Minkah Fitzpatrick - Worth a high pick?

This season is over.. save the picks. If anything, trade some of the current players for picks like the dolphins.

Trade a 2nd for Minkah

Tank for Tua!

lol

It's a no brainer to bring him in even for the Steeler's first round pick. Would you rather gamble on drafting a DB, or sign a DB that has proven he's a sure thing. Oddly enough, Tomlin is awful at drafting DBs...amoung other things, but I digress.

No. We are going to have a top 10 pick

I can see that, but I also see that we've not been very good at drafting in the 1st round in recent years.
it's not like Minkah is some older guy. Still on his rookie contract and just 2 years into it.

Meh. If we're going to suck this season minus Ben, lets take whatever we can get in the draft since its going to be a sub .500 year. Yeah we have not always got the right guy in the draft, its a dice roll. Trading away draft capital for a corner right now makes no sense. We need big bodies on the DL and/or a replacement for Dupree. We will be guaranteed to get that if we're drafting in the top 10 next spring.

I say yes. Get him now. The secondary is one piece away from being the best we’ve seen in awhile. Kelly is ok. He has skill, size and speed that needs developed. I believe he will be a fine number 2 but not now.
Fitzpatrick an be your future with Edmunds.

he's a Safety.
Davis is hurt and an UFA after this season.

just makes too much sense to go after this guy

The DB class next year isn't all that impressive with Bryce Hall (Virginia) and Kristian Fulton (LSU) being in the top 15, and I believe the Steelers are drafting Jerry Juedy or CeeDee Lamb if they have a top 15 pick as JuJu isnt' a #1 WR. That Secondary needs help right now and Minkah is a huge addition. If you're looking for a big ugly, there will be guys like Nick Coe (Auburn) and Julian Okwara (ND) to be had in the early second rounds.

We can get a #1 WR early in round 2. You go big ugly early in round 1. Again this is all speculative if we **** the bed this year but that's the way we are trending.

If the Steelers draft a goddamn WR with their 1st pick, I will kill someone. Let's look at their #1 wide receivers over the past 25 or so years, shall we?

1994-1997: Yancey Thigpen, 4th round pick by Chargers
1998: Troy Edwards, 1st round pick
1999-2009: Hines Ward, 3rd round pick
2000-2004: Plaxico Burress, 1st round pick
2010-2011: Mike Wallace, 3rd round pick
2011-2018: Antonio Brown, 6th round pick

Notice anything??

Unless the Dulphins are asking too much I don't understand the problem. He's worth a #1 pick and the Steelers still have an easy schedule. They aren't drafting in the top 10 even with Mason. They still will win a few games.

After revising my prediction to 3-13 I have to say we need to save draft picks and have our own fire sale and unload all our overpaid defensive veterans too and stock up picks for offense for our new young QB.

Not sure what NFL team would have much of an interest in any player aside from Heyward, maybe Tuitt. Dealing Tuitt would mean a $5.2 million cap hit. Hargarve, rookie contract, nothing more owed. No savings there. FA at the end of this year anyway. Williams will get nothing in return. Haden just signed a couple of weeks ago. Trading him would result in a cap hit of $5.6 million. Edmunds is on a rookie contract. Davis the same, and he is a FA after this season. Bush, rookie contract, ton invested to get him, he's not going anywhere. Nelson just signed, and dealing him would mean a $5 million cap hit.

Watt is the best player on defense, and still affordable on a rookie contract that costs a mere $2.9 million next year. Durpee is finally gone, thank God, so no dealing him. Simply put, the Steelers are not going to gain any cap room by dealing veterans off the defense.

Where have we got with this defense in the last 5 years with them on it?

We gotta get some new blood, draft picks are always cheaper and u might get a diamond in the pile

They just get blown over on run plays up the gut anyway, they soft

Fitzpatrick is saying he only wants to play in the slot. That gives me pause because i'm not paying all that for a guy who is already giving you conditions before he's even on the team. And he hasn't exactly been great yet. He's still in the category of a guy who looks like he will be good but isn't just yet.

With the steelers dismal record of developing DBs, I'd be nervous about paying big for a guy who still needs to develop.

Doesn’t matter. Steelers not interested. I thought it was a great opportunity to bring on a young immediate starter in a position of dire need, but apparently it’s not what the Steelers want right now

Jason la Canfora is saying the Steelers are 1 of 6 teams inquiring about him.

if they don't plan to re-sign Davis then offer a 2nd rounder + Fu and see if they bite
