Mock draft

Step 2: Current Steelers Capital

  • #20 = 850
  • #51 = 390
  • #79 = 190
  • #84 = 170
  • #99 = 125

Total of 1st + 2nd + 3rds = 850 + 390 + 190 + 170 + 125 = 1,725 points

Total

#51 (2nd)

#79 (3rd)

#84 (3rd)

170

Total

1,600 → matches #6 value

All of this you can use to give you a basic understanding of what it would take to move up to 6 . If anyone needs anything other move up projections let me know…

Steelers Record
Likely 2026 Draft Slot
9–8
~15–20 overall (mid‑to‑late teens)Â

10–7

~20–24+ overall (late teens/lower 20s) Â
9 and 8 finish is probably 16-20 range

And 10 and 7 probably mid to semi late 20s.

I am still thinking 9 and 8 is a more realistic finish…

Great stuff, thanks! What about a move up to 1? If you're going to shoot your shot, make it a 3-pt'er.

The Giants currently have the pick and they have their QB.
Giants and Raiders play each other before the end of the season so loser of that one most likely to have number 1 pick, and I'm picking Giants to win.

If they make the playoffs I would be willing to bet Rodgers comes back 1 more year.
Does that make them go BPA in 2026?
Not sure.
Most mocks has them going WR in the 1st.
I thing go trenches again. Hopefully a great DE is there

Sorry for the late.
  • #20 overall (2026)
  • 2026 1st-round pick (already included, that’s #20)
  • 2026 2nd-round pick
  • 2026 3rd-round pick
  • 2027 1st-round pick
  • 2028 1st-round pick
And this still might not be enough as they would be competing with other teams.

Possibly even
  • #20 overall (2026)
  • 2026 2nd
  • 2026 3rd
  • 2027 1st
  • 2028 1st
  • 2029 2nd
So basically just not a great idea … at least for this class…

Yeah they should think hard about that. Going DE, WR, G, and CB could really help the talent level on the team.

They've already spent a lot of draft capital on the trenches the last three drafts. Not as much on DL as OL, but they've still spent a 1,2, 5 and 6 in that time. If they don't start doing more drafting in the secondary, and to a lesser degree the offensive skill positions, they're going to be in desperation mode come 2027. The last five drafts Joey Porter Jr is the only defensive back the Steelers have drafted earlier than the 6th round (they did give up a 2023 fifth rounder in 2021 for Witherspoon). For a position group that represents about 20% of your starters that's a serious lack of draft investment.

The Steelers can't keep relying on other teams 30+ year old castoffs and cap casualties to fill most of the secondary without it eventually biting them in the bum even more than it has to date.

Too early but I'll play...

Used Supe's link.

1/20 - Makai Lemon, WR
2/51 - Trevor Goosby, OT
3/79 - Deontae Lawson, LB
3/84 - Ian Strong, WR
3/99 - Nicholas Singleton, RB
4/119 - Parker Brailsford, C/OG
4/133 - Diego Paiva, QB
5/160 - Ar'maj Reed-Adams, OG
6/213 - Trinidad Chambliss, QB
6/214 - Kalil Alexander, EDGE
7/219 - Shamar Easter, TE
7/235 - Demon Clowney, EDGE
I would probably stay away from QBs under 6'0 with projected draft 4th rd or later. That's one miss I can live with even if they become a superstar. I also have this feeling the Ravens will do what they can to snatch whatever first rd pick they think we would go with as i anticipate them being before the Steelers in the draft order and they could definitely use another WR.

Not a lot to do toady so...

Looks thorough, I presume that RB was taken because you think Gainwell isn’t returning…

1.21 KC Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M
Playmaker with the ball in his hands.

2.53 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo
Everything I've read, best match for the Steelers defense.

3.76 Drew Allar, QB, Penn State
The Steelers hired McCarthy to develop a QB. Let's get the one with the best physical tools in the draft.

