Payton Wilson

Does anyone think Barham is a playmaker who, like Parsons, can play both on the edge and inside, has a great burst, makes plays, and maybe makes a good combo duo with Sawyer at LE/LOLB? toughts esp if we trade TJ
Or as we have seen, the DL gets pushed perhaps with one of the 3 rnd 3 piocks take a big NG that eats up space that can give Queen and Wilson more clean lanes.
DT to think about as Cams replacement, I think Benton is more a 4-3 DE or 4-3 shooting gaps pass rusher
DeMonte Capehart Dominique Orange, DT, Iowa State; DT Christian Miller, UGA; Caleb Banks Jackson, Jr.; Rasod Benny; these are some big DT with girth that won't be easy to push around.
For the long run we need another big body to be as the main interior guy with Harmon Black

Wilson was not that bad. I know the tackle stat isn't great, but he was 18th in the league. He had bad games, but so did everyone else. I will say i don't think he is a run stuffer. If we keep the 3-4 we will need a thumper ilb. Queen was left in space too many times. Either covering people he had no business covering or having to cover 2 people at once. He was a victim of scheme alot. He also didn't help himself with missed tackles and what not. I think he should be a cap casualty, but don't have a replacement

I’m a proponent of drafting Barham..
He’s moving up the charts..
Guy just looks like a very solid NFL linebacker at the next level.

But they didn't play him at NT, they played him at end. He came in for Cam most of the time. Benton is the NT and he is not one
I think I read Black couldn't hold the point when tried at NT and that's why he was playing DT

That was a concern coming out of college. They never even tried him at NT, they were happy with Benton there, and who knows why. He couldn't hold the point, would constantly pick a side and allow the back easy cut back lanes.

But he has the size over Benton. And he's the best option on the roster right now, unless they draft one this year or sign one in FA

All I know is he won’t be there if we stay at our current position in the second round.
Btw.. I like him more on the inside than the outside in the NFL.
Especially in a 34 alignment
I think move up in the second is too high. Too many needs. Plus I think days of covering slots with ILB might be done.

As has been discussed in numerous threads, many including my self believe Benton should have been moved too DT, if nothing else, it will be fun to see how the new coaching staff uses these guys.

Some of that is dictated by the offense. Hopefully a better scheme will reduce it, but it can always be forced with the right offensive call catching the defense in the wrong call.

The young man is playing out of position.
He needs to move to outside.
With this higher of Frank Cignetti, I’m starting to think that the Steelers are gonna try to make a deal with the Raiders to get their number one overall and select Mendoza.
I think the deal looks like TJ and our next two years number ones for the right to select number one overall.
With TJ gone, we can move Wilson into the outside linebacker mix, and I think the kid will excel.
I know I just said a big mouthful that a lot of yinz will have a hard time getting through your craniums smoothly…😉
Yup, or a hybrid safety. His wingspan is on the upper end big. Not quite Javon Kearse big but it is an advantage over a left or right tackle. Plus his speed and agility is freakish. He should be rushing more from the outside. Plus he is built and has the attributes to cover the more athletic tight ends in the league.

That is about as low as the bar goes.
Bush has made a fairly miraculous turnaround. He looks like a real player now. Maybe not for the spot drafted but closer to what we thought he could be. More proof the position can take a while for players to adjust more than others.

Bush looks serviceable. Bout it. Remember when the Steelers ran over him into the playoffs with Rudolph at QB. Then he is beaking Rodgers last year like the ******** he is. Fantastic example.
