Peyton 509 TD's

Peyton needs his longevity/volume stats because his playoff performance has been atrocious.

Compare his playoff number to our guy who everyone thinks is a great playoff performer. You might be surprised

Now, now. Saying things like that in these parts will get you in trouble.

Funny how I read nothing but "we should have more Superbowls, we have a franchise qb" here, yet then these threads pop up making excuses for a franchise qb, a franchise qb who pretty much hand picked his new team, by the way, and has had two years to get his nice shiny ring, and has failed twice.

But yeah, he's dreamy in the regular season.

Who is making excuses?

Sure, Peyton would be better off if he had more SB rings but he is still the best QB out there, even at his age. He easily is a top 5 QB of all time (number 1 can be debated in circles so I won't even go there) and will be a lock for a first ballot HOF seat. As much as most on here don't like him, there really is no debating he is a great QB and easily one of the best to ever play the game.

This is possibly his year to get #2. Looking around the league, NE, BAL, IND and maybe CIN are their road blocks. They can beat anyone of their *****. The NFC doesn't impress me. Philly and AZ are the class of the NFC? It's very early, but I'd be surprised if Denver doesn't get Peyton his 2nd ring this year.

As far as the record, who is going to break this one in the next 10 years? He still has a lot of football this year to pad the stat. He seems like a humbled, good guy. I'm happy for him. Impressive record.

did you see sanders with peyton throwing at him ?

I can't tell you how much I love Peyton

He has vaulted my team up to #1 in my Moose fantasy league - another top shelf drink bet coming my way

Oh, I like him. I think he's a heck of a player, and seems like a great guy overall too. That being said, he's been a choke artist in the playoffs.

Wallace and Sanders are having solid seasons.

Just imagine if we hadn't f*** our salary cap and we were able to have a WR corp consisting of: Mike Wallace, ABrown, and Manny Sanders...

:(

Well, they did have all three on their roster for 3 seasons along with Ward for 2 of them and managed a SB loss and a round one playoff loss to Tebow.

Marino and Kelly were pretty damn good and have zero rings. Trent Dilfer, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Phil Simms and Doug Williams all do. Rating QBs on how much and what they have won is kinda stupid. It's not anything like pitchers in baseball but people always make the comparison.

Hard to blame the WR corp when Tebow decided to catch the Holy Ghost all over our defense.

(Tebow stats- 316 Yards, 31.6 YPC ;) )

Only 6 points scored through nearly 3 full quarters. One TD catch all game.....by Cotchery. It's not that I'm blaming those guys, it's more of a frustration that the coaching staffs (both Arians and Haley) could not figure out how to get these guys in the endzone enough to make a difference. And it's a problem that certainly still exists today for the current group.

Most cerebral QB ever.

now, now, we do NOT diss Marino in these parts.

does that mean biggest forehead?

Peyton's awesome.

Have to cram all those brains somewhere. I highly doubt Peyton isn't an offensive coordinator the day after he retires (if he wants) and a head coach within 3-5 years. The dude loves football so even though he could walk away I just don't see it.

What is the one constant with the no points offense. Ben is not doing what he should be doing. For everyone that wants to quote 4 th quarter game winners you must also be behind for that to happen, what is wrong with scoring in the other three quarters and having a lead for the whole damn game? Ben is the best qb we have had in quite a while but does not seem to make consistently good decisions. It would also be an exercise in futility to play the blame game as to coordinators vs qbs, we just don't know when the play sucks if it was arians or hailey or ben that is responsible. But we do know that one of them has been there no matter who was coordinator.

I would think that if Ben really wants to get serious about wining games he will change some things he does or the Rooneys will change the time he plays if they want some more wins.

How good would he be, though?

I've always had issues with superstar players becoming coaches/GM's (more so in basketball though). When it comes so naturally to you- both physically and mentally- I think it becomes difficult to impart that wisdom onto another player. The game just comes easier to these guys compared to almost everyone who has ever stepped on a field/court. Its almost akin to MJ trying to coach a team using his experience as a proxy.

However, Peyton could certainly teach future QB's about work ethic.

It's a bogus record.

The NFL has outlawed pass defense, Manning is just a beneficiary of those rules changes. Today in the NFL 1/3 of the league routinely throws for 4000 yards. You have multiple 5000 yards passers in a season. Why? Everything is pass interference, and you can't even smell a QB without drawing some kind of penalty. You can't hit receivers anymore either, but runners are still allowed to shove the defender's facemask.

All the passing records now are bogus. Namath threw for 4000 yards back in 1967 with only 14 games to do it in. Unitas set the consecutive games with a touchdown record before "illegal contact" had even been invented. Today's QB stats are just a manufactured marketing ploy.
