NASCAR 2018 Thread

Been to Daytona Speedway 15 times +/- over the years. Seats in the Weatherly tower half way up from turn 4 into the tri-oval. Same seats or thereabouts every year for the July race. A few years ago, race started late due to weather so concessions in our tower closed long before the race ended. Long story but the sausage dogs are awesome, especially after a case of beer. Anyways we head towards Petty tower and get stopped. Tickets please. What? You can't go past with the ticket you have. You gotta be shittin me. $150 ticket and I can't go to the concession which I can see is open to purchase 4 freakin sausage dogs for $80 bucks? Sorry sir, new rules this year.

The race rules just plain suck now by themselves, but nascar has long forgotten their humble beginnings. Even the haulers with t-shirts and gear are like dealing with the gestapo. It's nothing to drop a grand for the family now. And believe me, the cost of the experience isn't my major complaint, it's just not what it always has been. Sucks. Don't see going again.

Yeah, when I started going to Charlotte 10+ years ago, my buds have an RV and we camp in the infield. After the race they would open up the track and anybody could walk out there and through the pits and get a tire or other souvenier. The highlight was the cooler lid races where dozens of dudes who were drunk off their *** would rip the lids off their coolers, hike up to the top of the banking, and ride the lids to the bottom. Road rash was involved and considered a badge of honor. They don't let you do that any more.

The wife and I have been attending NHRA drags occasionally the last few years, usually Bristol. Costs a bunch less than NASCAR. Going to the Four-Wides at Charlotte at the end of April.

Corporate, homogenized, and soulless. That and there isn't any drivers I really wanna pull for, Keselowski maybe. But seeing Kurt Busch in the wall won't ever get old.

Been rooting for the #43 the last few years but this year The King switched to Chevy. I don't care about the black driver but I can't bring myself to root for a Chevy.
Going with Paul Menard and the Wood Brothers #21 this year. I'm still old-school.

Martinsville postponed until Monday at 2:00 due to 4" of global warming on the track.

Enough drivers blowing right front tires today.

My buds are not going to Charlotte in May so for ***** and giggles I checked round-trip airfare and five nights in a hotel in Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix. Got a decent discount on a package deal from Expedia, only $7166.00. Each.

Pretty good race at Texas. Hated to see Brad K get wrecked. It was fun watching Harvick pass the field and nearly catch Kyle.

Yeah good comeback if not for shorty pits and not staying out with 20 lap better tired than Busch 4 car would have won

Damn

I want to go to the 600 badly one year but my uncle's memorial day party is kind of a big deal and would hate to miss it.

Geez, watching Bristol, I know there's rain in the forecast but there's like 200 people in the whole place.

Good. Maybe a new ownership group can fix it and get the attendance back.

I think constantly changing the rules got rid of a lot of hard core fans. That and trying to clean up all the contact.

Water under the track at Kansas practice today. Watch this.
