He and his staff put together a great game plan, they flat out out-coached the Colts tonight. When the Colts made some plays later in the game and threatened to turn it around the Steelers kept their heads and managed to hold it together.

Nicely done Coach Tomlin. Nicely done. Credit where credit is due. Still going to call you on "obviously" though. Let's avoid that in the press conferences if we can.

I started a thread a couple days ago that this was Tomlin's last chance to prove us all wrong...that he can coach, he can make adjustments, he can have his team prepared. God knows over the last 3 years we havent seen it. Very impressive coached game today. In all facets. This win was huge for our team, our momentum, and our confidence. Baltimore win next week and we could be sitting in a pretty good spot. Tomlin....talk outta your *** all you want in the pressers, you deserve it today.

He did OUT COACH the colts!!!!! Great Job Coach Tomlin. On to next week.

Salute the nation

There you go! Much props to you both! Most people after talking soo much jazz never even show up or post again until another loss. But good to actually see the positive finally around here! We all want to see our team win, and good to see the team finally coming around and playing at the level they should be.

Good game from Coach Tomlin! Most of us just want the team to do well. If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem!

I'm not letting Tomlin off the hook yet, but today was great......except for that stupid *** Ben punt. WTF was that all about? Go for it or kick the damn FG.

Or if you're going to punt, then use your punter.

Suisham is not going to make a 52-yard field goal into the open end. Going for it makes little sense, since team is ahead and turnover on downs gives the Colts really good field position.

Just punt the damn thing.

However, that is a tiny critique of a brilliant coaching effort. Brilliant. Tomlin, Lebeau, Haley, Munchak - all of them.

Yes, including Lebeau. Steelers came out with press coverage and heavy pass pressure. That defense was a HUGE reason the team goes up 35-10. Luck was clearly flustered early on . After the Steelers got a pick-6 and then went up 35-10, it was all hurry up and hope for a prayer by the Colts.

If he had kicked a FG instead of going for it on that 4th and a foot I would have lost it. Finally he made a correct in-game decision. Still in the negative though.

If he can get this team to show up every week then it's all good.

Even though Luck was able to connect on a lot of them; if we can 'dial up' some of the same blitz pressures we did against Luck, Bert Flaccid will throw some picks, IMO.

Luck is going to be a really good QB for a long time. Nobody has really slowed him down this year and he threw some great balls while being harassed. He's NOT like Brady or Manning who become mortal under pressure. Until we get our CBs in order, we're gonna give up some yards.

Flacco doesn't do well under the same pressure we brought out today. IF we can keep them coming, the Defense will have a better week next Sunday night.

This ^^

Look, in the new NFL, having an offense that can score 30+ points per game is crucial.

It seems to me that the Steelers are one good CB and more consistent effort away from being a very good team. Look at the most important pieces to a really good team, and the Steelers do just fine, thank you:

  • Top-level QB - check
  • Top-level TE - check
  • Top-level WR - check
  • Legitimate secondary WR - Bryant says check
  • Good offensive line - getting there. Getting there.
  • Pass rush - in progress. Shazier makes a difference. Timmons can now rush the QB.
  • OLB who can rush the passer - still in process. Harrison said it would take a month. He was right.
  • At least an average secondary. One more CB and I think they can make this claim.

Or if you're going to punt, then use your punter.

Yep. Ben's pooch kicks aren't fooling defenses anymore, the Colts knew it was coming. Let's hope that's the last time we see it, let the punter handle the punting.

No more Jekyll and Hyde please, keep the good play and take us to the playoffs.

Did they play out of their minds or is this what some here thought we had prior to the season?

I'm not really convinced of anything at this point but I really enjoyed the win.

Agreed, credit to tomlin and the staff. The team played focused and hungry. I realize this type of output wont be the norm, but if we can do this to indy it tells me we have some horses in our stables, horses who can compete in the big races. Just gotta get the details right from Tueaday through Saturday, and I think we can play with anyone. Get 'er done, coaching staff! you going to have to earn your pay this week after a big win, dont let the back-patting get excessive in that locker room!

I'll give Tomlin the credit he deserves...he has really turned this season around with two big wins vs the Texans & Colts.

He has the team playing hard and inspired football!

We were at the game and it's like I told my wife at halftime, "They're going to need those points".
If the Steelers had scored 30, normally a very good day for them, it wouldn't have been enough.

It's true. They needed ALL those points.

And they need to NOT sit in their laurels. What Tomlin et al. need to do is realize that this is the kind of thing that needs to happen every single week. Whatever ***-kicking soul-wrenching preparation took place this week, that's what they need to do again for the Ravens. Screw the "We know the Ravens, they're divisional rivals." thinking.

Plan Coach, Plan! Watch some tape and come up with something. Don't be clever. Just outwork the Ravens.

This team does not deal with success well. Wasn't embarrassed by my Steeler gear today. Let's see what happens next week before we get all giddy.

Haley, Tomlin and LeBeau have to realize todays game is.different than days past....no longer will u see 10-7 scores...league scoring is up substantially.... and refs dictate a bit in these games ....30 pts has to be the standard in scoring, to win...WRs are allowed to.run free, catch balls without the threat of headhunters... else flags are thrown and drives sustained.....

Great win.

And it only took Tomlin three-and-a-half quarters to bench Cortez Allen!

I was still pissed at Ben hitting the Timeout with 40+ sec and the first down was a longshot. Should have forced the clock, and actually brought in a punter. Would have saved us 3 pts (and could have been 7 as close as they were).

Otherwise, great gameplan. Much like the Patriots game from a couple years back. The pass blocking was the best I've seen this year. KUDOS men. The pass rush was great as well. We keep that up next week and Flacco will be flustered.

Polamalu, way to play young today! Great game old chap!

On D, I don't expect to kill anyone. If we get a couple TOs, though, look out!

Next week will be rough....In Baltimore against a Po'ed Balt team after losing to cinci. I am kinda confused as to what happened today.. This resembles the offense that most of us were expecting. I am not sure where it came from, but hopefully it sticks around. The D was still a little shaky, but they got us 9 points. So i guess you could say they netted 25 points against us which isnt bad considering we were up against a good QB. Bryant and McCullers looked good. I saw McCullers pushing his man back several times and almost got a sack.

Next week's game is in Pittsburgh, not Baltimore.