3.85 Will Lee III, CB, Texas A&M
CB depth was good last year, keep adding to it.

3.99 Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana
WR depth was thin, real good player with Indiana will add to it.

4.121 Lee Hunter, IDL, Texas Tech
Size and depth for the DL.

4.133 Jaeden Roberts, G, Alabama
LG expects to be a hole, take a chance on a mid-round guard.

5.161 Chris McClellan, IDL, Missouri
Additional depth for the DL.

6.212 Kyle Louis, ILB, Pitt
Undersized, but talented LB.

6.213 Malachi Lawrence, EDGE, UCF
You can never have enough pass rushers.

7.223 Robert Henry Jr., RB, UTSA
If you can find any position late, it would be a RB.

7.236 Red Murdock, ILB, Buffalo
Another player to add to the ILB room.

Seeing how you picked a WR I had A I look at the top ten prospects drop rate. (for anyone who gets curious on the topic)

Top 10 WR Prospects: 2025 Drop Tracker

RankPlayer (School)2025 DropsDrop %Scouting Note
1Carnell Tate (Ohio St)11.9%The most reliable hands in the draft. Caught 12 of 14 contested targets.
2Jordyn Tyson (Arizona St)46.1%Elite route runner, but had a few "focus drops" on easy underneath crossing routes.
3Makai Lemon (USC)33.6%Extremely efficient. His low drop rate makes him a perfect "move the chains" target.
4Denzel Boston(Washington)34.6%Huge target at 6'4". Very rare for a big-bodied receiver to have hands this clean.
5Zachariah Branch(Georgia)611.2%High drop rate is the main concern. He’s electric, but he struggles with "hand-eye" timing.
6KC Concepcion (Texas A&M)57.5%High volume in the slot leads to more opportunities for drops, but 7.5% is acceptable.
7Ja'Kobi Lane (USC)23.9%Another big target (6'4") with very reliable hands. He catches everything in his radius.
8Chris Brazzell II(Tennessee)912.6%The Red Flag. Leads the top group in drops. He creates separation but lacks "finish."
9Chris Bell (Louisville)45.2%Solid hands, but his late-season ACL injury is a bigger worry than his drop rate.
10Germie Bernard(Alabama)24.1%Very reliable. He’s the "safety valve" type of receiver that keeps an offense on schedule.

This draft isn' particularly good. I'm 100% trading for future picks and absolutely trying to move up in the first round for Lemon or Tate.

Look at the underwhelming production of some of the upper echelon hopefuls. Yeah not great. I like Lemon he has a high mix of production plus great hands… he would be my pick…

I can never get enough mock drafts.

PFF Mock Draft Simulator

1.20 Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State
It's going to take a lot for me to move off either Tate or Lemon in the first round.

2.52 Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon
The Steelers have some pieces at safety with Elliott, Ramsey, and Dugger. I also don't know how many of these guys will be on the team next year, so the Steelers will try to get a young prospect to step in.

3.79 C.J. Fite, IDL, Arizona State
A strong run defender to add to a rebuilt defensive line.

3.84 Charles Jagusah, G, Notre Dame
At 6'7" he's tall for a guard, but he has the thing the Steelers love with players--position versatility. He's played both guard and tackle and has a high upside from everything I've read.

3.98 Drew Allar, QB, Penn State
QB wasn't a spot I was looking at in this mock, but thought why not for the first one of the year. When it comes to QB, there aren't many options early on--this class is underwhelming and as I expected, failed to live up to the hype. Moore and Mendoza will be top-5 picks (if Moore enters the draft). I have no interest in Simpson, Nussmeier, Beck, or Klubnik. A lot of the other QBs will return to school.

Drew Allar is the anti-clutch QB, I haven't seen the mental toughness from him in crunch time. However, Allar has the tools, something our last 1st-round QB didn't have. He demonstrated improvement throughout his career as well. If the Steelers go QB in this draft, I want arm talent and Allar at least has that.

What about Caleb Downs S Ohio St. 1st rd?
