They got Toney released

In the aftermath, the Browns wasted no time addressing Toney’s costly mistake. On Tuesday, the team announced they had parted ways with the former first round pick, a decision that really didn't shock many. The move underscored the high stakes of the NFL, where even a single error can have significant consequences.

I mean he was signed to the roster just last week and went 2/2 on brain dead, game killing plays... you knew he was toast when he was melting down on the sidelines... they probably did think about making him walk home

Used as a scapegoat.. by the browns...
Toney heard the Steelers were thinking about adding a receiver to bolster depth and did all he could to get released while he was in town. He just stayed over from what I heard and requested a tryout on Monday since he was already making key plays for us

Exactly my thoughts

Still a chance he’s on the hot seat?
With the DeShaun Watson contract I suspect Stefanski has a job for the next two years. Due to using signing bonuses to restructure his first three years salary down to vet minimum, $172m of Watson's contract hasn't hit the Browns cap yet. What head coaching candidate (other than someone desperate for a job) would want to walk into that salary cap situation?

The Browns should offer someone 2 firsts and 2 2nds to take watsons contract off their hands.. they can go into a total rebuild abd trade everything to get assets back... it will be four or five years of utter sucktitude, but honestly... would anyone there notice?

They would still be right back to where they are now, by that time, with nothing to show for it. I prefer that the are forced to eat it and only have enough money to field 8 starters on D and 9 on O.

At the trade deadline there were rumors that they were offering a first and a day two pick for someone to take DW’s contract off there hands in a trade.

How sad is that?

The other teams that were in the DW sweepstakes back when he was in the market have to be thanking their lucky stars they didn’t “win” and get his services. What could go wrong signing a serial criminal to a fully guaranteed deal????

Lmao

We have seen some QB contracts that have turned our heads to extreme, but we were able to turn them back to usable angles.

NOT with the Deshaun Watson contract, that contract took our heads a few degrees upon no returning back to normal.

Fully guaranteed contract and owner induced, talk about strapping your team for a long time. His injury was the exact thing that was this contracts biggest fear, other than poor play so they got the double whammy negative award.

I don’t care much for the Browns and even this causes just a shade of sympathy as it’s not a result of on field play, but a result of management doing what they know nothing of. Owner injection = failure

A big switch from normally firing their head coach after the last loss of the season to the Steelers...

I think Stefanowski (sp) is a pretty decent coach, who is handcuffed with a ****** owner.
