Let me put it this way....if they didn't have Landry on the team then the would have another QB on the team.....Whether that QB was any good or not doesn't really matter either...just that he is a QB.
Here is my point: You want players on the roster for 1 or 2 reasons: Either they make the team better or they are being developed into a player who will be good down the road. With Jones we have neither. And anytime one of the 53 players do not at least provide a player with hope of getting good, it is waste of a roster space. Year 1? Fine. But they should have brought in AT LEAST some undrafted free agents to compete with the #3 spot, in a real way; the guy who should the most promise at developing into a decent QB should have got to stay. I imagine there were undrafted free agents out there who would showcase a better potential than Jones. Did you see him this preseason? He was absolutely horrible, in year 2. As I said, the Browns undrafted rookie showed better play than Jones has up to this point. I can't think of anyone on the roster with less likely value than Jones at this point.
