Villanueva, Feiler, and Banner are all free agents after the season. Pouncey, DeCastro, and Okorafor are free agents after next season. Harris is a potentially great running back, but I'll be fuming if the Steelers pass on an offensive tackle with Cosmi, Leatherwood, and Eichenberg all sitting there. It's easy to get fascinated with the skill positions, but teams are still built in the trenches. I'm not a huge fan of PFF, but according to their rankings, the Steelers have the worst offensive line in the playoffs this year and that group is trending down. A great running back is still going to have some trouble running behind one of the worst run blocking OLs in the league.

I've ran thru this scenario in my mind - several times; while I'm one of the bigger Bama homers here---we need to rebuild this OL...stat!!! I think we're ok at C but we need TWO G's and TWO T's...

Damn, I really want to see Najee here but the team comes before my pipe dreams.

No way we get Harris. Don't see Parsons going that high either ... he opted out this year ... lots of tape on other LBs that did play.

If the team sees the clear BPA a RB pull the trigger in 1. In this draft if things are = I think you have to go LT. But knowing T's often run early it would be no shocker to see the value for a tackle off the board in 1. If the Steelers plan to dip in free agency outside of their own a T probably would then get high priority.

I think Lawrence, Wilson and Fields are all top 5 picks, possibly 1-2-3 with teams competing to trade up to get one of them. If I’m Jacksonville, I’m tempted to try to move down to 3, stockpile high picks and take whichever QB remains available.

I also think Harris goes somewhere around pick 10 and before Etienne.

That is the exciting dark horse in this draft. What player that has no business being there at 32 is available to the Steelers because of opting out. Steelers know talent. If any team could find that gem it is ours.

We have Dotson and DeCastro. I agree we need to get at least one G to groom as DD's replacement. But, for the same reasons we need to get a G, we also need to get a C. Pouncey is just waiting for Ben to say the word, and he's out. Could be done before Ben. Totally agree on the Tackles.

I'd have no problem with Harris in Rd. 1. I'd probably then double-dip on the OL with 2 of the next 3 picks (definitely in Rd. 2).

Jacksonville doesn't need anymore high picks. They already have six picks in the top 100 (1.1, 1.21, 2.33, 2.45, 3.65, and 4.97), they need a franchise-changing player.

I thought Dotson was a RG, either way though I agree with you. Only I think the order of importance should be T, G, C. I think we resign Banner as our RT and AV moves on. I trust our FO when it comes to drafting so whatever they do I'm usually good with it. As long as they don't go K or P in any early to mid rounds I'm good.

They don’t need to keep them all they could end up with six picks in the top fifty or they could get future year 1st and 2nd round picks.

lots of tape of LBs not as good as Parsons.

I think Penn State has a shot of having 3 1st rounders. Parsons for sure. TE Pat Freiermuth should go in the 1st. He will be one of the few TE prospects who can both catch and block. Pitts is a WR.

The darkhorse is DE/OLB Jason Oweh. He had 0 sacks this year. Crazy that he could possibly go in the 1st but he might. Why? Because he's 6'5 about 265 and reportedly will run in the 4.4 range. He's very athletic and 3-4 teams will be all over him. He did not record a sack but he scored very high in other pass rush metrics. Basically, he got a ton of pressures and influenced plays but did not get the sack numbers. Teams look at win % on rushes and pressures more than sacks.

If Oweh does run sub 4.5 at 260 lbs then he's going in rd 1.

The problem with the run game is not the RB. It's the awful run blocking and terrible scheme. If Derrick Henry was on the steelers, he would have averaged about 3.5 on about 12 carries per game. He may have had 12 TDs though.

If there's a QB they really like available then you take him. Ben's time is short so any opportunity to land the next guy, you do it. If they don't go QB, then i feel the biggest need is help with run blocking. That means OL or a TE that can block.

It's hard to figure what will be available at pick 32 though.

First of all that frigging Mcshay has the Steelers picking @ 28 instead of 32. You guys are slipping. Can’t believe no one else noticed.

Fully agree if there is a top flight OLine guy we better nab him first. Question.
The TE from Florida,Pitts. Is he worthy of a top 10 pick? It’s rare for a TE. Is he that good, could he drop way,way down?
Wish I knew more about the college game and it’s players, but hey.... I don’t. So I rely on you guys.

I have dreamed about a top 1-3 TE since HEATH! Retired. Can you imagine having a George Kittle? Not that our esteemed OC would know how to use him.

Ahem I corrected him in post 10. Slipping never that! I am always careful as I know in life there is many of slip between a cup and a lip.

100% agree with this, our OL completely blows, fix that first before drafting a RB

pat Kirwan talked about this type thing in previous drafts. it sounds logical to get more draft assets, but the issue is you let someone else limit your piks. if you hold the one pick and you see one of the qbs as your guy then you take him and don't settle for someone else.

I thought Sermon looked solid in OSU win over Clemson. Could he last to round 2 or 3, if they pick a OL in the first? Our O-Line should be a priority to re-tool.

I haven't seen Sermon picked higher than the 4th round in mock drafts and he's generally in the 6-10 range of running back draft rankings.

Yeah, I don't see him being anything special in the NFL.

I agree. A good o line makes lesser RBs look good. I’m not sure it works the other way around. With that said, we’ve found good linemen later in the draft. Beecham was a sixth, Al a FA, DD and Pouncy are the only firsts I can recall over the past several years. Just two three years ago, we had arguably the best O-line or one of them.
