Old playoff format was better

The only people who think a euro division is a good idea are unfortunately the same ones that can make it happen… teams will go on two week trips out there then get their bye week or something.. i forget… it was stupid when I first heard it and is still stupid now
If they're going to play in Europe regularly they need to get the Concorde out of mothballs or the museum or wherever it is.

Can you imagine some of these players…… 1st rounder getting EURO’d and refusing to play, suddenly taking up Baseball.

Nobody is going to want to live over there, not having the freedoms we have here. Language barriers / culture shock / money conversions / all pending on team locations………….

Can you imagine the Eli Manning / Phillips draft and them two entitled ***** crying & crying to momA they don’t want to go…..

Most things born of greed are a bad idea. now don't get me wrong. I live in an icy winter hell. so the prospect of the Steelers in the hunt or a spot adds a week or two of interest into January thus shortening the time until thaw and thoughts of the draft. However, none of the Steelers, Pats, Fish, Packers or Seahawks really deserve to be in the playoffs. These are all deeply flawed teams. The old system 16 games had symmetry, two teams do deserve a bye. And a 6th has won Super Bowls. 7ths are simply sub par teams that do not belong at the dance. Whoever plays a Buffalo or Bengals team next week is going to get boot stomped again.
Definitely greed.
You have 32 billionaire owners with a single entity aka Goodell to be their fall guy.

Whatever they pursue to prolong their business. So be it. I really only watch the Steelers. Very seldom a playoff game here and there

James Harrison didn't like it much.
Having been to Europe, as taller people, Ron Jr. and I both agree that everything is smaller. The cars are small, the hotel rooms are small, the beds are small, the refrigerators are small, the washers and dryers are small, everything is small. Not going to fit NFL players very well who are even bigger than I am. Ron Jr. is already the size of an NFL tight end.

I wouldn’t mind living over seas just for the experience. I’d be returning back to the good ole’ US of A at retirement though

I tried to get a work visa for Italy in 2017 and couldn't do it. Just wanted to live there for a year or two. It's tough to be a legal immigrant.

It’s tough to be a legal bornt and raised citizen too. Uncle sam charges an arm and a leg for taxes these days

Not as much as Italy though.
I PM'd one of my distant cousins and he said, loosely translated, "Taxes are too high, the economy stinks, stay in America."

So get rid of divisions, play each AFC team once with two games against NFC opponents instead?
I don’t care how regular season games are played. You can still have bragging rights for division champ if you want, butonly the top 12 teams league wide get in the playoffs. Don’t care if it is 12 from one confrence.

Are your grandparents or Parents Italian?
Yes, on my father's side. I could apply for Italian citizenship if my great-grandfather was not yet a U.S. citizen when my grandfather was born in the U.S., juri sanguinis I think it's called, but there was enough time in between that I doubt it's the case. My great-grandfather was 16 when he arrived in the U.S.

If that were to happen, right or wrong, ……………..there would be a lot of fall out.

I thought about doing it when I was younger.....could have got an EU passport. Still could,I guess. Schengan Visa I think it’s called. Would have given me dual Citizenship, which would be the important part as I would never renounce my Canadian Citizenship. Think it would have been pretty cool. Of course back then I was chasing after my little European hottie, didn’t want the summer fling to end.......Ahhhhhhh memories.........

They'd have to get rid of divisions for this system to work. I'd personally hate that because first, I like divisions, and second, I'd hate to see the Steelers not play the Ravens, Browns, and Bengals twice a year. When you factor in it's a wide open league, scheduling gets really messy, IMO.

Everyone has differing opinions, I get that.

I’d be on this boat as well, to much “heritage” to be lost. Those division rivalries & history mean too much.

I think the NFL would fall even further into watered down and less interest (for me anyways).

Pitt was a 6th. Big difference on 7th. You keep watering down. As it is you are pretty much at a .500 team. I'm not saying impossible but pretty unlikely a 7th catches fire and wins a SB. Always on the road always playing best team left.
And that was my point. if 6th seeds win- expand the playoffs to 7. Happened twice, so I'm fine with the expansion. But to expand to 8 teams a 7th seed has to win. We've only had what? 2 seasons with a 7th seeded team thus far?

I honestly think the Steelers were good enough to make a run this year if they made the playoffs. Buffalo was a good matchup, then we would have gone to KC with a better pass rush than they faced all season.

I get what you are saying Stryker and that is a good criteria on going to 8 teams. Each level respectively show before the next level is advanced. Using that criteria, it could be awhile before that 8th spot is added. Hell, it could be the STEELERS paving the way AGAIN.!!!

I think the GREED of the owners wouldn’t be that patient, especially if there is a NFL Europe league added.

Im putting this here now… within the next decade the NFL is going to expand again… at that time they will definitely add an 8th playoff team … following the lead on other sports leagues going towards player seasonal gametime management , they will expand the roster, eliminate the bye weeks, play 20 games, but each player will be limited to 16 games…

I would venture to say that in 10years, there may be another conference or the current two will be expanded by 4-8 teams each.

NFL football is becoming saturated and watered down, ten years will be WWF like audiences.
