Penguins 24-25

Pens Ownership rankings according to the New York Times...Full story here

Several months ago, we put out a call to our NHL readers to evaluate their owners. Nearly 4,000 of you — including representatives from all 32 NHL fan bases — filled out our detailed owner survey, and the results are fascinating.

We’ve compiled your answers in four key ownership categories — willingness to spend, organizational stability, treatment of the fan base and franchise vision — into a “Fan Score” and combined that with our own ranking that factors in objective things such as team performance in the regular season and playoffs (over the past decade) as well as ownership’s general reputation and influence, according to our reporting.

Often referred to as “the Boston guys” in hockey circles, FSG has had a controlling interest in the Penguins franchise for only a few years, and with an aging roster and new GM, it’s been a bumpy ride. An attempt to retool rather than rebuild has gone poorly, to the point Pittsburgh sits at the bottom of the standings this season, and a fan base that has been spoiled with so much success is already souring on the ownership group.

FSG scored especially poorly under “franchise vision,” where fans ranked them 24th. Organizational stability wasn’t much higher, at 21st.

Fan perspective: “We all miss Mario and are skeptical that these guys want to really win.”

“FSG is still new to hockey, and while it shows, it’s tough to really give them fair grades. They purchased the team entering a difficult period of the team’s cycle, so we’ll have to see how they come out of it.”

“They should have bought the Bruins instead.”

It will be, but the draft this year should be epic!
Hope so. I think it'll be epic if Letang will finally retire. He literally kicked off tonight's epic slide by trying to deflect a pass from one of his own teammates with his skate rather than his stick. He deflected it right to an isle for a breakaway goal I think his reflexes are simply shot.

I agree. Geno also. He's occasionally good-to-great, but mostly he's a turn over machine. It would be nice to have their money back in the till, as well.

He has been like that for years now. Blast into the zone zig zagging harlem globe trotter style and try a behind the back pass, and turn the puck over.

Fn refs...Pens on a power play and Tomasino inadvertently hits a Columbus skate while battling for the puck. It wasn't intentional... The Columbus ****** falls ******* over elbow somehow,,,, penalty called, while Sid, Geno, etc can be ******* held, tripped, interfered with, boarded, cross checked, etc all night long and no call. I guess that's their version of equity...

Great save Ned with 3:35 to go...

Ahhhh buy Sam a drink and get his dog one too!!! Bryan Rust makes it 6-3 with an empty net goal to ice the win for the Pens.

Ned with 44 saves out of 47. The Pens actually got 34 shots on goal
Yep. It looked like a pretty complete game. Weird how they can't play consistently like this. Boko only played 7 some minutes but the ol 29er gave him his 1st star of the game. He brought the energy tonight and the crowd responded!!. Sully will probably bench him for it.

I didn't get to watch as I am in the armpit of Louisiana and hockey, as you can imagine, isn't especially popular here. Glad to see a good result.

FWIW I hear that New Orleans is in the running for an NHL expansion team.

Unfortunately I’m nowhere near New Orleans. I’m in a town called Leesville just outside Fort Johnson (Polk). It kinda sucks.

Try picking up the radio feed online tonight via 105.9 the X or the Pens app. They are playing pretty well so far.
