First of all, we still don't know the extent of Crosby's injury, or how long he'll be out. And no matter what his status is, they have to get out of the first round before they can worry about the second round and beyond. They might manage to still win the series, but where are they going after that? Not contending for the Cup that is for sure. Sorry but getting past the first round isn't any consolation for us spoiled Pens fans. Geno can be great when he has to be, but he can't do half the things Sid was doing with Jake and Rust. Those guys are almost hard wired into each other. Can't plug in Malkin and expect the same production in a game or 2.... Just like the Steelers, like I have said many times before its always something.
I just get sick of the same **** different year with it all...
Maybe. I won't be surprised either way.Big game tonight. Can they get it done without Sid?
Gonna miss the 1st period myself cause I’ll be at work. Hopefully I tune into a Pens lead tonight
I'm aligned with you topseed...except for the vote of confidence on Carter..First of all, we still don't know the extent of Crosby's injury, or how long he'll be out. And no matter what his status is, they have to get out of the first round before they can worry about the second round and beyond.
Malkin looked just fine on the first line when they tied the game at 3-3. Or did you miss that perfect backhanded pass in between four defenders right on Guentzel's tape in the slot?
Sure, Sid's been playing some good hockey, but Jake makes him look even better. JG is developing into an outstanding player in his own right. He and Malkin had chemistry years ago when they played together, as did Rust and Geno at times, so I'm not too worried about that trio being able to produce. Carter may have to step it up on the second line, and I believe he is capable of doing so.

Yes I know Geno is more than capable but he isn't going to do what Sid has been doing. They literally were the best line in the playoffs up to this point. Like we all know Geno doesn't bring it every shift, every game like Sid does. And Jake is a great player but I think a lot of it is playing along side of Sid. Also if Sid is indeed out, which I fully expect he is, I think Rust might be the wild card here....He has been ringing the post lately so he is close. He definitely needs to start scoring now.
I guess we will find out tonight. Or will we? Is Sid going to play? I am betting not.....
Can't agree that Carter looks slower than Boyle, and he has played well when called upon to take on a bigger role. Every time.I'm aligned with you topseed...except for the vote of confidence on Carter..
I am not high on him and he looks slower than Boyle out there..
If any of our veteran players look old, tried, and slow....its Carter IMO.
Hope I'm wrong and scores two tonite!
Let Go Pens!!
Well----the turkey is on the table...Can't agree that Carter looks slower than Boyle, and he has played well when called upon to take on a bigger role. Every time.
Sid is officially out tonight and Rakell is a game time decision. Jarry is practicing with team, but also out. Time to win it for Sid!
