If Davis slides to us, he has to be the pick. I liked him before but was floored by his 40 time. He would solidify and be the anchor of that line for the next decade-plus.
It absolutely does. His initial burst was right there with Aaron Donald his 40 time was the best for a 340 pound+ DL ever. It shows he can get in the backfield and not just stop the run. His 40 times is as good, if not better than most QB's in the league he will be trying to run down.I don’t know that a DT having a really impressive 40 will drastically improve his stock. It’s like a DB putting up 20 reps. It’s impressive but not really key for the position. I’d be more interested in a DTs vertical and broad jumps and 10 yard split.
Look at what Cam Heyward did this year running down field to make stops. It absolutely does. His initial burst was right there with Aaron Donald his 40 time was the best for a 340 pound+ DL ever. Like I said, 10 yard split is more important as his job on pass plays will be to create inside pressure. The opportunity to run down a QB will be few and far in between. It absolutely does. People will call me crazy but I think Thibodeaux is overrated. With so many players impressing in the combine, I have to laugh at seeing so many people say they're now out of reach for the Steelers. There are more guys who blew up their times than draft slots ahead of the Steelers. With that in mind, who do you think will be definitely gone by 1.20?
Evan Neal, OT
Ikem Ekwonu, OT
Charles Cross, OT
Garrett Wilson, WR
Drake London, WR
Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE
Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE
David Ojabo, EDGE
George Karlaftis, EDGE
Devin Lloyd, ILB
Derek Stingley, CB
Ahmad Gardner, CB
Kyle Hamilton, S
These 13 players are highly ranked and I've seen going in the top 20 in just about every mock draft I've seen. There is a good chance two QBs could go in this mix as well.
Kudos to Cam for doing so, but it’s not good for DL to be chasing down RB.Look at what Cam Heyward did this year running down field to make stops.
you need to re evaluate and stop looking through youre Nittany blue lenses. I see how you scum..I only meant they were scum compared to Jahan Dotson....
His ten-yard split was 2 hundredths behind what Donald did.Like I said, 10 yard split is more important as his job on pass plays will be to create inside pressure. The opportunity to run down a QB will be few and far in between.
It was not only his 40 time, his whole combine was great. His jumpers tell that he cam be a disruptor and might have more than enough stamina to stay the 3 downs. Don't concentrate just in the 40 splitI don’t know that a DT having a really impressive 40 will drastically improve his stock. It’s like a DB putting up 20 reps. I think it depends on where they get drafted. Howell is very young. I think the youngest QB in the draft. I think if they draft a QB in the first with 3rd round talent we are screwed. Also, I feel trading back and picking up some mid round picks to fill out the roster would be advantageous.Howell and willis are the two qbs i am certain will bust on our team… id prefer corral if he drops due to injury into the second…or ridder… i could live with pickett if the pro and anti yinzers will promise not to be ******** on the radio about him.
I agree he would be a good get but we won’t take him because we undervalue the nt under tomlin…If Davis slides to us, he has to be the pick. I liked him before but was floored by his 40 time. He would solidify and be the anchor of that line for the next decade-plus.

I was disappointed with the Washington corners thought they would test out better. Two guys I hoped the Steelers could get in the 4th and then the 7th tested out really well:
Leo Chenal LB Wisconsin
6'3", 250 lbs.
4.53 40
40.5" vertical
10'4" broad jump
Akaylab Evans CB Missouri
6'2", 197 lbs.
4.46 40
36" vertical
10'9" broad jump
Elam remains my favorite choice for #20. 6'2", 191 lbs., 4.39 40, will do rest of the drills at the Florida pro day.
Another athletic freak from the combine is LBer Troy Anderson. Former RB to QB and then moved to LBer to increase his chances of being an NFL player and he made the right choice. 6'3", 242 lbs., ran the 40 in 4.42, 36" vertical, 10'8" broad jump. Explosive traits - check. Quickness - check. Straightline speed - check. Will lift at the Montana State pro day.
P.S. Steelers, stop trading your draft picks. Some darn good prospects 75-175 and beyond and the Steelers dealt picks 123, 162 and 197.

How is Leo in coverage?
It feels like you need at least one hard-nosed football player at inside linebacker. The Steelers were way too soft at the position last and need someone who is willing to blow guys up.One advantage to Chenal is that he played ILBer in Wisconsin's 3-4. He played mostly strong-side, but also spent a lot of time at RILB so no problems with his knowledge of the coverage duties. He played almost exclusively zone pass defense and is, as noted, good-not-great. His guy is not running free, but he was covering a pretty limited area and passed his guy off to the safety if the receiver ran a deeper route.
He is good at diagnosing running plays and hits the correct gap with speed. Saw him blitzing about a dozen times in game films. If the G gets his hands on him, he is stuffed and engages in titty-fighting. If he gets through a gap, he blows up RB's trying to block him.
