Mitch Trubisky wishes he didn’t sign with us

We are one of the cheapest teams in the league. No way we pay $8m for Mitch to be our back-up.

They don't have a crazy amount of available money floating around. I think the Steelers being a cheap team is an old inaccurate belief.

Carr is a cry baby. Gerber should sponsor his ***. Huggies maybe
Carr had some good moments. I think on the right team he could impress.

Maybe. But if he isn’t signed after a month he might be ok being a backup for a couple million

I read the article. I think OP is making it out to be more than it really is. No shocker there.
Mitch is under contract. Unless he requests out he should be back... I don't think that will come to pass.
Or he is putting the writing on the wall..Tomlin wants volunteers....not hostages.

Of course. If he makes waves you trade him. If not keep him.

Mitch is probably going to get traded for a glass of water at this point… we won’t get much from it and will have to spend any savings on a vet backup… package him and gunner for a conditional seventh… maybe we can upgrade at punter

Minor comments. Nothing crazy. Just a wait and see.

I don’t think we could get anything for Mitch at this point with his salary. If we are lucky a 7th. Unlike Rudolph, Mitch is expressing his frustration with the team and forcing the teams hand. My guess is he’s released before free agency so we can hammer out a deal for Sutton.

Conditional seventh.. if he starts more than half the other teams games they give us a seventh, if not, we give them seven cases of beer

I can't blame Mitch for being a bit salty with the abrupt benching in the middle of the Jets game. Tomlin had assured everyone through the media that he was sticking with Trubisky as his starter, and he had given Pickett no recent reps with the starting offense at that point, even after having extra days to prepare following a Thursday night game. So all signs indicated that Tomlin had confidence in #10. Then the rug was pulled right out from under the guy.

If I were Mitch, I probably would have waited until the offseason to start venting about it, though. Timing was a little strange.

I hope he stays. People forget that he came off the bench and basically won the Tampa Bay game himself after KP looked pedestrian for 2+ quarters. He's a quality insurance policy if something goes wrong with Kenny and the possibility of ongoing concussions.

Looking at the batch of free agents next year I bet we can get Tyrod Taylor, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco, and Case Keenum probably all can give a spot start for 3 million a year.
I wouldn’t pay 3M a year for that whole steaming pile of garbage retread QBs

Dalton induces the least vomit in mouth of the above list from the scrap heap

Dobbs isn’t coming back. He’s another QB that believes he didn’t get a fair shot in Pittsburgh.
I’ve never heard any report of him being disgruntled…ever

I’d say after he sat out in free agency for awhile, has been cut, on a ps etc since his departure a smart man like him has a good perspectives on what his role was and should have been

He got 1M last year

Nothing says I love you like a big pay raise…2 years 3M total with a few 100k signing bonus and he’s RUNNING back here

I think you underestimate the value of a veteran backup QB these days. Tyrod got 2-years 11 million with 8 guaranteed with the assumption he might start if Jones didn't beat him out. I am sure some incentives in there as well. Dalton signed a 1 year 3 million dollar totally guaranteed contract. And I don't think the plan was for him to start unless injury happened as they had Winston and Hill in front of him. Flacco got 3.5 million with the #2 overall pick in front of him. He wasn't supposed to start unless injury. And Keenum reworked his contract down from 6 million to 3.5 million to backup Allen. The other option is to go into 2023 with KP in his second year and a rookie in his first. I mean I wouldn't be too upset if it meant keeping Sutton, Spillane, Edmunds, Kazee, and Ogunjobi. But with KP's concussion history that means you likely risk starting a late round rookie one or two games.

Goodbye Mitch, we hardly knew ya! We can sign a veteran backup cheaper and use the savings on retaining Sutton.

I mean he had the job and it was his to lose and he lost it.. that goes for any team he couldve signed with. He really had a better opportunity to start and succeed here than anywhere else. If he played for the Jets, Titans, Dolphins, or any other team he would've been benched and done after 1 season as well.

when they drafted picket , it was never his job. He was a placeholder..

I understand Mitch, after that Ravens pickfest, I wish you hadn't signed with us too.

Joe

KP
Dobbs or other cheap vet
4th-7th rounder (unless someone crazy falls into 2nd-3rd range)

Call it a day with a UDFA for the practice squad

Sure don’t see value in paying any of those old retreads that type of coin

How are we one of the cheapest teams AND usually have extremely little cap space every single year?
