Najee Harris, what do the Steelers do with him when he becomes a free agent?

2 more years, give the 5th year option year 4 and ride that out for the 3rd year. If he's been great- re-sign or nonexclusive Franchise Tag him so he can deal for a full contract vs 2 1sts.

Um, RB's tend to break down, and Harris has not flashed big time talent in the pro's. Franchise tag him you say? A RB? I did not know you were a science fiction writer.

I've argued this. If he has a good season next year sit down with him and see what a three year extension would look like. If his number is stupid explain the realities of the teams leverage. I think if I was him I would want to mitigate my risk of injury in year 4 and 5 for a fair deal that goes 3 more years after year 4.

you calling him mediocre doesn't make him mediocre. Is NH banging your wife? you seem to have it out for him.
What makes him better than a mediocre starter at this point? Volume producer with a career 3.9 YPC average and his advanced stats of expected yards are at the bottom of the list when comparing starters.

Well because cooch called him that I now expect his YPC to increase to a respectable figure. It is the cooch effect on NFL football. What he says we can usually expect the opposite.😁

3.9 was good enough to get Bettis into the hall of fame.

Harris has ran behind perhaps the worst oline we have ever had. (yes worse than 2008) He was injured 1/2 the year. What did he average after the bye? 4.1? 4.2? He did not look like a mediocre back the second half of the season when he was healthy, and the line started to jell.

Lets give him a few years before he is labeled a bust or mediocre.

He's not a bust, but two years in, he's been a mediocre starter. The Steelers need much more from him next season.

They need to block like they did in the second half of the season and get him the ball in space earlier in the pass progression. That's it. If that happened he would be among the top.

Exactly. He really doesn’t create on his own and really isn’t a big-play threat. Mid-tier starter.

Naj needs more dreads, necessitating a larger helmet size…then the “big head” accelerator will be in full effect and he’ll surely start averaging 5ypc and be HOF bound

Not defending Najee, but the the STEELERS need to invest much more into the OL so-as to deliver a chance for Najee to be much better, this coming season.

Also would be good to have a stout OL to protect KP from his 3rd and 4th concussions in only his 2nd season

But I’m sure we’ll grab Addison or some WR. Weapons, weapons, weapons!!!

High is the draft as in round one or two, I agree with you Slashvag unless a top draft prospect falls to us. I will come and go when I wish, not when you say.

Too late Cleveland already gave up a lot for Watson who did not look good last year. We should have traded Bell If / when we had the chance don't you think?
Oh for God’s sake, someone should’ve tattooed this on your freaking forehead all those years ago because you still are ignorant about how free agency works.

YOU CAN’T TRADE A PLAYER IF THEY ARE NOT UNDER CONTRACT. Bell had not signed his tender the year he sat out. The year before, he was THE focus of the offense with Haley as OC. Ben stirred the drink in the offense, but Bell, along with AB and Bryant were the ingredients.

Mid tier as in the 15 or 16 best in the NFL. A little bit of a reach there. His yard per catch, yard per runs, and lack of big plays over 15 yards are all among the worst in the league. You know things that help scoring drives. I have not checked, but I bet offense's who have lots of plays over 15 yard tend to score a lot. Pickens qualifies. He helps us do that. Johnson does not!

Whomever they pick at 17 this year. What will the Steelers do with him when he hits free agency?

I was further deep into this thought as I was wondering what we would do with just the thought of who we might pick 17th overall……> ?

Do we tag for 5th year thought process or do we just pay big…. I’ll have to think about it before I give my thoughts….

Basically, the personification of your input to this site. You don’t check anything and make Madden’esque type statements.

It all depends if that player plays like TJ Watt or Devin Bush. It could be anything between a giant contract or letting him walk.

Whatever the outcome you can be sure the Steelers will be at or close to the cap. It's a matter of evaluating and spending wisely.
