Next year's coach?

I like Bobby / Cliff / or Clint as all have their strengths and I’m pretty sure they could develop a hellA lot better team than current HC.

ADD -IN that I would pursue Ben Rothlisberger as a passing consultant or assistant OC (NOT the main OC due to needing a little seasoning). I’d also pursue James Harrison as an assistant LB’s coach as well. My assistant coaching staff would grow, maybe double in size.

My HC candidate would need to be able to delegate responsibilities and over-see everyone. As an owner I’d give him limited but a say in most things. I’d rely more on the GM (possibly new guy) & Weild (possible promotion to GM) for coaching recommendations and all HIRES.

Losing Tomlin would not be the cry that many have said and I could care less who his future employer would be.

Salute the nation
Can you imagine James Harrison coaching on the sidelines? He’d have to be a player coach. There’s no doubt in my mind there’d be a couple forearm shivers thrown from the sidelines. He’d be the most fined coach in the history of the game. 😉

Bienemy would not shock me at all with Rooney running the show. What an underwhelming sh*t-hire that would be.

Annybody that has that guy at the top of their list has their own selfish wants ahead of the Steelers.

He would jump at the job !!! Knowing he would be in control and NO Tomlinization.

I sure hope so. Of course this is hypothetical and based on the idea that he would want to leave Buffalo.

The only thing the Steelers have to offer at this point that is attractive is the fact that any guy who signs here will have plenty of time to build what he wants to build without the pressure of possibly being terminated.

I'm thinking considering this younger generation that it would go like this:

I would take Dallas's OC. There must be a reason Bieniemy never got a shot. He is not even an OC right now. Whoever we hire should not be a dinosaur and be aggressive on both sides of the ball. We also need someone to ditch our terrible blocking scheme. Our players are finally starting to call out scheme so hopefully it doesn't fall on deaf ears

When Cowher held back from clocking that Jag on the blocked FG, Deebo would have done it 😁

Freeman and poach a assisant from SF or LA to be the OC,
Another way would be start fresh with Minter

Is Chris Foerster available?

I listed a bunch of candidates I’d consider in another thread, but I think Mike LaFleur would be my top choice. Give me someone off McVay’s coaching tree.

say his name

Ok lets see... from several angles:

I dont like bringing college coaches in to the pros... they have an insane catastrophic fail rate, but if you had to, Id look at Marcus Freeman from Notre Dame.
He has traits you'd think would translate far better than most.

As for Pro coaches

The retread:
Kliff Kingsbury, current Washington OC, Ex Arizona coach... offebsive whiz, good with QB development. Only 46

The pittsburgh connection retread
Mike McCarthy- he is 62. He wont be coaching for more than 8-10 years tops.... most likely like five.. the only way he gets hired is if you need a guy to find abd develop your next franchise QB and you dont trust a younger guy available

The ex Steeler:
How about Antwaan Randel El... assistant head coach in Chicago and Art Rooney2 favorite?

The hot offensive coordinator - Joe Brady from the Bills... he will almost certainly get a gig this year

The too young OC
29 year old Declan Doyle. People think he is going to be a star soon

The cowheresque defensive coordinator -
Anthony campanile DC Jags

The Defensive guy with too many icky Harbaugh connections
Jesse Minter DC chargers

The Pedigree guy
Klint Kubiak. His dad was an impactful coach in the NFL, who's blocking schemes changed the way run games worked...

The in house option:

The combo Special: Brian Flores... probably the strongest candidate... ex Steelers coach, only 44, has previous coaching experience, a defensive guy like the Rooneys like..,

Im sure there are more... Thats just from the stuff i looked at earlier this season, lol

I definitely am on board with this guy.

I also will throw in the hat Klint Kubiak.

I like those two the most. Kubiak is interesting, too.

Has he had a shot at HC anywhere??? It's not selfish - he a great offensively minded coach. And, has a SB ring.

But let's throw Cooter in at HC... yaaaay!!!

I agree. And, to be clear, I threw his name out there BECAUSE he never got a shot.

KC's offense was dynamic when he was there; but some here think I'm suggesting him because of the hue of his skin. They're wrong...

Marcus Freeman from my Irish would be my first choice. The Bills' OC is my second.
Agreed!
But he could be crazy to leave South Bend for Pittsburgh.
He would need to be offered a boat load of money to even think about it..

I like Hoge and even possibly Jon Gruden, but I really haven't thought about it too much.

If the Steelers and Tomlin come to an agreement to cut what is owed to Tomlin, then they might do something after this season. If not, he will be here until at least the end of his current contract.
