Olympic hockey

Team Canada is going to throw those silver medals in a drawer in the garage work bench.
I can relate to that. In drag racing if we start with 300 cars at the beginning of the day, 299 of them will lose by the time its over.

I have several runner ups in big races over the years that I threw the trophies away.

Every time you look at them, it pisses you off.

Unfortunately in sports, someone has to lose.

Probably mentioned already, but how ironic both of those gold medal games were USA and Canada, and they both end in two to one scores in overtime..
USA!
USA!

By the way, I called Jack Hughes with the overtime winner! Crazy right!
I wonder if you could’ve bet that on a wagering on line site at the end of the regulation?

Yeah but you don’t get a bronze Stanley cup

Yeah ,I know. It's a crushing defeat and I'm sure the natives will give them **** for choking or something silly. It's their sport,I get it. You can't smile or show happiness at the moment without getting **** on. The standard is gold, anything less is just unacceptable.

I'm glad it was Canada they had to play for the gold, both men and women. It makes victory greater. They're the gold standard of the sport, so beating them is a hell of an accomplishment.

The only thing better than beating Canada is beating Russia…
But gold is gold in any measure.

Canada is the modern day Soviet Union when it comes to hockey. The past few Olympics and World Championships, you’d be hard pressed to find a better collection of talent on a single team. Granted the Canadians aren’t playing together year round like the Soviets, so that makes a huge difference. Still, with all that talent I was shocked to see them struggle in a few games, and figured they would win the gold. If not for Connor Hellebuyck, they would have.

Canada has always been better than the Russians.

The difference from 50s-90s is that they played together all year; since they started playing in NHL, it's a 3 way battle with US, Russians and Canada. Game is shrinking in Canada, growing in US, so this game may be symbolic of the start of American ........ yeesh.
