He was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year last season, won Defensive Most Valuable Player honors in the New Mexico Bowl and played in the East-West Shrine all-star game.

To me, in my humble opinion, pick #37 in the second round of this mock is not considered a flier. I didn't chart it nor did I put it into a spreadsheet and use a slide rule with measurables to determine if indeed the 37th pick overall is considered a flier, though, Mr. Costner.

I feel the sane about Tuiit in the second. A steal.
 
15. CB - Fuller - I like him as the 2nd best CB behind Gilbert but he is more physical.
46. DL - Tuitt - Big boy with some rush potential to "spell" at DE on passing downs and sub-packages this year.
97. TE - CJ Fedorowicz - Better option than Spaeth in 2TE sets, IMO. Could develop into a Mark Breuner type of TE long term.
118. WR - Josh Huff - This guy just fights for plays and is always there when needed as a pass catcher or blocker. Faster Hines Ward type of player. Might be better than Brown in a few years.
157. LOT - James Hurst - In the words of the "outed" JohnnyLaw, "we need more white guys on the OL". If not for his broken leg, he would go higher and Munch gets a pick this year to welcome him in.
173. OLB - Shaq Barrett - Like I said, new coaches get a toy when they come on board. There you go, Joey.
192. DB - Antone Exum - Might have been gone if it weren't for injuries. Could be a great CB underneath or fall back to S in a pinch. Very physical defender when healthy.
215. CB - P. Gaines - gotta take the talent in a deep secondary class. Could turn out to be a steal. All other positions except WR are dried up by now.
230. WR - L Damian Washington - Length, speed and 'grit' player who will go across the middle and make acrobatic plays all over the field...if he can find it.

192 S VINNIE SUNSERI, ALABAMA; My hidden gem of the draft - well, at least one of them (see my next pick) - Sunseri is well coached and has played in the 3-4 pro scheme for 4 years. Has he potential to be the playmaker that Troy is/was - big shoes to fill but he'll learn from the best.
215 WR KEVIN NORWOOD, ALABAMA; Can you say "ROLL TIDE"??? Passing up on Kevin Norwood, here, would be absolutely ludicrous! Sticky hands and a great run blocker. Jericho Cotchery II welcome aboard.
230 DE CASSIUS MARSH, UCLA; played DE in college - but, so did Woodley. My experiment at replacing The Wood...

Hearing chatter that Mosley has some very concerning injury issues, bad wear and tear, and some teams are getting a little wary of players from Alabama that show signs of wear and tear.

IMO, Richardson is a little stiffer than Kou. My LT preferences have changed some. I like them in this order:
1a-Matthews
1b-Robinson
3-Morgan Moses
4-Kou
5-Lewan-just cannot get settled with his off the field stuff.
Joel Bitoni is next and I would not be surprised to see any of these guys get selected in the first, they may all go that high, some may slide into the second, but I think that is your top 6 LT potential guys.

And, I am really starting to dig on Morgan Moses as a guy that goes much higher than people think he will.

To clarify, I'd much rather have a bigger, more athletic guy manning the position in Ben's later years. I'm not saying Beachum is **** (as you are doing with Jarvis Jones, who happens to play on the other side of the goddamn ball at an entirely different position, btw, so this is not an apples to apples comparison). I'm just saying I'd much rather have a guy who could be very, very good over someone who is not going to get any better than he is right now. I'd also say that Kou is probably at Beachum's level presently, though could and should surpass him in the future. Which is what I would expect if I were to draft him. Though I'm not working up a spreadsheet to compare their arm lengths, height and weight, nor am I asking whose mother makes a better apple pie.

edited: I said "not a lot". that does not equate to "no confidence". no matter how you try to twist it.

If two people are the same age, but one has one more year of actual NFL experience, is the fact that they are the same age relevant. at all?

If my company hires another 50 year old who has less experience than I do, should we be considered equivalent?

It does when you're talking about the potential to grow and get stronger. For some reason, Beachum has reached his growth potential, while Jarvis is a muscle machine who will be a ripped 275 at 1% body fat next season.

As far as experience goes, let's consider that Jarvis is playing the exact same position he played in school, in the same scheme. Beachum has juggled three different positions on our line since being drafted from a small school. But Jarvis just needs a little seasoning, that's all.

Soon we'll find out, with authority, what NFL.com has to say about all of this.

I can appreciate what the coaches were trying to achieve with this, but would have much rather seen them focus on developing at tackle. At least not force him to take reps at center.

Unless you really, deep-down believe that the University of Georgia Bulldogs are running the exact same defense that we are running. ****, I have a car with four wheels, but that doesn't make it a Ferrari. Nor does it make it a VW Bug. Just saying the Georgia Bulldogs ran a 3-4 scheme doesn't make it the same as what the Steelers run. ****, the Texans play a 3-4 that is different than what LeBeau runs. Though, in your mind, LeBeau's defense is being ran in every single 3-4 defense ever run from Pee-Wee football all the way to the Redskins, Packers, 49ers, Steelers, Colts, Jets, Ravens...

Are you preparing yourself for the drive to Canton to see Beachum installed as the next great Steelers offensive lineman to be inducted? I mean, ****, you want to say that we should want a bigger, better athlete than Jarvis Jones at LB, but OH HELL NO we should not want a bigger, better OL than Beachum at LT.

I don't recall saying "same defense" but rather "same scheme" - that being a 3-4 base with standup outside backers. Clearly (to most), I was comparing Jarvis's learning curve with Beachum's learning curve. Moreover, I was wondering aloud why Beachum is a finished product, but TAS is a jackshit for suggesting the same about Jarvis.

I will never be able to follow your thought patterns. Nor will you. Next message board, maybe; I'm sure you'll keep turning up wherever I do.

I'd love for the Steelers to have an OT that was 19 feet tall, 10 feet wide with arms that were 45 feet long and could palm a school bus with each hand. I guess that somehow makes me hate Ike Taylor.
