Pickens being traded to Dallas?

Stats state otherwise. When Smith has two good WRs he has a 2 WR offense.
All I heard when he was hired was that the TE would be his #2 WR. Has he ever had two good WR's? One year in Tenn his top two WR's had 70 and 65 receptions, Kyle Pitts was his leading pass catcher his first year in Atlanta, then year 2 Pitts only played 10 games but was targeted only 2 less times in 10 games than the #2 WR that played in all 17 games, then year 3 the RB was their #2 pass catcher and Pitts was #3.

Double team DK and stack the box. Throw away from the middle of the field. I see the same nonsense as last year. Dulac doesn't think they will bring anyone else in for now.

I just can't get over how, 2 years in a row, they just make a knee-jerk reaction and have no backup plan. This year is worse as we have no QB1.

Just play Rudolph or Howard with no WR's to throw to and let the team finally fall below 500. I see little chance they get above 500 even if Rodgers signs. They absolutely need to bring in a WR2 prior to camp; otherwise, he will be getting on a moving train, and we all know Tomlin doesn't let those kinds of players play very much.

We need 2 more WRs prior to camp because we have no clue what Roman Wilson can do. While the Steelers may think he is a top 4 WR, they did last year also and that really didn't work.

They need at least 1 WR with outside speed and then another to force Wilson to beat him out in camp. Scotty Miller needs to move to PS or get on with his life's work.

The best they were offered for Pickens during the draft was a 4th. Dallas also says they aren't going to try and resign him, just let him play this year out. So, if they don't make at least the NFC Championship game is this a bad trade?

Extremely odd that they won’t try to sign him longer term…………………………………?

A 3rd for a one year deal, seems less than smart…….

Salute the nation

Couldn’t we have received a 3rd round comp pick for him in 2027 draft and used him as a 3rd round pick this year?
Now we get the comp pick in 2026, a year earlier.
We could have used him this year for cheap

I would have let Pickens play out and go from there. I get we got a 3rd round pick, but I would have rather seen the offense with 2 good Wrs. I just don't understand all last year it was about getting another WR. So we go get one and trade away Pickens which puts us back to square 1. I think CAIII is a very good 3rd WR, but other that we pretty much have nothing behind DK. I think Woods is shot and Wilson is a huge ? at best. Hopefully wilson finds some magic, but i just don't think he is the answer.

So it seems that most everyone here thinks we'd be better with Pickens than without?

Was Tomlin the coach when the Killer B's were there?

Look, he deserves a lot of criticism, but that is bs.
yes

Not so sure they’re acquiring another WR, they signed Woods, Austin improved last year, and maybe they’re high on Roman Wilson.

Plus, guessing they didn’t draft Kaleb Johnson, a perfect fit for an Arthur Smith offense, just to go 4-wide and fling the ball all over the field.

I think the Kahn Artist bought some magic beans here. I think he snuck up on some people but the Metcalf trade and this one especially post draft is laughable.

Is it BS? Tomlin bemoaned the turnovers that cost them a playoff berth down the stretch in 2018 and then massively over corrected. Since then, two hand-picked OCs who never worked as an OC before or after Pittsburgh and the ultra conservative Smith, leading to a locked down offense that largely avoids the middle of the field.

Ok, does Pickens make us a playoff favorite? If not then what's the point? I use to never be able to hope we lose, but with Tomlin is stubborn attitude, everything is done my way, it's the only way. The only hope we have is to suck this season and luck into drafting a QB that Tomlin can't ruin, if that's even possible.

Like what the hell happened around here, there's actually more fans that would rather keep a guy that quits mid play, doesn't even try for a winning catch in the endzone, stops blocking on a potential TD play in a game with playoff implications because he, in his own words, didn't want to get hurt, shows up late to games and meetings. This is the guy everyone wants around here. Tomlin brainwashed you all too, damn.

Absolutely. This trade makes acquiring and signing Metcalf only marginally less stupid than trading Pickens after acquiring Metcalf. Whatever. They aren’t contenders either way, but keeping Pickens at least makes it seem like they are trying

IMO, we have a QB deficiency. I'd guess one way to overcome that is to have some supreme talent at WR to mask that. Pickens and Metcalf - or Metcalf and Pickens - would at the very least keep safeties off the LOS. They can also catch the ball, one major requirement for the WR position. And neither run backwards. So, they have hands and their ability would keep that extra man or men out of the box. Which can open up the run game, which can make it easier on the QB.

The question shouldn't be "does Pickens make us a playoff favorite". It should be "can we even get to the playoffs with Rudolph?"

Just for hypotheticals... let's say Howard takes the QB reins and establishes rapport with both WRs. Then next season he makes a bigger jump. We're ahead of the curve then. By not giving any QB all the weapons you can, and we did have some weapons yesterday, you're hamstringing him before the first snap.

incorrect.

Tomlin was the one who allowed that. If he was half as good at coaching as he is coach-speak, we'd be a better team.

Comps dont get finalized till after tge season... if Moore gets hurt week one, his value will probably tumble to a 4th or 5th

If he got outright cut and not resigned it would be nil..
I think it's like 95% based on contract though.

So some of the guys that got those "up to" contracts could end up getting a better comp for us to. But it's hard to hit those "unlikely to be earned" bonuses.

What I'm reading around the web adds up to the fact that GP is just not trusted or respected around the league. He's been an obvious head case and nobody was all that willing to bring that into to their organization. Pretty much what was being written about him prior to the draft that year. Bottom line: the dude is nuts! Sure, he can catch and watching him toss his body around here and there was amusing, but he's a nut that also seems to be a locker room distraction. They clearly wanted him out before the OTAs. Good riddance!

That said, the REAL ISSUE here (as was mentioned before) is that we continue to draft these guys. Shades clearly is compelled by these guys with some great physical skills, who have very questionable mental health and work ethics. It's so consistent that it's becoming laughable. You all know the list; they're all the same guy! Somewhere along the line Shades got the idea that he's a social worker and can rehabilitate these mental defectives. He sucks at it! Name ONE of these malcontents who 'came around' to the 'Steeler way' and was productive over time.

So, was Wilson hurt all last season or is he just another nut? Has Shades been doing weekly counseling sessions with him? Is Metcalf getting therapy yet? He comes off as nearly as nuts as GP half the time. What a freak show/circus this organization is.

I would trade Watt and Minkah today too. We can't seem to game plan for them to be successful after the first six games of a season since our 'defensive coordinator' is an idiot. So why pay them big money? The idea of signing any high-priced FAs, etc. with this group of 'coaches' makes me gag. Just admit that we're the new Browns and field a team of everyone getting paid league minimum. Everyone can admire Shades and talk about how great he is while jamming out to Renegade! Win? Nah, who cares?
