Pens Hockey 2021?

We shut down their game. They came out aggressive and flying. We gave up two Geno PPs, and they did nothing with it. I am feeling the momentum if this series go our way.

I just wish the caps had something against the Bs.

Damn Pens just need to score. For the most part they’ve had chances.

The Penguins seem to live or die according to how Letang is playing. I hate to say it but I think he's the fn barometer of this team.
 
Just turned it on to see Bleuger put it in his own net. And now Eberle just scored. Wish I hadn’t turned it on.
 
I'd give Jarry the rest of the game off. Its not on him but there's no sense in leaving him out there.

Well Sullivan runs a speed system. When you rely on D men to act as extra forwards, and Letang sees a lot of ice time his good shows as well as his bad. The defense helps set the neutral zona and forecheck schemes. Their boneheaded plays affect how the forwards have to react.

I’d try different line combos at this point. Might as well experiment
 
Well at least we didn't get skunked today. National TV and it's a suck fest. damn unlucky too.
 
I didn't see anything in that first period to think the Isles had any chance. I didn't think the Pens would play the rest of the game as lifeless as dead fish on ice. What the hell?

Beyond garbage. Not even sure what to say. Sid didn't wait for them to get off the ice tonight. I hope they get yelled at like little kids.

I totally agree. Another opportunity squandered.
 
This was never going to be an easy series. You can't keep giving up 4 goals and expect to win. They've given up 4 goals 3 times in this series and are 1-2. If they don't start playing better defensively this will be their one and only series.

The presser should be interesting. Sully has to be melting down.

I know he's still pretty green, but Blue better wake the hell up and understand he's in the playoffs. Time for him to step up or remain just a decent 4th liner in the regular season.
 
My thoughts:

The Pens were their own worse enemy today...put more pucks behind their own goalie than the Isles goalie...
Matheson hasn't been the same since his head injury.....they really miss his offensive game.....!he is playing tentative and needs to find his hands...
Malkin looks like he came back too soon...but if he wants to play...he will play.
Crosby and his line has SUCKED.
Suggest they move Gentzel to Malkins line and put Kappy with Sid and Rust.
Gentzel is not a playoff hockey forward.
New Yorkers don't shut the **** up...

We got them right where we want them....best of three with two at home.
 
Glad I didn’t watch, bumped the phone by mistake and my sports app opened and showed me 0-4. Read your guys comments figured I would save myself a lot of anguish. I’ve watched a little bit of two other games and it’s amazing how the penguins cannot play with any team in this league. Way too soft and way too many turnovers. At times they look like the best in the league and other times like they were in college. Letang and Malkin are total liabilities and have been past 3 years. I agree with Jake, he is scared as they are beating the **** out of him and taunting 71 and 58 for cheap penalties. I have said it before, our defense needs to stay at home and stop playing forward. Forwards should support the defense not the other way around, this team is too lackadaisical and makes way too many turnovers for that style. And I’m not real sure why Silly should be fuming, this is the team and the style of play he chooses. Lose Monday and Sully loses 3 straight series and this time as a #1 seed!

The speed and skill are there. The lack of crashing the net especially on rebounds. Not adjusting to the opposing goalie as well. He leaves a 5 hole open. Sarokin should be prime real estate for the powerplay.

The Pens problem is they don’t shoot. That tic-tac toe passing is perfect to throw Sarokin off but nobody shoots when the opportunity is presented.

Guentzel's first two postseasons: 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 37 games with 7 GWG and a +11.
Guentzel's last three postseasons: 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 12 games with 0 GWG and a -3.

He used to be a great playoff hockey forward...what the hell happened?


Very disappointing loss, a total team letdown after a spirited game 3 victory. More lucky goals for the Islanders yesterday, though -- I still like the Penguins' chances in a best-of-three. Sid needs to step up and lead the way. He's got the same line as Guentzel in the last 12 playoff games: 5 points and a -3. That's simply not good enough production from an elite player.
