Mitchell Hit With Huge Fine

If I remember correctly it is the hit Mitchell flew into West with his head down and made helmet to helmet contact while making the tackle. Romo mentioned a couple of times that will draw a fine for Mitchell.

I think the RB was stood up and hadn't gone down... Mitchell came in late ala Kemoatu,, and led with his head on the RB head.. Still too much $$ and DBS is ******* right.

I don't even remember the hit on the RB. Was he fined because it was an illegal hit or was he fined because the dude ended up with a concussion? The NFL certainly isn't above that. Just like on the field they won't throw a flag on a hit until the guy lays on the ground like he's dead....then comes the yellow. Then the guy gets up and walks off the field like he's perfectly fine.

It was fined because it was egregious head hunting to a player held up by 2 other defenders. I'm surprised Mitchell wasn't suspended for it. His next one will be a suspension.

I understand the frustration with the refs throwing flags when a player is down hurt. But a player can be just as hurt with a concussion, who can get up and walk off the field, as one who was knocked out on it.

The reason why the money is so high, is that Mitchell is a repeat offender with helmet to helmet hits.

Report: Mitchell fined $9K for Smith hit; $48K for separate play

(Icon Sports Wire)

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell was fined $9,115 for an illegal hit on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, as opposed to $48,620, which was erroneously reported Thursday.

However, Mitchell was indeed fined $48,620 for a helmet-to-helmet hit delivered on Chiefs running back Charcandrick West, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.

Although Mitchell wasn't flagged for the hit on West, the Chiefs running back suffered a concussion on the play.

Mitchell remains eligible to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

So there you go. He wasn’t fined $48k for his stumble into Alex Smith. It was this whole other play where he was playing “too violent” okay.?!

NFL= National ******* Laughingstock

SIMILAR to the play that BELL was held up and their guy launched head first into him but no concussion. There was a FLAG but it was picked up as no foul on the tackler. NFL I'd a joke when it comes to consistant officiating.

Another great game from No Play. Watched a TD happen in the EZ, but made sure to make the tackle after the catch...

Almost knocked Artie Burns out for the season.

I'd rather have Golden or Dangerfield now at this point. He's beyond a weak link and is now a liability.

I also understand why he hides his face behind a terrible towel.......Shame.

This **** pisses me off. If the play is over, blow the whistle, if it isn't that ****** is fair game. If he breaks free and pushes for a TD does that come off the board? No. Blow the whistle, play over, no whistle, no illegal or fineable hit. Period. This shouldn't be that ******* hard, it's football and they literally make up the rules.

You're right Joe, technically the hit wasn't late, the whistle hadn't blown, and the ball carrier could get free and run. If you want to help make sure to get that ball carrier on the ground, you can't lead with your helmet to end that player's day, and also end up knocking him out of the next game, and counting...
