With the Steelers obviously lacking a legit #2. How is Mt. Washington not being targeted 100% more than he is. He's giant with the wing span of a pterodactyl. He can block well. He has never given anyone a reason to question his hands. He's practically uncoverable.
I don't get it.
I'd run 22 personell and flood it.

He has to be the slowest TE in the league. Maybe

He ran a 4.64 40. That was tge sixth fastest Te time in his draft class. It would have been the 6th fastest time for tes in the 2024 draft as well... 4.6 is pretty typical for a starting real TE... there are guys that are basically no blocking big WR types that run faster times, but 4.64 from a true blocker is fast enough

I remember a mountain of a man TE we had named Eric Green.
I remember a game in which he was huffing and puffing in open field after a catch with a long way to go to the end zone.
Don’t remember if he made it!?!?

Pads on he doesn't look like he runs that fast. Anyways....we don't use Muth....why would we use Washington?

Muth is already second in receiving. But ask yourself why wouldn't we? 21 or 22 personnel. We don't use him. Pats had gronk, they still used hernandez
Meh. Our Offense compared to the Pats****....night and day difference.

What did our forefathers Washington, Jefferson, and Jackson have in common?

All played for the taxation without representation……….. and never a losing season…………….

Muth has a tremendous catch ratio. It’s something like 51 / 59 and I’ve been screaming all year as to why not target him more. Muth could easily be the #2 on this team, but it seems like they don’t scheme him into the games play.

TEs are very good over the middle and quick hitting passes. Screens / the Flat area / short post - in are all routes Muth would excel on. Deep middles would create one on ones on one of our receivers.

Fear, live it————— breathe it.

I would definitely be using both Muth and Washington much more than we have. I’m actually surprised that Artie Smith doesn’t make better use of his two TEs, especially on short to intermediate yardage on third downs.
In the red zone I’d be all over Muth and Washington.
Not real impressed with Artie Smith to be honest with you. Had such a low bar to hurdle after the Canada debacle here. He’s not innovative but actually very predictable and don’t like him using his old Falcon leftovers, Pruitt and Patterson either.
Offense still remains to vanilla.

So he only gets 5-10 yds downfield on a 7 step drop, who cares? Make the throw and let him drag someone for another 5. Too many people want highlight plays. Myself, I will take plays that move the chains all day long.

He’s still running toward that end zone.

Almost the same O gameplan as the last 4-5 OC’s. Almost begs the question, why?

Everyone was so happy that the team got a new OC, when the Dear Leader who holds then back was still in power. I called it months ago, same O, but slightly better results.

Seven step drop? Wilson usually has a bunch of pressure by then. Will Washington get his head around in time? I saw a few passes this year of the exact thing you are saying ...Washington simply didn't get his head around and the ball went right by him out in the flat. If he would run that route in the middle of the field as every other offense in the league does it might just result in a INT. We know Tomlin doesn't care for them. So hence. Take the entire package to Washington out of the playbook. No passes to Washington but most importantly...no TO.

Tomlin = offensive genius

It comes down to the middle of the field argument and why Mike Tomlin avoids it like it's a football swallowing swamp. As much as they use Worshington blocking the second level, it would be so simple to play action, and he release behind the backers for an easy seam route. It's frustrating for sure.

Washington gets open no matter his speed in the 40. He, Muuth, and GP should be on the field every time we get inside the 20. That size can't be covered. Throw high balls and corner throws and let these guys go to work. I'm still amazed we are this far into the season and we rarely, if ever, have seen the Steelers do this.

Shades wouldn't want more throws toward the middle of the field ironically where opposing TEs gave abused his defense for years.

That's where turnovers happen lol.

Read the old thread about Tomlin fails to learn his own lessons below. You wrote the same stuff a year ago. And you were correct both times.

Very frustrating.
