Pens Hockey 2021?

Great win but goaltending and lack of physicality is going to be this teams undoing. You aren't going to win many playoff games giving up 4 goals. This team has talent but I'm afraid the wear and tear on them is going to pile up.
When Jarry has three opponents in his crease, no goalie alive could win. The d lets the other team camp out there too often

My thoughts exactly.

MAF is getting schooled by the Wild tonight

HUGE win! Was it ugly? Eh, yes, but they never were behind and answered every punch NYI landed. Impressive win! On the road, PO. . . WOW! Saturday night can put a digger in their hearts. Won't be easy.

Jeff Carter. . . love you, man! Sid, you already know. . . you're the man!

I don't think that we can take the Bs. I hope we don't have to find out, but it's a good chance that we will play them.
If Clutterbuck and Matt Martin are pushing this team around.

a best of 7 against Kevan Miller, Tinordi, Marchand.

or

Ovechkin, Wilson, Hathaway. **** Oshie brings the heat too

Tanger with the #1 star tonight..Tough call between him and Mr Kotter who got the #2

True but the first goal was his usual 15 ft. away shot over his left shoulder. I think the announcer said that 6 of his first 6 goals give up to the Isles were of that variety.

let's get past these pesky jags and can worry about those jagoffs in the the other series. Hopefully, they continue smacking each other around.

Tanev deserved it
I'd agree with that. He was all over the place.. The Tanevmanian Devil was raising all kinds of hell tonight and was one of the few to not sit in the box and feel shame.

You're right, but he blocked a ton of those shots tonight, too

Half the playoff teams are former Pens (it seems)
Don’t forget, Washington takes our old guys as well.
Orpik, Niskanen, Sheary, Shultz, Hagelin, Sprong. The caps even stole our rally horn. Wtf?

Except for Sprong, I would have any of them back

I'm betting on good Geno. He's going to be rested and fired up. Surely he'll improve the power play too.
I'd say we got good Geno tonight. Tell you what, I like him, Sid and Carter on the PP. Jake lit it up during the regular season but he is being owned in the playoffs. Am I wrong or has Jake been pretty much invisible?

Jakes not good when the physical play starts. He try's to push back but he is too small. The Isles really have limited the Crosby line.

At this point even with a game advantage, should we try mixing up that line a little and get some more mass there or just keep plugging away? Honestly I do not think the Isles have an answer for the 3rd and 4th lines so I'd keep plugging away. I could be wrong but I think the Isles gave it all they had tonight. They know there's blood in the water and are as good as gone.

The Pens are looking soft as hell.
This team is going nowhere until they get a bruiser or two
I’m done with Sullivan. I think he’s lost this team. There is no push back or response with bully teams. They crumble every damn time.
Carter, Kapanen and Tanev are the only bright spots.

I don’t think the Pens hold up well with physicality at all. Momentum shifts entirely once Clutterbuck and Martin start hitting
Crosby or Malkin are going to get hurt. We have no push back. I’m not feeling it. Call me negative, but this lack of physicality is frustrating.

Matt Martin would get his *** handed if that was Tom Wilson or Kevan Miller
OK, you're negative. And a little bit whiny, I might add.

You're done with Sullivan? He's lost the team? Huh? What do you want from the guy? The Penguins are finally healthy -- he's simply putting his best players out on the ice. They are more talented than the Islanders, and they'll win this series based on having better skill. This isn't the 1980s or 90s; a lack of "push back" after the whistle has little importance in today's NHL. Sure, it'd be great to have an old-school enforcer out there to protect star players, but I'd rather have guys who can put the puck in the net instead of worrying about neutralizing the Matt Martins of the world.

I feel like Jarry is getting unfairly criticized for some of these goals allowed, especially after game 1. A lot of these shots were perfectly placed on the top shelf by the Islanders; they deserve some credit, too. That pinpoint precision wasn't there in Game 2 (and I don't expect it to be going forward in this series) -- when the shots aren't perfect, Jarry almost always stops them. Tonight, the other goals he gave up were on a wide open net after Marino lost his helmet, a five-hole deflection off of Cici's skate, and another lucky bounce off a body.

Jarry is no Brodeur or Roy, but he is every bit as good as Matt Murray, and solid enough to have similar playoff success with this deep Penguins team.
