For now we will go with the Steelers having a 6th and a 7th according to Tankathon.

So you can't pick any player listed before a Steelers listed numerical selection in any given round.

Steelers picks:

14 - T Paris Johnson Jr. Ohio State
33- WR Jalin Hyatt Tennessee
44 - DL Mazi Smith Michigan
75 - ILB Jack Campbell Iowa
112- CB Riley Moss Iowa
188 T Tyler Steen Alabama
229 OL Alex Forsyth Oregon

I don't usually do this because I don't know too much about these college players. I sure as heck am no draft guru. So I look at it by position where I think the Steelers need the most help. So...

14. Paris Johnson OL OSU
33. Siaki Ika DL Baylor
44. John Michael Schmitz OL Minnesota
75. DJ Turner CB Michigan
112. Parker Washington WR PSU
188. Tyler Steen OT Alabama
229. Isaiah Land Edge Florida A&M

To me they have to try to establish something...to do something well. I get this multi-dimensional stuff, but if you don't do anything well, you multi-dimensionally suck. The Steelers don't do anything well on offense anyway. So I try to fix the OL, you invested high in Harris, and start running the ball well. Try to build an offense off of that. And I am old school. Lets get a real NT in there and stop the damn run.

All for fun you don't have to be a guru to play. Plus it is interesting to see how fans approach the draft and then see how the Steelers attack it. I see a lot of fans attacking the trenches, my preference. Hopefully the FO takes a similar stance..

I think their rankings were decent but I don't like not having some way for research or insight on the players other than going to Google. I like to at least quickly see height and weight if nothing else. I went pretty much with the BPA in areas of need. I think it gave me an A for the first 2 picks and A+'s for the remaining. Overall, the draft isn't bad. I didn't realize I was picking the entire Ohio State team. LOL.

Just a point of order here… If Biden signs that military academy bill, it will remove Andre Carter 2’s eligibility… they may try to grandfather him in, but last I heard he was going to be screwed

That will remove one pass rusher from the mix if true. His military background always reminds of Rocky and to a lesser degree Kevin Greene having either being a brat or served. Not that they are similar players in any way, shape, or form.

Sorry, Slash, I used the "Mock Draft" function. Yeah, yeah, I violated the rules but the selections are based on what players are actually available at the various spots:

Focused on BPA and need. Hey, given the fact the Steelers need improvement all over the roster, those two were very similar! Elite CB to handle the quality WR's in the North. Massive NT to slam the door on the Rats and Clowns running games. Very physical LT with better feet and quickness than Moore Jr. Best C in the draft at 75? C'mon, man! Already addressed LT and C but no way I pass on Beebe at 112. He is the best LG prospect in the draft, IMO - good enough to play OT. Holy crap, put Duncan at LT, Beebe at LG, Schmitz at C, keep Okorafor at RT, Cole and Moore Jr. as backups and you have the best OL in years. Many, many years. Trice is a physically gifted edge rusher who produced this season. Finally, an underrated WR with good size, GREAT hands.
P.S. No trades since the offers were clownishly bad. I give up this year's 44 for a two 3rds next year??? Next year's picks are rated as one round lower than this year, so why the @#$% would I give up a 2nd for two 4ths?????

Really good players at the spots taken. A legit, big-time LT, an elite edge rusher who spells Watt and Highsmith (or takes over if either is nicked up since I heard a rumor the NFL is a brutal business and sometimes people get hurt), best C in the draft, a massive NT who will force double-teams and that means Heyward and Leal get singled, and a big ILBer who is a tackling machine.

Now about the S and WR positions ...

  • Cannot pass up an elite LT. Big, solid run-blocker, good pass blocker right now who is likely to develop into a regular Pro-Bowl LT. Massive NT to command double teams, best C in the draft. Cole is good - REALLY good. But he is gone in 2024. How about we draft and develop talent before the position becomes an emergency? Harrison is a BIG pass rusher. Not going to be targeted as a weak spot against the run. The TCU CB is not a big guy but he is lightning-quick and very good at zone coverage. Jones is interesting because he has good hands and plays like every play is the last play of the SB. Richardson BPA.

THIS

Would be a very successful draft Jin my opinion.

This draft could really cure a lot of what ails this team. Crazy value at pretty much every pick according to their rankings plus I like the picks. Johnson No. 1 is just a stud LT and Johnson No. 2 is a complete swiss arm knife type player who is a very good nickel corner who has the size to shut down TE's or anyone coming across the middle.

Nothing is prohibited outside of picking a player before the Steelers slotted pick.

I see a lot of this guy, not just here but else-where as well. ANYone got the scoop on him and would he fit well / upgrade here?

Jack Campbell
LB | Iowa

I think he is more of a run stuffer than a coverage guy but he would definitely be an upgrade over Spillane and what we've seen so far from Bush. His combine numbers will be interesting to see. If he has more speed than I think he does, his stock will go up. He's your typical tough-as-nails kind of LB you get coming from Iowa. That's all I know about him so far.

I think he has the frame to be deceptive in coverage. He is instinctive and will get off blocks better than any ILber the team has. Definitely want to glue into his athleticism and quickness at the combine. I think he will test at least better than Spillane.

Thanks, that helps me a lot. I’ll have to try and keep an eye on him.

I think we need to get back to our “STEELERS” tradition at ILBs.

Well for a bit more fun I went back to 2017. I am on the clock with pick 30. My choices.

1. Ranked 15. Mitchell Trubisky
2. 21. Patrick Mahomes
3. 29. Garrett Bolles
4. 32. T.J. Watt

I don't know the players well. I don't mind the positions, but I'm not taking a wr at 33. Rest seems good.

Thing is this team is short a WR after Claypool left and arguably short an explosive one. Part of helping Kenny grow besides upgrading the Oline would be surrounding him with weapons.

Watt or Patrick... Two damn good players. I might have to lean toward Patrick... But damn what a decision.

I agree that we need a speed WR. And while Calvin Austin is shorter and lighter,he had a huge vertical and ran I believe a 4.32. He flies on the field.

Unfortunately that injury never let us see what he has. Many so called media experts were quite excited about him.

While I would be certainly tempted if someone fell to us ,I really think they should leave the WR position alone in the Draft. If really needed a FA,or maybe a sleeper that didn’t go drafted.

We have so many needs. Not having a 5 or 6 really narrows our field.

Choice is easy, Mahomes But he wouldn’t do much with this OL. BEN had that “IT” factor to go with his strength and “eyes” down field characteristics.

It was for pure fun. I took Mahomes. Then Cooper Cupp replaced Ju Ju. Kareem Hunt replaced Conners.
George Kittle came next. I just had this feeling. Shaquill Griffin went next. We always need a CB.
Then a little known RB named Aaron Jones. I just had another feeling. Pure Instinct.

Isn’t Hindsight a wonderful thing🙂🙂
