Mitch Trubisky wishes he didn’t sign with us

Splain somethin' to me Lucy, he signed a two year contract, or does that not mean anything these days?

It does and that the STEELERS have the rights to him. More l;Kiley than not, the STEELERS will release of that commitment.

He and Clowney can sign with some second rate loser team… we should have saved cap space and just let Rudolph start… he couldn’t have been less effective

Had that happened it would have saved a lot of band width here from having the “Dri Archer” like thread…….

Signing MT was not the best move. Still, this is a development many didn't foresee, at least that's my bet.

Are the Steelers a first rate winning team these days?

Seems like Mitch will be joining the growing list of players who wanted to bounce from this "stable" organization: Ingram, AB, Leveon, etc.

He has a year left, so tough luck. Someone, like his wife, needs to explain to him that being the backup for starter money and not getting beat up every week isn't a bad gig.
I second this. I’d love to be a career back up with a starter salary. Get to enjoy retirement with my brain cells and ligaments intact

The other name being mentioned at the time was Derek Carr. I still think we got the better of the two.

I feel like the best name to throw around at the time was Mason Rudolph.

I remember reading here last year how some were excited that we were able to get Mitch for a steal and how it was foolish that we drafted Pickett. Remember, all Mitch needed was the steady hand of a stable organization and he didn't have that in Chicago.

Looking at the batch of free agents next year I bet we can get Tyrod Taylor, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco, and Case Keenum probably all can give a spot start for 3 million a year.

I like Mitch and to some level I get some frustration here. I'm hoping he can step back a bit and realize though he believes he is a starter he has just not put that on film. Now he came here to be the starter and then they drafted KP. Probably realized he was not going to be the long term solution at that point. But believed he would have a longer rope and be able to put film out. Here is what Mitch needs to realize. There are places he could go to be a similar stop gap, but all of them are taking a QB in the draft. So I guess he can put up a **** fit and get off the team. That will not play well. So collect a handsome salary to practice, be grateful and a good teammate and ready to play if called upon. That would be the wisest decision.

I will say this. Though I am pleased that Kenny has shown progress and lets not forget he is still sporting a 76 passer rating. I think it bodes well for him moving forward. I truly believe Mitch could have at least done what Kenny has in terms of winning. The improvement has been the defense and the run game.

Steelers are 29th in avg ppg with 17.5. That's not real good but it's about as good as it will ever be with Canaduh as OC.
Pickett is doing about what I expected for a rookie.

Yeah no need to bring in scrub QBs , I am ok with keeping Mitch.

I think mitch is going to cost 8M. Bean counter Kahn might want that number lower. Someone above mentioned several washed up qb's in the 3M range. I think they move in that direction.

Hindsight...20/20 and all that stuff. They didn't know Kenny would still be available.

Sometimes that works out better than expected and sometimes it doesn't. Roll of the dice when you bring in anyone's failed experiment. Some still are Pickett doubters and there is an element of that I can understand with his red zone production needing to improve. Overall I like him and think he will show that jump sooner than later. Right around the time they can Can-aduh.

You read it here but have a new user name? Or just never signed up?

Mitch played behind an O-line in disarray at the start of the season. When he came in cold after the Pickett injury he had one good and one bad game....we still don't know what he is, and probably won't know what he could be as a Steeler on a functional Steeler team in all phases. The Pickett era has begun, so he gets to be someone elses project. Mind you I didn't want him here to begin with.

Maybe not quite yet as far as moving on. We'll see. I would prefer he stay and solidify depth at the position.

Yeah I'm on the fence. It could go either way with him, but I really think the dude has to have an almost perfect situation to turn in journeyman type performances. I guess as a backup we could do worse.

Look no further than the list our own snowflake provided. Yes it could get worse.

We are one of the cheapest teams in the league. No way we pay $8m for Mitch to be our back-up.
