15 targets and back teams up out of the box… you can either go deep or over load one side of the field but get Harris ball in open field… What we are doing now suks… it’s like we got in the hot tube time machine and weve have gone back to the days of kent graham! Wtf!

Sadly, I am not a brilliant offensive analyst. However, it seems to me that Roethlisberger & the offense in general were playing very well through about 2/3 of last season before defenses adjusted and started clamping down on what they were doing.
What it "feels like" to me is that despite the fact the defenses around the league have "got the book" on how to stop this Steelers offensive attack, there seems to be no effort whatsoever to adapt the offense.

I don't believe that's because of Roethlisberger, because he utterly changed his play-style after the elbow injury and that started out with the fast releases and the short over the middle stuff. That has NEVER been his style. To suggest that he refuses to go away from it seems a bit weak to me since it's completely foreign to how he's played for about 15 of the 17 years of his career.
 
At first I think it was stupidity and obstinance in coaching. It felt as though the coaches were saying, "We can ******* do this and we DARE you to stop us." And, stopped they were. 6 out of the last 7 games.

Now, I think it's about the hot-garbage that is the offensive line. As you may remember, they were damn near unbeatable last year until Pouncey and DeCastro started breaking down from injuries. Then all of a sudden they couldn't run to save their souls and pass protection began to erode and "Bob's your uncle" the Steelers couldn't win a ******* game to save their souls.

I do think Ben is beginning to show his age, but behind that line... Ben at 23 would probably be running for his life more than making any plays.

Agreed. You have to wonder if Canada's schemes are even being implemented. As someone stated, this offense looks a lot like Fichtner's.

Why is Mr Rooney so madly in love with Tomlin, he has seen the style play of this team and how it has gone backwards . No leadership, no one can light the fire. Today after the half this defense three plays in a row gave up 12 yards each play, as Cincy went down the field and only by a penalty they kicked a field goal. Reality we should have lost to Buffalo if it was not the over throw to wide open receivers that would have been TD and a fluke block punt by missed Assignment blocking. Easy to blame Ben he is the only one man enough to stand up and point the finger at him. With all the self destructing penalties not once do you catch Tomlin lighting a fire on anyone on the sidelines. New offense not one thing looks different and Tomlin continued miss fire on fourth downs and his total melt down last game runs a play game already over, and a good receiver is down and out. So why is he and his coaching staff not the ones talked about here or on any upcoming sports media BSt talk show?

I don’t know about the local Pittsburgh media,but the coaching has definitely been on the hot seat for many years here on Steeler Nation. As well as Ben’s below average play.

I have said many times I would have let CMT go in 2012 right after The Tebow disaster. I had seen all I needed to see then,and really nothing has changed since.
 
If you throw 58 times, you damn better be scoring 40
 
To me its as simple as the first huddle of the game...Why is Ben checking the plays on his arm in the first huddle right after kick off ? You know after the toss you are getting the ball..you cant have the play called on the sideline come in and run the first play without going to the playlist on your arm? An offense in total confusion .
