Most puzzling part

...alone. I'd have two guys on him.
Exactly. Single coverage. Its a wander Joe Burrow didn't have 1000 yards passing. I think Aikman even **** himself when he realized they were doing that. I know I almost did.

Defensive gampanning tonight on Hard Knocks........

Teryl Austin.....
" OK 24 you are on #1. Where 1 goes, you go."

Tomlin interrupts....

"No, that's what they'll be expecting us to do....." :ROFLMAO:

All t rue words, unfortunately. Harris was just another bad 1st round pic and why he's been given so many carries to try to prove Rooney's hunch right, just don't want to admit failure and giving him endless reps to prove they're right. They aren't. How many RBs are truly better than Harris right now? 1,000 yard seasons just a product of endless carries
They aren't my words or opinion. Just facts.
1000 yds every season is a fact, facts need context. Career 3.9 YPC and #68 ranked RB in efficiency is context.

Tampa Bay is in the exact same situation at RB

Rachaad White was the starter for 2 years @ 3.8 YPC
People blamed the line
Bucky Irving a 4th rd guy comes in and averages 5.4 YPC as a rookie this year. Takes his Job

Maybe coaching O-line and qb matter, but actual talent at RB is the difference maker.

To be honest with you Warrior,I don’t think Jaylen should be the premier back either. I think he’s a great compliment to a feature back and when hot ,given more reps. I think they should also throw more to him. I also would not mind if they actually would put him in for 4 games next year as the featured back just to see. I still think he’s a great valuable 2nd back.

My problem is more with Naj. Obviously because he was a first round pick we expect more. At the very least,i thought Naj would be that good winter back. When the weather gets bad,he takes over. He doesn’t. He’s looked worse. Also obviously we can’t blame it all on Naj. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard more excuses made for a Steeler player than Naj. Below I went for mid November on. Winter ball. By the way. 39 of the 74 yards against the Chiefs on Xmas day were with under 2 minutes to go. Tomlin decided the game was over and handed off to him, while KC was in deep pass defense expecting a coach to try and actually score. They gladly gave up the wide open run for time off the clock. A point I’d thought to make.

There were 7 backs out of 50 RB’s that had less than 4.0 yards per carry. In other words Naj was 42nd in the league out of 50. This happens every season it seems.
You give those backs below Naj in yards the same amount of carries and they would smoke right by him.

Not directly to you Warrior, but if our QB was 42 out of 50….our safety, our CB….our FG kicker……etc we’d all be saying he should be upgraded.
Najee like all nfl backs will give you a few bursts,a couple good games. And then he gives 6 games of nothing. Najee Harris is definitely inconsistent and replaceable.
And believe me,I’d like nothing more than Najee to take over in the bowls of Baltimore and onwards to make me eat my words.

That was a great post and honestly I don't know where the problem is. I watched Harris at Alabama and was pretty happy we got him (still am) but I do agree with your post. I Know he doesn't have that great break away speed and he should stay north and south, that said some of the issues I see are

first we have a **** oline and our OC wants to pitch the ball 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 1 or most downs as far as that goes.

Next not one team out there respects our passing game it seems like every play there are 8 or 9 guys in the box.

Harris will never be a 2000 yard back, he will never be Harris or Bettis but i do think he is better than what his numbers are showing this season. I think better coaching and game planning could elevate his game, but we may never find that out.
